How would gays getting married affect tampon demos???

Two gay wimmins would be brilliant at explaining menstruation. Demos and all. But some people want that to remain banned.

Firstly you seem to have a thing about the Church?! Whats that about?
Secondly I would safely say that the periods tampons towels mooncup heavy flow light flow disposal of sanitary .protection, pain management PMT chat would definitely be more authentic coming from a woman as men, even gay men, simply cannot claim to have any personal experience in this matter, no?For example a man cannot physically demonstrate tampon insertion.

Now now, you wouldn't be advocating some sort of sodomy with that remerk now would you :p

Ah but they would be stumped when it comes to condoms

I didn't think catholic tenets superseded the Bible. That would make the religion even harder to take seriously.

What I am out to mock and scorn? My grandmother is a staunch catholic, and I worship the very ground she walks on. But even she knows that some ultra-religious people are ****ing thick. The people who are distributing this leaflet are ****ing thick. We are talking about the people who wrote this leaflet. These religious people are thick.

And speaking as someone subjected to the rather charming things nuns/teachers/priests have had to say about people like me when I was growing up, it is very hard to take religious people seriously when they complain about name calling.

It's not the pro-ssm side dragging catholicism into the debate - the church is doing that by sticking its oar in. I assure you, the yes side would prefer religion didn't come into it at all...

The tenets of any faith are the basic rules or guidelines. I find it hard to believe that you have apparently no knowledge of this. The Bible is like a witness account of the birth of Christianity. I know mocking the Bible necessitated endless hours of reading for people who otherwise profess to have no interest in belief. Strange carry on.

Please tell me dads don't use their own penises to demonstrate how to put on a condom.

Not at all. A cucumber or a banana has always been just fine.

Well an anus and a vagina bear absolutely no resemblance to one another in any way. Either internally or externally.

Anyone else perturbed the the faces of two children are beside the word sodomy. Did these children consent for their images to be used on such a leaflet. Oh silly me, children can't give consent so it must be ok then

You were speculating about the tenets and the Bible?

Absolutely not. The instruction leaflet that comes with them is more than adequate!

    mrsbyrne is clutching at straws.

A demonstration saves wasted time. And wasted tampons.

    Sigh.

    One more time.

The leadership of catholic church has been spewing bile about gay marriage for a long and well documented time now. If you object to catholicism being spoken about in reference to gay marriage, I suggest you take it up with them.

It was literally the only parenting task you could think of that absolutely required a vagina.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

I've tried making sense of this jumping around from tampons to bibles and back again and I still can't figure out what the everloving fuck it has to do with the issue at hand

Way back on page 8, shuirkan said they were entitled to think religious beliefs were thick, despite the fact that someone believed in them. Followed by hand wringing on the attack on religion generally, despite the fact that the thread has a concrete example being spoken about.

Nothing. But if you can't argue your case properly, argue some other case and hope people don't notice that you haven't answered the question ;)

lack of knowledge doesnt seem to stop priests telling people who they should and should not be sleeping with.

There has to be a way making this referendum and change to *the law* be a rational debate about the law and not dragged into the same tired old battlefield it becomes every time religion gets involved/ involves itself. In a perfect world I could say that marriage equality doesn't affect the No campaign(ers) whatsoever and they therefore should mind their own business( Much like the grannies and rosary brigade in the Abortion debate, it didnt affect them in any way yet we still have to deal with their BS dictating the terms and the outcome).

I wish we could steal this whole marriage equality debate back off the religious factions, allies and nut jobs alike. I know a lot of church going catholics that support SSM and equality but i guess we do offend and turn them off by engaging with the nutjobs and tarring them all with the one brush, via church/religion. we're letting them dictate the terms and make it a mudfight when it doesnt need to be and doesn't help our cause at all.

    What I said was
Anybodys beliefs are open season. Just because a book told you to think something doesn't make that belief anymore important.

I can believe prayer is the solution for illness so let's close down all hospitals and get rid of doctors. Doesn't mean other people can't call me thick.

That just because a belief was religious doesnt meant it should be immune from criticism anymore than any other belief. Gave an example of something that was obviously a bad idea and then said people could still call me thick for thinking that. I think I offended someone who thinks that all hospitals should be closed and replaced with praying for them to get better.

    Vote No.

God forbid anyone of you shall have to give up a child to adoption in the future, how can you look yourself in the mirror knowing that you're creating the chance for that poor child to be raised by a same sex couple ? I shudder to think of the trauma it will cause the child and our future generations to come.

The future is in our hands, make the sensible decision and vote no. Gay people can do whatever they want between themselves, but they cannot and will not have our children !

They don't need to, they can have their own. And if I had a child adopted I'd have no issues at all with it being raised by a same sex couple. Better that than to be raised by homophobic bigots.

Well you could reframe the debate a bit

Point out what really hurts and undermines families; Spending cuts, tax increases, emigration, unemployment, childcare costd- these all undermine families and marriage. Marriage equality won't.

And why aren't you worried about those things, Mister Iona?
