Fergie's signings from 2007-2012,some serious dross in there amongst the few gems.

    2007

    Anderson: £20m from Porto
    Nani: £21m from Sporting Lisbon
Tomasz Kuszczak: Undisc from West Brom
Carlos Tevez: £20m from West Ham

    2008
    Manucho: Undisc from Petro Atletico
    Rafael: Undisc from Fluminense
    Fabio: Undisc from Fluminense
    Rodrigo Possebon: Undisc from Internacional
    Dimitar Berbatov: £30m from Tottenham

    2009
    Zoran Tosic: Undisc from Partizan
Paul Pogba: Undisc from Le Havre (can't really call him a bad signing, can we?)
Ritchie De Laet: Undisc from Stoke
    Antonio Valencia: £16m from Wigan
Michael Owen: Free from Newcastle United
    Gabriel Obertan: £3m from Bordeaux
    Mame Diouf: Undisc from Molde

There's only 1 player there that you could call a reasonably long term success and that's only if he signs a new contract...
The rest are either total sh*t, didn't work out, not good enough or one season wonders.

Scoring a few goal doesn't mean he was immense, Rooney is a poor #10/midfielder.

It's nothing to do with the goals, he was everywhere, his passing was better, his movement was better and the team overall were better with Rooney there.

A Spanish paper is now reporting that DDG has renewed with UTD

Hopefully there not just repeating the Italian story

Ah now, Paul Pogba looks like he'll be a long term success; geographical issue notwithstanding.

Yep, file that under the "didn't work out" section I mentioned.

    Exactly!

An entire article written based on the fact we have a higher percentage than most teams of backwards passes, yet little gets said about the fact the "runaway" leaders that everyone has been raving about all season has an even higher percentage.

Lazy journalism is all that is really.

Was that by Ogden? Noticed he's got tetchy last few months with United. Get the feeling he has the hump as he lost all the exclusives he was getting.

I reckon a lot were bought with "sell on potential",many we just had to give away.At least now we are seeing some proven talent coming into the club.

We all had a laugh at Woodward last season, but I reckon 99% of it was due to Moyes dithering over transfers.Woodward could hardly sanction spending if bids weren't being made due to a manager doing 20 + scouting missions on players and delaying so long that there was no time to even work on a transfer.

    Rooney/Falcao > Rooney/RVP imo but Mata as a no 10 > Rooney as a no 10, so it is a tricky one.

It all depends on where LVG see's the team going next year and what formation he settles on.

I'd prefer RVP gone and Rooney up front with Falcao. RVP must be getting a decent wedge too.

Tbh, I don't see why we're tied to the idea of 2 up front. 4-3-3 or a 4-2-3-1 would be how I'd like to see us going forward long term.

Personally, I'd love Falcao up front with DiMaria one side and a new winger the other, have Mata in the #10 and then two mids behind them, be it Herrera/Fel or some other signings. I'd happily see Rooney and RVP moved on and their wages reinvested in better ways.

Rumours circulating that we've made an offer for Cuadardo now; €29m and Januzaj on loan for 18 months.

everywhere i have seen this it seems to point to a permanent move for januzaj. given how much potential the lad has i would be ok with a loan but not letting him go for good

EDIT: just found the original story from italy and it says loan alright

We should be in for him, doubt we actually are though.

Rooney is one of the few players at united that can create or score even if he's having a bad game, madness to let him go. He should play up front and even if he drops back it would create space for di maria, mata and others.

SSN saying they rejected Chelsea's bid and said the selling price is the full amount of the buyout clause of £26.8 million.
Our supposed offer would match that with Januzaj on loan as a sweetener.

Utterly disagree. When Rooney has a bad game, he has an utter stinker. When he's having an ok game, he can create a moment of magic, but since he's being jammed into positions he shouldn't be, he's also struggling to do well. He's grown way to fond of trying Hollywood passes to the wings, many of which get intercepted, and has a habit of bypassing other midfielders and No 10s as well.

If we're not going to play him as a striker, he shouldn't be getting on the teamsheet by default and unbalancing the team. And it's pretty obvious that three managers now have not seen him as a first choice striker for whatever reason....

Is Cuadrado's best position RW ?
What way would United line up to accommodate him?
    4231 with an front 4 of Cuadrado,Rooney,ADM and Falcao/RVP .

I think he can play RW or LW, also RWB.

Rooneys still our best player and has been for a while. If you do the whole when he's good and when he's stink ratings then the whole squad comes off as poor bar DDG and most of them come off a lot worse than Rooney.

One of the best in the EPL. Under no circumstances should he be let go.

It was understandable that rooney was shifted about when rvp was firing and there was a lack of midfield options but not now. It falls under the list of things lvg does that i just don't get like playing 3 at the back and luping the ball, keeping herrera on the bench and playing valencia instead of rafael

I agree, he should be played up front however. It's to the detriment of the team playing him in midfield when there's far better options there.

That's a horrendous deal for Cuadrado if we've offered it. You can wave Januzaj goodbye if he's off for eighteen months, something I don't want us to do

It's better than some of the deals we do,a loan is the best option. One half decent season had us raving about Januzaj-he's not taken his chances this term and a loan might improve him no end.Better than loaning him out to a Championship side.
Another positive is that it might see the end of Valencia on the right, breaks my heart watching attacks die on that side of the field.

As long as we remember to tie him down to a long term deal before he goes, don't want him doing well only to come back in two years for the last 6 months of his contract! Wonder how long his current deal lasts?

And I've said my piece on Valencia numerous times, that he can be so consistently poor for years on end yet still play 30+ times a season speaks more than anything to the slipping standards in the club.

Januzaj to Fiorentina on loan would be a brilliant move, he's not quite there yet to be starting for United and could really do with game time at this stage of his career. Can't see the Cuadrado deal happening anyway so it's probably irrelevant.
