    For the second day in a row, I almost broke the streak. A huge and very unexpected bomb went off at work at 4pm, and wiped out stuff I had been working hard on for the last month. Hit the road in anger at 4:30 with a headtorch, and arrived back with a better sense of perspective at 5pm.

    Four entries for me today! My Saturday and Sunday took place in the british countryside while over attending some Christmas parties. Both easy 50-60mins with a friend on the first day and set off the second day to (once again) flush out a hangover. I was feeling queezy enough on the Sunday I must admit and it was the closest I'd come to stopping and walking back around 10 mins in... Local English Ales don't sit well in my stomach!

    Mondays run was rather interesting, as I was traveling by ferry, there was some disruptions following a weekend of rough crossings... I had a sketchy change in the car and set off for 30mins of awkward loops to make sure I didn't stray to far from the car! Today, a proper 90 minutes at a good steady pace. On this run, I felt a big difference as a result of the streak and the miles flew by and added up!


    Well done to everyone so far... If it wasn't for the fact that others have made the effort to go out with head torches or hungover or when it really doesn't suit etc etc I would have ended ages ago!

    First run I really really wasn't up for, been fighting off a cold since Fridays Christmas Party. Only doing short distances so just got out in the pissing rain and got it done. Defo wouldn't have bothered but for the streak. Much better for it and sitting inside nice and warm now.

    Regarding the discussion on the merits (or otherwise) of this Dec runstreak... I've been having a hugely stressful few weeks at work. Previously I would have dealt with this by doing my regular training session in anger, and hitting the bottle in the evening. Now, I'm getting the regular training session done, and clearing the head with a relaxing 30min run at an easy pace. By the end of the run work worries have been banished to their rightful place, and I feel set up for the next day's session. Plus, run fitness is improving, weight is falling, and it doesn't feel like a lot of effort put in for those benefits.

    Mild days are over, back to sub zeeeeees. No complaints, it is dry today! 10kish this morning and then met wife who was cycling home for another 5k or thereabouts. We do this at least three times a week on our way home from work together, she cycles and I run/try to keep up. :)

    Quick run along the beaches of Salthill this morning was made even more interesting when I fell in 2 rock pools, the feet still haven't warmed up. It was good to run on sand for a change and to do something different.

    Off to England tomorrow so the streak could be in jeopardy - I hope not. Must stay off the real ale and scrumpy.
