Done and dusted. never thought setting out i'd get to the end.

    Lessons learned
    - rotate shoes. very important
    - frequency rather than volume
    - easy runs done right(as in easy) can be fitted in without affecting other sessions to a greater extent than i thought
-gotta love the run. i thought i loved running. now i know i didn't as much as i thought
    - prescribed easy run doesn't mean it can't be up a mountain. where i live that's been a cardinal sin to think that. lots more mountain/trail runs on the horizon

and most importantly. next time akw sets up a challenge, make him a wager i'll get farther than him..:)

A mix of remembering and learning

    # training is a habit
    # running is fun
    # very easy to over estimate what you do
    # very easy to under estimate what you do
    # form is everything
    # trails are easier to run in trail shoes

I knew setting out on this month long adventure that it would be no trouble for me to complete because my current focus is on running....endurance running....so in some ways I feel like I was cheating here.

As far as what I learned (or was reminded) through this run streak process:
    - It's fun to feel you are a part of a team, and that's how this streak felt...like I was part of a team, complete with cheerleaders on the sidelines. :)
    - It's easier to update a run table than a SBR table.
    - Based on his run numbers, tunney has the potential to do some respectable training when he puts his mind to it.
    - A month is a mere blip on the screen....the trick is to carry this consistency in smart fashion throughout the year!!
    - If I keep running at this pace, looks like I'll need, um, at least 6 new pairs of shoes in 2015. ;):D

Serious props to AKW for setting this up and for being our leader and head cheerleader. Hip hip hooray for AKW!!!

Yesterday and today. Done. Now the real battle begins. :)

    Feb 7th-15k road race
    March 14th. Trail marathon
March 28th. Road marathon (1 mile loops, aside from loop one!!!!) :D
April 10-12 100 mile trail run
    April 25 road marathon

Learned that night runs aren't all that bad (especially after a long work day) and helps me sleep more soundly. Well definitely help me not get spooked out in the 100 mile. Thanks AKW for putting this together and everyone who took part and those who did not finish, be sure to be back next year.

Well done everyone who stuck out the 31 days! December has to be the hardest month to do it too, even more of a balancing act that other months.

Kudos to you lot and chapeau to the Mr Motivator AKW :)

Completed the streak yesterday with a dull 30 minute run in the UK.
It certainly has been a big learning process for me but I did find it easier than last year.
    What did I learn?
The weather was better this year than in 2013.
Running 7 days a week does not suit me at all. I need 2 days off a week for recovery and rest.
I learnt to always run in new places. The streak gave me the opportunity to run where I have never run before. Wherever I go I must always bring my runners.
Importantly I have learnt that I need to watch my diet more. That I still can put on weight running 200km+ if my diet is poor.
I learnt that my knees might need replacing in the future.
I learnt that I need to swim more and vary my exercise. This will help my knees.
I learnt that the streak was good fun and that there are some amazing people with similar OCD Issues out there.
    Thank you all.

Fair play to all who completed the challenge. I broke on day 2 with illness, started again and managed 25 days and even I was shattered with that. Can't wait for next year!

5 days away from here and a whole day to catch up.

Well done to each and everyone of you who completed the task. To those who started and stopped for one reason or another, what odds? It is a personal challenge which started out last year as a way to engage with yourself in developing a healthy mindset.

30 mins for 31 days of you time.

As I can see most of you found it tough (but sure if it wasn't tough, we'd all succeed at it...) some found it a burden, a chore that 'had' to be done.

The only person that 'made' you do anything here was you! When work, pissed you off, you went for a run. The fog cleared. It was you who berated yourself for indulging in one more mince pie, one more Baileys coffee. You did it all.

    Now look at yourself.

    Happy?

You should be. Its a big accomplishment and sets you up nicely for Spring. Rock on with the running and same time same place next December for the same drill again. Bring your friends this time ;)

    Well done.

Damn Garmin Connect isn't working / updating so had to do a manual calculation.
Very disappointed that I ran 5.5km less than last December as my legs feel more fatigued but then we are all a year older.
Desperately hope this thread doesn't appear again in 2015. Who can I bribe to stop it appearing?
