No, it will only not start once switched off again. I wasn't aware that this may include stop/start, but if it does, it's just another reason to disable that feature every time you hop in the car! :P

Short ish commute and more often than not the wife’s car gets used for weekend / family stuff as the boot in the Golf is hopeless.

ours is a 132 GTI - with 33k. Overdue its first NCT though !

    -thermostat went @ 27k
-batteries in fobs changed at least 4 times
    -2 new front tires
-fuel flap had to be adjusted for opening as it was getting stuck
    -2 x cornering bulbs
-VW were unable to fit the lower engine cover correctly, all golfs since 2014 don't even come with this part now.

Keyless? The keyless system is fairly hard on the batteries. I find that they need changing once a year ish.

I saw a lovely MK7.5 R in Tornado Red today near the M50 by exit 12. Anyone here?

Got it also, there's an attachment at the bottom. Seems to be some terms and conditions, maybe it got updated? Haven't had a proper look yet.

I got it too. Looked fishy to me. No subject in the email at all and a weird PDF attachment. I binned it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 920 ✭✭✭Ron Burgundy II

Yeah I just binned it as well.

Got it too. The PDF of T&Cs seems to show the changes as crossed out, like they were tracked and this was sent before final review or something.

I had my first experience of automatic braking the other day while on the M50, traffic was awful and the inside lane came to a sudden slow down, pressing the pedal felt like it wasn't moving much, very strange!

It makes sense that with ACC on it will slow down itself suddenly if need be but even when it's off the fact the car is always monitoring is amazing.

I've seen other people post about this on various forums and I'm not sure why. This is old news. You can already spec the exhaust on the irish configurator for a measly 4 grand.

I got some figures myself in the last day or two for changing up to a 181. A bit eye watering tbh...

Unfortunately the days of trading up a few years for reasonable money are gone. Second hand car values here are taking a dive due to cheaper UK imports and PCP deals favoring new cars instead.

Yep. Even if I was offered 20k for my 151 it would still be over 20k to trade up 3 years.

    No thanks

I'm getting OK-ish figures for my trade in I think. In or around what I could have best expected. The problem is that the new cars have crept up in price a fair bit - making the cost to change just a bit unpalatable.

Same here...I tried a few Audi dealers with a view to trading my pristine very low mileage (< 20Kms) 161 A4 TFSI S tronic for a 181 with exact same spec.

17K with my own to change is the best I can do so it ain't gonna happen. :(

I remember when my Dad used to trade up every two years in the ninetys and early noughties, used never cost him more than €5k. He has the same car now since 2010, he wasn't long retired when he bought it. There are 85k kms on it now and I told him he would be nuts to change it when all he uses it for is short hops to the shops and going to funerals:)

We’re you getting quotes to change to same again Joe?
You have a 161 if I remember correctly.
    Would you share ballpark figures?
I would love to go again from my 3 series as boredom has set in for something else in 181/2 but am almost scared to ask the question. There is an all new 3 coming the end of next year so think it might be good time to move before mine is the old model( at least this is how I am rationalizing it to myself) and its value gets even worse. I did well on my gti when I traded but it appears values have really taken a dip this year.
