Never played the first 2 but watched enough gameplay videos on YouTube to be excited for this lol. The scale of those games was actually pretty impressive, wonder how the 3rd will compare to other game world's like far cry 4

Please go play number 2 its such a fun game and very cheap now I'd imagine.

I wonder will there be multiplayer at launch... not that it wouldn't stop the modders if there isn't.

I found the second game a massive chore, it was essentially the same group of missions and objectives copy pasted over the different sections of the world 4 or 5 times. The core gameplay was great but I couldn't see passed it's lazy repetitiveness.

I'd be open to a new game if they were to mix it up more.

Can't find the link now but there were some leaked screens of JC3 leaked last week that showed microtransactions for things like renting vehicles for a few days with both in game and real world money , could be early development stuff and not final game stuff .......... I hope. I believe they were very early screens though these days a stunt like that would be far from surprising.

I enjoyed JC2 for a while but it got very repetitive. The game mechanics were excellent though, if they could structure a story around it I think it could be a great game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,669 ✭✭✭who_me

The main storyline in JC2 was VERY cheesy, but I did find the free-roaming / sandbox play a lot of fun. Yes, it was very repetitive in terms of "do these tasks in 100s of locations", but there were so many ways of approaching it that it added a lot of variety. On foot/bike/boat/car/tank/chopper/fighter/airliner. Hop from one to the other. Tie a bike rider to a building and see him knocked off. Tie a jeep to a helicopter and drop it on top of a mountain, and ride the jeep all the way down.

I actually found it less boring than more recent, highly rated games like Shadow of Morder and AC: Black Flag.

Anyone actually finish 1 or 2?

40 odd hours playing 2 and doubt I am even close to the end.

Finished 2 was about 60 hours, but was taking my sweet time. Played the first after that but it's pretty bad in comparison.

I Put about 50 hrs into 2 but I cant remember if I finished it or not.

I never finished 2. But Christ did I love the game.

Spent two whole hours trying to jump out of a helicopter and fall back inside it

Dont agree, that might have been true for JC1 but the story related missions in JC2 were absolutely spectacular, really well designed, assaulting mountain fortresses, chasing down rockets in a MiG, too much other stuff to mention. One of my favourite games of all time, cant wait for 3.

I liked the idea of 2 but I didnt love it, too may missions revolved around "kill all the enemies" and the minimap was no help at telling you their relative altitude in comparison to you. spent hours trying to find one guy who was perched atop a skyscraper nearby.

    Liked JC2,

I didnt like having to blow up every air conditioner, water tower or signpost to capture an area.

Still though rob a jet plane and blowing the sht out of everything was uber fun. One thing I kept trying to do but never got to accomplish was attach a statue head to an aeroplane. Anyone else get this work?

Hmmm, exact same dictator statues, church towers, oil refineries, vehicles, aircraft, terrain, weapons etc etc. Hope they have a lot of good missions ready to go because that looks like a HD texture pack not a sequel, I played the **** out of 2 though so Ill probably still get it, the plot missions were some of the most fun you can have in a game...

    Great game

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,878 ✭✭✭Robert ninja

They should really focus on the detail in the mayhem. Being able to specifically pull off a vehicle's door with the hookshot, shoot from hanging onto any part of veichle/terrain, multiple hookshot lines (that can possibly even be used as traps for oncoming cars) and things like that is what allows people to create their own unique setups and is what makes the series fun so I really hope there is massive potential for that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,128 ✭✭✭✭aaronjumper

All of the yes. Looks great. I hope they improve car handling while they're at it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,439 ✭✭✭Josey Wales

Looks like it will be pretty fun to play just like the last one. I picked that up quite cheaply after it had been out a while. I can see myself doing the same here as there will be a lot of competition late in the year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,516 ✭✭✭✭VinLieger

I will be buying this no question and as soon as the 2nd one goes on sale on steam again I'll be picking it up to play with the madness that is the multiplayer mod which the creators of were subsequently hired by avalanche to make the multiplayer for this game

    Ten features from the trailer
    1. The Wingsuit

The Wingsuit will allow Rico to swoop across Medici at breakneck speeds, using the grapple hook to slingshot through caves and tunnels, as well as under bridges and down mountainsides.

    2. Multi-tether

The grapple hook has taken a big leap forwards since the last game, with one of the biggest features being the ability to tether up to 5 things together. There are so many opportunities for creative destruction whether it be creating car catapults or hanging a bus from a helicopter and using it as wrecking ball.

    3. MASSIVE Explosions

Medici is a world that is packed with petrol stations, electrical substations and huge fuel tanks that are just asking to go “boom”, every explosion has the potential to trigger another which will create an epic chain of fiery destruction.

    4. Cascading Destruction

JC3 has a new physics-based destruction system which means that everything breaks, crumbles and falls apart in real-time, according to your actions – nothing is pre-canned.

    5. The “Reeled Hang”

Another new grapple technique which will allow Rico to adopt this unique position when hooking onto the underside of anything in the world, allowing him to unleash chaos from above, even when upside down.

    6. Destructible Vegetation

Not even the plants and trees can avoid Rico’s wrath. Blowing trees to bits with rockets, smashing through fences and vineyards in buses…even the downforce of low flying helicopter rotors will flatten beautiful fields of lavender or sunflowers.

    7. Monorail trains

Monorails are a completely new addition to the Just Cause vehicle mix, bringing with it a wealth of creative opportunities for those who like to take a walk on the wild side.

    8. Serious Miniguns

There’s nothing “mini” about this bullet-spraying behemoth. When wielding this, Rico can carve through just about anything in his path, like a hot knife through butter.

    9. Bridge Destruction

Shoot out the struts from below, or lay your unlimited C4 on the asphalt to blast huge holes through the road and send your pursuers crashing down to earth in your wake.

    10. Stunting

Rico can now walk freely across the top of all the vehicles found in Medici, from the wings of planes, the tops of monorail trains to the bonnets and boots of automobiles. This allows him even more freedom, running and grappling from one rooftop to another and performing crazier stunts than ever before.

    Film Making 101 - Show, don't tell.

That narration added precisely nothing to that trailer other than to make it worse. Literally everything he said was simultaneously shown on screen. It is making me sad.

^ I muted the video and played some tunes while watching the gameplay.

Overall it looks like a better game but I feel like we really need to see some players have a go at it before we can really get a sense of the freedom of destruction available. Blowing up bridges... ok we get it. What else? All the same ****? Step it up, lads.

It's funny seeing them add the multi hookshot mod as a basic feature now. Good addition.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,061 ✭✭✭✭Thargor

Hmmm, looking forward to it but did they have to have you blowing up the exact same petrol stations/fuel tanks/refineries/dictator statues etc etc as the other 2? Could be getting a bit repetitive the third time round...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,558 ✭✭✭✭dreamers75

This game needs to be harder, give plentiful ammo for the good guns and drop in coop.

Thats it really other than that more of the same :)
