So, got through Donadea 50k unscathed :D:D
A lovely event which lived up to the plaudits its been receiving year on year.
A great crowd of characters about the place and some dedicated supporters around the course.
Was great to finally meet Tang and Firedance. A pleasure...
Was sorry I couldn't wait around to meet some of the others though, but I was to cold, tired and stiff to head back to coffee shop. Plus, I had that drive home to contend with :(

The only thing I had against Donadea was the ungodly hour I had to get up at to travel to it :D:D

4 precautionary recovery miles this evening. Felt nice and relaxed, body/legs/feet feel good with no aches :)

Easy paced runs for the remainder of the week just to be sure....

Fantastic run Marty! Didn't know you were doing it. Would have wished you well if I had!
Great to come out the other side feeling good and strong. Brilliant running!

    Friday 19/02/2016 Rest

    Saturday 20/02/2016 10 miles @ 7:53

Didn't manage to get out on friday, no excuses really. I just kept pushing out the time and before I knew it it was to late...

Nice 10 miles this evening, light rain and light rain and really enjoyed it.

Voice is back now... Sorry, I never mentioned it. My voice went during the week suddenly. No sore throat, not sick, just the voice went... Really strange.... All good again though and I can get back to annoying everyone in work again :)

Wasn't feeling to enthusiastic about the long run on Sunday as I had some wine on Saturday evening. Anyway, dragged myself out around midday to get it over with. It wasn't to bad once I got into it but was fairly tired towards the end. Happy to get it done though.

4 mile recovery run this evening, nice and handy....

    Tuesday 23/02/2016 6 miles @ 7:46

    Wednesday 24/02/2016 10 miles @ 7:19

2 similar runs where I increased pace up to the midsection before easing off gradually
for the remainder of the run.

I found the 10 mile run this evening tough enough going tbh, but felt good after the run.

Wondering if I'll be able to hit HMP for kinvara at all after this run :D:D

Were you running around Dangan yesterday evening? It was busy with runners. Every time I'm there I wonder if I'm crossing paths with either you or TBL

I wish I was B, I wish I was.... I have not shown anything to tell me I'll be anywhere near my PB, I don't think I'll get near 1:30 at all in fact. All this years races I've been well off pace....

You'll be well behind me from a supportive perspective, that's about as far as that goes :D:D

Well Neady, hows everything with you? Not out in dangan lately, I usually go out there as part of the odd long run, not lately though :) We need a secret boards cough as we pass other runners :D:D

Don't friggin tempt me..... Although, given your rate of progression, and my regression, you could well say fook it, and breeze past me :D:D

Planned 1:30 .... It scares me even typing that :D

I'll hop on that bus at the start, but I'll likely be thrown off at the second stop for having an invalid ticket :D:D:D

    Thursday 25/02/2016 Rest

    Friday 26/02/2016 7 miles @ 7:58

Thursday evening I was sat on the couch when all of a sudden I got a cramp in my right calf, not just the usual dart, this lingered like a mofo and had a job to get it to release :D:D:D It was actually sore for a good while after so I didn't bother going for a run, I just massages it occasionally for the night feeling sorry for myself :):)

This evening I did a steady relaxed 7 miles in a new pair of adrenalines.... Love them..... Must post in the running shoes thread about them and another great shopping experience in gottarun #RunningMatters....(formerly amphibian king oranmore)......

    Saturday 27/02/2016 20 miles @ 8:24

    Sunday 28/02/2016 5 miles @ 9:00

Had some spare time on Saturday so decided to pull the long run in a day early while I was feeling lively :D:D
Did what I would call a 3 point general run. The idea is to hit 3 point on the map and figure out the route as you go... It's fun for me as I have absolutely no sense of direction :D:D Went for Claregalway/Oranmore/Galway City and it worked out pretty well as I didn't have to do laps of the estate to make up the mileage :D:D

The run itself went fairly well with no issues of note. A small lull around the 14/15 mile mark but snapped out of it soon after and continued on happy enough...

5 recovery miles this evening to round things off...

    Happy/excited/nervous to see it's 6 weeks to go :eek::eek:
After this marathon, I may take a different approach to my
    marathon races :D:D

Whaddya mean 'figure out the route as you go'

I spend hours (sometimes days...) planning mine :D

and actually, while I have you, you'd better tell us the location of the red carpet you'll have rolled out for us on Saturday?? I don't like to get my runners dirty :p

Thanks for the good wishes guys. . Happy enough with the run. 1:30:01 ffs 😂 was sure I dipped under by a few seconds but sure that's irrelevant really.. Happy with it in the end running long sections alone.

Was good to meet some of the rotterdam crew but didn't get a chance for a proper natter with them this time unfortunately..

Hope the recovery goes well for everyone...

Ps That mayo man made a show of me again ☺

As I said before, when Galway takes on Mayo there can be only one outcome....

Those official splits are gun times not chip. The clock was indeed 1:30:01 as you hit the mat. I think I was robbed of 6 seconds and since we started together I'll award you 1:29:55 :-).
Very good for running solo into that wind.

Did yourself and tang come up for the tea afterwards? I thought I might see yourselves and a few other Boardsies there but maybe I missed ye while I wad getting the rub down.
