Ha ha this comes up everytime kilkenny is mentioned anywhere. I'm in my third year in college and me and another guy from kk in the class were still arguing with the rest of the class over the whole town situation it's not but we won't go there :)

But ye have a Town hall, not a city hall.

Yep the dealer is throwing the in mud gaurds so it's not too bad. He wants the deflectors as he has this thing about driving with the window I'll mention it about the noise though. Just on the mirrors do they fold electrically as we couldn't see a button inside to do it maybe it's an fr feature. I'll look into the boot protector that would be a very good idea.

Should be a switch on the door for it, from the factory they close in when you hold the key for a few seconds too. It's just another setting on the knob that controls the mirrors.

Rad out for a good clean
    5n7l0y.jpg

Almost finished stripping it. Just the brakes and exhaust left really. Not sure on wheter to take the PAS out or not. Anyone know if there is good forums for asking such questions, organising track days and the like? Anyone on here doing this kind of stuff?

Free bulb replacement for any BMW until Nov 30th (including Xenons)
"See and Be Seen" is a very bright idea from BMW Service Authorised workshops. Drop in between October 1st and November 30th and get any non-working bulb on your BMW, including xenons, replaced free of charge, while you wait. With the darker winter nights drawing in, it’s the perfect way to ensure you’re prepared for the road ahead.

Right. NCT booked for the 25th of November...
We'll see what the car fails on :pac: if anything costly, I'll get me some bangernomics until this thing is fixed for next NCT.

Try irishmoc.org for your Mitsubishi needs, I think there's also a New Zealand forum with a savage wealth of information on mivec and other performance mitsubishis.

Wouldn't take out the pas myself, I'd take out the a/c though, easy enough to get a shorter belt to suit with it removed.

Keep an eye on mondello parks website & facebook page for details on upcoming open track days.

Not a trace of aircon in the car now :). I even took the heater system apart last night to take out the aircon heater matrix thing beside the blower. It had been disconnected before using a shorter belt but it was all still there. I'd like to get someones experience on the partucular car with and without the PAS, will check out them sites, cheers. Some say leave it in others say take it out. It will never see the road again so not worried about having to park it. It's a big enough unit on the car, with a seperate tensioner too.

Found an odd thing on the throttle body last night. Couldn't figure out why the throttle body was plumbed up to the coolant system. After about an hours head scratching  we went on google and found it's to heat the TB in icy conditions. It will be getting bypassed soon for more power :pac:.

Lollipop traffic wardens need to stop being a thing also.

Silly one of them standing in the middle of the road with their stupid stick blocking an ambulance with lights and sirens blaring rushing towards a hospital !!!

You seem to be on the ball with it anyway :) , Must be an RS model is it? I see a slighly chunkier exhaust manifold there? Evo 4 front twinpots should pop right on there, and strut braces from same.

Good mate of mine built a track car from an RS a few years back, (colt shape shell) had a lot of simple mods done to it that made a lot of difference, Ill see if I can find his build log, (might be on irishmoc) He also had some tasty mods - cusco coilovers, cat-less with a fujitsubo cat-back (incredible noise from it) Bolt in cage, some seam welding done I think too. Good luck with the build, are you gonna do a build log for us? :)

We were talking about dmf's in chemistry today. Pity it was dimethylformamide and not the flywheel kind :)

I had a lecture last year on spacers Used in some biotech drugs.
I can't remember the drugs or what module the lecture was in (I've zero interest in research) but all I remember was thinking about alloy wheels every time the lecturer mentioned it.

Didn't think anyone would notice that! it's an RS ye!

Will the EVO4 caliper go straight onto the RS carrier? We thought that originally but I can't find a definite caliper, carrier, disk and pad combo that works without any fabrication. We have only a drill and a bench grinder :D. It has 1.5 brakes in the bin at the moment that must have been fitted by a previous owner a few years back for whatever reason. Tiny little yolks. Probably not even the right carrier. We were just going to get stock RS brakes again and stick them on unless we can find another combo that works. Any links to that would be great.

I've got stupid eyes, not even much size difference in them :pac:

I'm not sure exactly, I think he just put on evo 4 ones straight up, (bare shell build - so hubs etc were from a 96 mivec lancer) but just a thought now, are the RS brakes not twin-pot as standard? Dont recall my mate doing any fab for the calipers. Disk remained as standard iirc & used evo pads. I'll go digging here now, not a member of irishmoc, I'll join up (as it happens my current hack is a mitsi :))

Ye standards are twin pot on the RS. Maybe slightly smaller pistons than the evo. Might not be worth the hassle fitting the evo's is what we were thinking last night, unless we know that everything will fit.

I honestly can't for the life of me remember if it was a disk & pad combo he put on, but it was definitely a bolt on application (he did upgrade the lines & master cyclinder too but it wasn't a necessity) but I'm certain a mitsi forum will answer that for you fairly sharpish.

Waiting on acceptance to the mitsi forum, once im in ill point you to his build. :)

Ye I think the M Cyl. will still be good, the EVO pots are only a little bigger. With what your saying it sounds more promising for the EVO calipers going on, if... the lancer mivec hubs are the same as the ones on the RS:confused: Must get on that forum tomorrow.

Heading up now to the shed now do a bit of tidying. We've **** every where :D. Hopefully get the arse up on stands and get the exhaust off if it's not too late.

Quite exciting indeed, the original plan was to go over in January but I pushed it forward a month! Scheduled to get the keys to our new house the following week too so an exciting month overall for us.

My tddi badge arrived today. Plain black writing, none of this red D red I styte as seen with vw! :P :pac: Need to reapply the focus badge too. Hardest thing is trying to gauge where they are supposed to stick on....

I hate trying to put on anything like that. When I got the boot fixed and sprayed on the golf after the trailer incident :( the guy stuck on the I crooked and it was the first thing I spotted but he fixed it anyway. I'm getting way to particular about car exteriors :) what was wrong with the old badge ? The mk2 focus are all td red ci badges regardless of engine bhp output which makes no sense as it used to be a way of differentiating between the outputs.

Oh ya I'm well aware of the specification of Ford's badges, just wanted to give the oul vw fanbois a bit of a dig ;) :pac:

There wasn't a tddi badge on it at all! I've a feeling the boot was resprayed at some stage, and the focus badge was placed back on the wrong spot. I took it off (brought paint with it!!) and will put it back on the proper left hand side.
