It's made from the ground-up meat of the Whorley, a semi-mythical beast that roams the mountains of Wesht Kerry and is said to be half-llama, half-goat and half-Jackie Healy-Rae. Or it could just be a regular hamburger made with a batterburger instead of the usual pattie. :pac:

Oh I see, food for the effluent.:D

Strictly at the Chippers (San Remo's, Ashbourne):

    - Hotdog + Chips + San Remo Special Burger [Double decker] -or- Half Pounder (If I'm starving)

Their chips are the best I've tried thus far.

The vinegar makes them soggy. Ask them to just for a sprinkle of salt only.

I never get vinegar, chipper chips are just too soggy for me. If chips aren't properly crispy then I want nothing to do with them!

Ray when available, or fresh cod and chips.

    Glazers Out!

Follow up study by Prof. Stefano Mariani of the University of Salford in January 2014 found 41.7% of Fish sold as Cod in the Dublin chippers sampled came from another species.

    Also says
41.7% of fish was still mislabelled as cod (compared to 50% in 2010)
Which would suggest this 41.7% figure is a combination of fresh & smoked. I would like to see the new figures for fresh & smoked.

It doesn't bother me personally, I just want a decent tasting white fish. Just pointing out to those who are bothered that fresh ones are usually more likely to be cod. Most "fresh cod" is frozen.

Forgive my ignorance, but what in the name of Valenti, is a Whurley burger? is that the sound it makes when its coming back up?

It's basically a quarter-pounder with cheese and all the rest, except the quarter-pounder itself has already been battered and fried. Often topped with a fried egg too.

Depends, it goes between a few things, in order of preference.

    Order 1:
Dinner Box and Donner Kebab (No garlic sauce).

    Order 2:
    Smoked cod and chips

    Order 3:
1/4 pounder (not paying extra for a slice of fúcking cheese) and chips.

The first, and possibly only, time I went to a chipper in England, I asked for fish and chips. What's the deal with them contaminating the whole plate with mushy peas? I didn't ask for mushy peas as they are disgusting to taste, smell, or even look at!

    Sacrilege!
    Mushy peas are God's snots.

If an ITICA chipper - junior/snack box and battered sausage...maybe a smoked "cod".

If not...cod and chips with lemon and tartar sauce.

    All with salt and vinegar.

Gotta be a snackbox. There's a pretty good chipper on Mountjoy Street, snackbox for €6 I think. Could feed a small army with it.

Breast in a bun, garlic & cheese chips and a bottle of orange.

Here in London they look at you like you've two heads if you ask for garlic & cheese chips :( Thank goodness my local kebab shop has learned how to do it properly for me! :pac:

Large chips with lashings of salt and vinegar

    Quarter pounder with cheese

    Battered sausage

Can of coke (with condensation dripping off the bastard)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,579 ✭✭✭charlietheminxx

Either a snack box or a batter sausage and chips. Everything drowned in vinegar. Lots of vinegar. ALL THE VINEGAR!

Since cutting down on processed food/fast food I bought a bottle of chipper vinegar to put on my healthy home made chips. They don't taste the same, but it's enough to keep me going between the odd treat.

    Wurly burger and chips

This thread has got my stomach rumbling, years ago I lived in Cork and a Jackie Lennox feed of a Sunday evening was the business.

Chips, 1/4 pounder with salad and cheese and a potato pie or cheese and onion pie, maybe even one of each. I'm sure its still there, I'd be tempted to do the 3 hour drive if I thought it was still the same...

Chicken tenders meal usually. Sometimes battered sausage meal.

Chipper chips are horrible, they're so soggy

Aye, there's not many chippers that do a daycent chip. There's only a couple in the whole of Leinster that I know of.

Snack box. I live near one of the best chippers in Dublin and their chips are fab.

    Jesus I'm starving.
