From Jamie Jackson who covers united and city for the guardian.

As above Jackson is the main City correspondent for the Guardian so he would have been officially briefed on this.

City have Aguero and Dzeko so they will not risk Jovetic if there is concerns over his hamstring.

At this rate a lot of people will be forced to play their wildcards just to remove the injured players.

Was considering Jovetic out as a certainty already so this is no disaster.

Jovetic injury would be great news for Aguero owners. 3 big games in a week for City would mean that Aguero is a big rotation risk however if Jovetic is out, Aguero is nailed on to play most of GW 4 and 5 barring injury

Does anyone know if I use my wildcard this week do I get to keep my banked transfer?

What's peoples opinion on Welbeck? Likely to do well? Seems good value to me wonder will he start for Arsenal...?

Just prepared my team for this weekend as WC thoughts were being to creep in.

Not looking too bad at all and has banished any urges.

Love having Rodwell as my 5th midfielder. Zero temptation when everyone is fit but gives a little hope when he has to be drafted in.

Can go with a 4-5-1 this week with the majority of my players at home.
Could go back to 3-5-2 if Costa is confirmed out for a few weeks I may take a hit to get Mario in for a 4 week punt. Tasty fixtures.

brought costa in just before the international games to avoid a price rise on him and fall on rooney. GUTTED !!!

Which in turn makes it good news for the non Aguero owners as we all know what happens when Sergio plays 3 games in a week ☺

So essentially it's great news for Dzeko owners?!

Was a silly idea in fairness. We should have all learnt by now that transferring players in when they still have another game elsewhere to play is a suicidal idea.

In previous years it was a worthwhile risk due to the speed of price increases on certain players in order to aid one's bank. This year however with the slow down of price increases and decreases the risk of early transfers has become much less necessary.

This year it looks like Thursday/Friday transfers are the way to go.

They should just get rid of the price rises and falls altogether.

I don't know why people get their knickers in such a twist about price rises and drops. It's worth a little bit of attention but people who get stung on injuries when they've used transfers to try and increase team value deserve no sympathy. Game is supposed to be a bit of craic about beating your mates and getting the most points. Some people checking price rises/drops on a daily basis. Nonsense.

It would make the game far too easy if they did.

How so? Most other Fantasy Football competitions have set prices.

Until this year it defintely gave you an edge. Not as much as some people think imo, but defintely a slight edge. All it takes is 2-3 mins a day to keep an eye on it, hardly an arduous task.

Much better craic playing against mates when you actually beat them (plus an added financial benefit) as most people on here ultimately do.

Some people on here have won serious cash over the years. A few minutes a day checking price rises, probably works out above minimum wage for some!

Exactly. For some including me it's what makes the game addictive. If prices didn't affect your short and long term ability to get the team you want and it was just a case of making a transfer once a week with no pressure on it would be quite boring in my opinion.

Also, having 112m of a budget vs 108 is potentially quite a considerable advantage in closing out your league. Unless some cheaper players go on incredible form meaning people have cash to spare you will have at least one premium player more than your rivals. Those struggling to fit a big three forward line will be easily able to do it and have a balanced team if they gain value ahead of the pack.

    It's certainly not "nonsense".

As noted already however it's less effective this year so far, however as I said in another thread I think it will be more a case that people not aware of prices changes will end up losing a lot on drops and may only have 103m this January. Many in my leagues have resale values less than 100m already.

Think he will be a good option if he plays up front.

Because he's "doubtful"... But he was "doubtful" last GW too...

Agreed. But where else could he play?

He got injured (hammy) and missed the game tonight, didn't rise in price and Rooney didn't drop. OP could have kept FT, played Rooney v QPR at home and still afforded to get him out for Costa next week when he should definitely be back (still expect an appearance v Swansea)

I'm guessing OP has no free cash banked so Rooney dropping and Costa rising would have meant a -4 to make a transfer to get the extra 0.2. If that's the case I reckon it was the right move at the time.

    Wide left or right.

Welbeck is great value for a third striker but I'll wait a few weeks until Arsenals fixtures pick up and hopefully Arsenal will be in better form by then too.

On first thoughts I would inclined to think the same regarding the fixtures but it's not like as if Arsenal aren't capable of scoring in these games and if Welbz is upfront then he has as good a chance of bringing home the bacon as anybody.
