    Thanks Ben.
Glad to know it's not an isolated issue. I'll change router settings this evening and see how it goes. Thanks for the reply.

No problem Damien. Here is where the issue has been reported to CyanogenMod - https://jira.cyanogenmod.org/browse/BACON-1073

Thanks anyway. Im sticking with the 25R battery life then, havent really seen anything to make me want to move off it tbh.

I went from 25R to 38R and see no difference in battery life.

I created a backup from custom recovery and copied the file to my computer, I presume that in case I reset the phone I would need to do all the rooting again, copy the backup file to the phone storage and from custom recovery restore it, is that right?
I am doing this because I want to install the rooted 38r update from custom recovery and in case something happens I have at least a back up  (as I am not sure about the exact steps to follow to update the ROM)

Yes to restore a backup just press restore in custom recovery and then click on the backup you made.

The rooted update is fine I have been using it the past 3 days. (or how ever long it has been out 2,3 or 4 days. I forget)

If no one turns up a fix, I may just root and install a custom rom. My one is way too buggy.
Thanks for getting back to me.

I may be just lucky but my phone has been perfect on 33R and also now on 38R. I never had the multi touch issues or any of the other ones some people report.

Power volume down reset, got into Android but no wifi, no signal. I do factory reset. I reboot and it gets to Android boot logo and reboots, sometimes gets to pick cm language . People are complaining of similar on official forum. Ive two weeks questions

    1. I have a file saved to sd, what's the best way to retrieve the file considering i cant ger phone on long enough to copy it over.
    2. Best solution that isnt unlocking bootloader, sideloading old cm firmware?

I haven't heard or read about any issues with the update in different forums but I am thinking that the best way is not to upgrade as of yet, 33R and working fine without the slightest issue, the wifi issue that I had was linked to battery guru as oppose the the ROM itself so I fixed it :D.

    Hi all,

Anyone got any suggestions as to what might cause my battery to drop to 15% on 8.5 hours??? I updated to 38R a couple of days ago but didn't notice a rapid battery drain until today.

Same happened to me, mediaserver took up 30% of my battery. I'm not sure if it's due to the update yet, as mediaserver issue is a common android issue.

    Hi Damien,

It's a known issue. 2.4Ghz WiFi doesn't perform well with Bluetooth turned on. If you have a dual band WiFi router just use the 5Ghz band and you'll be fine. If you only have 2.4Ghz you need to power off the phone and then use the WiFi without turning Bluetooth on. Turning off Bluetooth isn't enough, you need to re-boot to clear the settings.

I'm sure this will get fixed in a future update as it's a known reported issue.

This would be a deal breaker for me. Frequently use tunein or google music to stream to Bluetooth speakers/earphones. UPC hardware only allows 2.4 GHz. (Couldn't be botherered setting up a bridge and new wifi router.

I have a 2.4ghz tp-link router + UPC broadband. There is a speed drop when streaming tunein via Bluetooth but not enough to be a problem 12.3 down & 9.3 up with Bluetooth on and 31& 9.6 with it off.

    Edit: Om 38r OTA update

I had a problem with WiFi dropping when my Bluetooth was on with 33r but I've just checked it now on 38r and there's no difference in speeds with Bluetooth on or off.

    Must have fixed it.

Anyone know how to change the lock screen clock widget?

What way are you trying to change it? There's some options in settings/lock screen.

Guys, what's the current recommended method for rooting 38R?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,407 ✭✭✭✭TitianGerm

Guys two questions with the One,

What does TTY in the settings mean ? See photo. Gotten to by going to the call app then settings

And how do you stop the phone saying incoming call from so and so. That's only been happening since updating.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,045 ✭✭✭KilOit

I just stupidly updated to R38 and i have not root access any more and a lot of my apps stopped working, how do you reverse it?
i backed up with titanium but that won't work now with no root access and i backed up with superU when i was updating but that wont work now.
    What to do?

How are you all finding battery life to be? I seen to run it low enough to need charging by the end of the day. Have only been using it a few days though so maybe it's a bad reflection ?

Once the novelty wears off your screen time should fall!

Depends on how you use it. I'm a fairly heavy user and after a day (8 a.m - 9.pm) It'll be on 20 odd percent which is fine with me as I was coming from an iPhone 5s and would need to charge it once if not twice throughout the day.

My nexus 4 would last me up to 30+ hrs some days with WiFi on, using data all day it halved most days. Should I be able to manage the same out better?

I'm after some method to apply themes and where to get them. Using themer which works well but I haven't found something that really works for me, also loses all icons each time I change the theme. Would be better if it worked with cm
