Still got to watch the bands for the network you plan on using it with though, 1800 for 3 is perfect, not sure about the rest...

MY VF contract is up in 4 weeks so I need to know which networks can offer me 4G.

As far as I can tell from this thread Three are the only network which offer 4G which is compatible with the OPO is that correct?

Where can you set the bands? I'm with 3.
No you dont set the bands or anything like that, the phone comes from the factory capable of receiving and transmitting certain bands, you have to make sure your network and the phone are compatible before you buy. If you're on three you have nothing to worry about.

I think so but I havent fully researched it, I just made sure Three were okay before I bought, theres a chart going around that answers these questions, someone will post it.

That would be great. Might be an idea to post it in the first post of the thread for future ref also.

Im on a bus atm but this is the thread that will answer your questions:

    https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/members-from-ireland.1698/

You have to register an account to view that forum but bear in mind that's the account that you will use to cash in your invite and buy the phone so use your proper details if you're asked.

Lads any of you here own a Nexus 7 2013 as well as this phone? Thinking of ordering the Nexus for reading and general browsing.

Just wanted to see a side by side pic of it v the 1+ cause I'm a good drive away from a PC world, Curry's, etc.

Have my OPO since Thursday and its great. Just one problem - its not picking up my parrot hands free in the car.

    Any ideas why?

Clear any pairings on the parrot, that worked for me.

Note II. The OPO screen is more crisp in person than the Nexus 7. It looks the other way round in the pic.

Here's the 4G spectrum auction results - doesn't help much from what I can see.

    2h88zkj.jpg

    Full article here http://www.siliconrepublic.com/comms/item/30238-comreg-reveals-4g-auction-r

Looks like everyone has both 800, 900 and 1800 Mhz spectrum to use except Three who don't have 800 Mhz but as they have just acquired O2 they do now.

The question is what networks have rolled out 4G on what bands?

Give the DPI trick mentioned in this thread a try on the OPO screen, think I changed mine to 410 or thereabouts, makes the icons look crisp as fcuk.

At the moment both Three and Meteor/E-Mobile work with the OPO on band 3 1800mhz. Vodafone use band 20 800mhz, which is not supported by the OPO, but according to the wikipedia article so do Meteor/E-Mobile.

So for the time being the most compatible network is Three, followed by Meteor/E-Mobile, which could potentially have signal issues if they decide to deploy LTE using band 20, but not band 3 in an area (pure speculation until someone produces evidence of them doing this), and Vodafone are completely incompatible.

So for the lifetime of the phone ~2yrs if you want LTE you best get Three or Meteor/E-Mobile. There's no way of knowing when, if ever Vodafone are going to utilise band 3 1800mhz. It could be next week, it could be never!

It finally arrived! Beautiful phone. So far I've been able to find everything I need app wise (moving over from iOS so it's all new). I had forgotten what it was like to have a phone that wasn't sluggish and slow. It is taking me a long time to get used to the size of it but I'm seriously impressed. The only problem I have so far is that the charging is quite slow. Other than that It's all good!

Anyone want to buy an iPhone 4. It's a great phone I swear! :p

Are you using the supplied cable? Mine charges from 0-100% in roughly 1hr 40mins.

I actually changed it to 380 at first and it was a shock, so changed it to your recomendation of 410 and it is still taking me a while to get used to. I will leave it at 410 for a few days and see how I get on.

Yep I am. I am constantly using it so maybe that is slowing it down. This is a TOTAL newbie question so forgive me but what is the best way to get music onto it?

Yeah it charges slower with the screen on & using it will definitely make it go slower :D. Connecting to a computer with the supplied cable & copy and pasting in windows explorer? Alternatively if you have shared folders on your network with your music you could download es file explorer, find your folders in the lan section and copy and paste using the phone over wifi.

I'm using a Mac. I just downloaded Android File Transfer and its working fine. I need proper time to sit down and figure it out but I just need some music for the bus tomorrow morning for now! I shouldn't be this obsessed with a piece of tech.

Dont forget to change the drawer settings in the launcher aswell to squeeze more apps onto the screen.

That's the issue that concerns me about using this phone on the Meteor/Emobile 4G network. Be great if someone could let us know if it works.

Are you using a 2.1amh plug or higher?

You get a free month with Google music. Access to most music. Download with WiFi connection and can listen to it offline. I find I'm listening to a lot of albums I probably wouldn't have gotten otherwise and glad of it.

I think I might even keep the $12 AUD sub up after the free month as well. I have 5TB of music but most of it isn't new albums and Dont want to download illegally. This seems like the cheapest legal option.

    New update is out.
We are happy to announce that the latest OTA update for CM 11S (38R) is slowly rolling out starting today!

This CM 11S 38R release comes with a new firmware that improves the responsiveness of the touchscreen; a new and very cool lockscreen; the ability to take photos in RAW format, enhanced audio capabilities (now the One lets you play high resolution music—24 bit, 96/192khz—flac/alac/wav files without resampling); now that health is that important, we’ve added ANT+ support; and a slew of bug fixes we know you’ve been asking for.

Here’s a comprehensive list of other changes you’ll find in this update:

Added method for users to report bugs directly to Cyanogen.
Added pause button during video recording.
    Improved battery life.
Fixed issues with camera exposure compensation stuck in ‘auto’.
Fixed issues with ‘4G Preferred’ option not connecting to 3G data.
Fixed issues with delay in torch activation.
Fixed issues with unresponsive screen requiring reboot.
Fixed issues with static in speaker when changing volume while headset plugged in.
Fixed issues with rotation not triggering when rotated slowly.
Fixed issues with Quiet Hours / system UI causing battery drain on last day of month.
Fixed issues with camera not starting when LED torch is already on.
Fixed issues with Bluetooth volume low on connection.

Let us know what you think once you've tried it!

Any idea how to change the DPI in the screen without downloading any app such as text textdroid? will that help me squeeze more apps in the screen?

one more thing, some widgets are quite big and take a bit of space, any idea how to resize without losing any piece of information from the widget? cheers

    Yes, change the DPI!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,180 ✭✭✭✭Thargor

DPI changes will shrink the size of the icons but if you're using a launcher like Apex you'll need to change the portrait and landscape grids from 5X4 to 7X5 or similar to get more apps to actually appear.
