My contract with VF is up at the end of Oct. I'd like to stay with them but was planning to switch to Three to get 4G coverage. Any idea when the VF 4G band 3 will be available? How reliable is your info source?
Was on the vodafone community forum and it was the mod who posted the info, here's the link

Here is the link. Basically they are looking at it but no idea when it will be available. I was about to switch over to VF for the 4G but I'll stay where I am for now I'd say.

Hmmm, got into work this morning after a 15 minute walk from my front door. Took off my headphones from my separate Sandisk mp3 player and heard noise from my pocket. The torch was on, the battery was hot, there was a French female robot voice speaking from some app I couldn't identify, there was what appeared to be a childrens story about a cartoon sailor with voice and images playing again in an app I couldn't identify (nothing in the app list when you hold down the Back button) and also Poweramp was on playing random mp3's. Just noticed aswell that Bluetooth was on which I don't use and all my alarms were messed up and switched off.

Looks like Im going to have to disable touch to wake, its just too sensitive for the pocket, pity as I loved it as a feature but it annoys me every day now, I managed to add about 20 new gibberish contacts in a 15 minute walk home yesterday...

I had woeful trouble trying to even get 3G coverage last year on Three when I was in Dublin. It was so frustrating. The deal was brilliant but Unlimited data is useless if I can't get coverage! Maybe I was just one of the unlucky few but I'm wary of going back! At the moment I have unlimited 3G data on Meteor and the usual calls/texts stuff and it will probably do me until VF sort out their side of things.

Nah Three is okay now, still a bit of a cliff the minute you step out of towns or cities but Ive been surprised by how good their 4G is since I switched, moving between Bray and DCC most days.

Very good to hear! What kind of deal are you on at the moment if you don't mind me asking?

Brilliant. Once I get the phone I'll be switching over I'd say. I'll be mainly in Dublin so hopefully it'll be all good. Now if only OnePlus would ship the bloody thing! Anticipation is killing me.

I am trying to decide between the Oneplus or a Nexus 5. Obviously the Oneplus is well ahead in the tech comparisons. The reason for considering the Nexus is that I would prefer a 5 inch & I like to run a lot of apps & widgets which I know the Nexus will do with no problems. I am also not into rooting - well not yet !

So how well does the, out of the box, Oneplus handle widgets ?
Also how does one ask for an invite now that the thread has gone ?

The oneplus is an android so it handles any widget I have thrown at it.
pretty sure you just ask for an invite there and in a few days you will get one.

I feel like a traitor. I just bought a Nexus for €260 new. Too much of a bargain to turn down.

I'm curious what cover exactly was on it? I think it was daytob here who said he dropped his phone a few times and the bumper cover he has protected it. I'm getting the feeling that the rubber bumper covers protect it a lot better than any flip type cover.

So much for the tempered glass protection! Did that shatter too?

Sorry was away for a few days.
Yeah it was just a flip cover so hard plastic on the back, doesn't really come around the phone so no protection to stop it falling on its face.
It only fell about a foot from pocket to road but the damage looks like 2 impact points like a stiletto stood on it, had an ozorly tempered glass screen on it aswell.
Got in touch with lenteen and they said to,send it back and they will fix it, they didn't mention a charge.

I also got in touch with one plus and they quoted 140 or something..
Was going to chance my arm with the new one I bought using the one plus warranty ( hoping they wouldn't check the imei ) but if lenteen are going to fix it then brilliant.

    Ok, just got this yesterday.

First Android phone, and I'm coming from a Nokia, so any tips on what I need to do. Best apps to install, is it worth rooting the phone, etc?

You have about 500 pages of recommendations in the Must Have Android Apps and Games thread:

Just noticed my wifi speeds drop drastically when I've Bluetooth on. Not that big a deal as I only use Bluetooth in the car.

Known issue with 2.4Ghz band WiFi when Bluetooth on. If you have a dual band router at home/work use the 5Ghz band.

On my last Android which was a JellyBean, there was an option on the taskbar when you plugged it in to change it to USB charge only, which doubled the rate at which it charged compared to plugged in as USB storage, it was ignored when plugged into a wall charger.

Whats the story with that on a OPO/KitKat does anyone know? I dont see any options...

Not that important anyway since the battery is twice as good as my last phone.

Any indication as to whether oneplus will make an update to Android L available for this phone and how soon it can be expected after the Android L launch?
