Trivial things that annoy you Part 43

On the topic of waiting to hear back about a job, i made it to round two of the interview stages for a job i was going for in the last few weeks, as part of the process i had to create a web page based on a design i was given by the company i was interviewing for.

I sat in and spent the best part of two days working on this to show off my skills. I had to bring this along to the second round of interview and the two people interviewing me both seemed very impressed and i left feelign the interview went really well.

After, as i was leaving i asked when i should expect to hear back. The interview was on a Tuesday and i asked would it be the following week, i was assured i'd hear back by the end of the week.

Come Monday evening still no word, on tuesday i emailed the recruitment agent who put me forward for the position and he said he was having a call with the company and would get back to me that afternoon, he didn't.

Wednesday lunch time I GOT A FUCKING EMAIL, and not even from the guys who interviewed me, from the fucking agent to tell me i was unsuccessful! Now don't get me wrong if there was someone better qualified or suited for the position fair dues, but after taking two days off work, trekking over to the complete other side of the city and spending a weekend stuck in working on something for the guys interviewing me the least the ignorant pricks could have done is had the decency to give me a call themselves to let me know!

I have literally had to use every ounce of restraint in my body to stop myself from sending a highly unprofessional, extremely wordy email to the main guy interviewing me to let him know how i feel.

Job hunting is stressful enough without ignorant fuckers being plain ignorant!

    Ughhhhh..... goosfraba!

It's certainly tough out there... for this job I ended up doing 3 phone interviews and 3 face to face interviews....

They called me at 11am on a friday for the phone interview and I got a txt two hours later asking if I was available for a face to face that day. I tried to ring and couldn't get through. I got another text which read 'call you later' so I waited all day to hear, rushed home ironed a shirt and rushed back out for the face to face at 6pm.

Albeit, I got the job.... but if you were searching and doing a series of interviews for different companies you would be exhausted with the lenght of the processes these days

Congrats on getting the job! At least your effort has paid off, I'm still stuck in my current position where i am completely taken for granted with no room to grow or progress. Always seems to be the one guy slightly better then me every time i've interviewed so far too! Gets disheartening after a while but just got to keep trying to move forward and not dwell on it i suppose!

Thats exactly me in my current position!

I've been going for interviews here and there for years to be honest. Knock back after knock back. My da always says 'it will happen when it's supposed to happen, what's for you won't pass you' yadda yadda yadda

I'm starting to believe it now, out of all the jobs I went for... this one is closest to home, pays better, room for progression and has come at the right time... so I'd wonder if it's worth tipping away to get better at the interviews and kinda waiting for your moment.

Very best of luck, I know EXACTLY how you feel but I honestly think if you want to work hard and your a good person you will repaid when the time is really right!

Right, I cannot beat anyone's experience with trivial fookin insects but here's my gripe:

Forgot to bring the plug part of the power supply for my Sony Viao this morning with me.
Not an option to return home etc.
Bought new power supply in PC World for €64.99

    That'll teach ye gugleguy :mad::mad::mad:

What will annoy you even more, you can get non-Sony ones online for about 20 euro.

I did my best to get here on time for this appointment, I cannot do anything if the buses just don't show up for more than 20 minutes. I practically ran here despite the reason I'm coming here. And I'm waiting here 45 minutes now. Jesus. I mean ya I know I'm late but why let everyone else get seen first. The people that were here before me I even get, but come on!!

This is another thing that really wind me up, I'm sick of hearing it! My girlfriend is sick of me moaning about money/finding a new job in fairness but constantly throws one of these at me!

Madness! You should have went to one of those little China man phone shops, you could have bought a universal one for about 20 quid!

Shoulda, woulda, coulda... i know, i know

"Hi, all. Just so you know, the new Foobar Gonkulator 2000 also has a fairly large Flibbertigibbet X-50 connected via dual fiberchannel. It's not doing anything at the moment, so if ye have a use for it give me a bell. Live long, and prosper.

Twenty minutes later a meeting invitation arrives, scheduled for two hours in the afternoon to discuss the vexatious question of what they want to do, and to be populated by about a dozen slack-jawed gowls who have been looking for something to do and now by cracky they have it, and they get to waste my time into the bargain. Excuse me while I go and shove a torque-wrench up someone's nose...

Mmm. Multiple interviews are nothing new. For my last two jerbs I had two technical interviews (each with senior heavyweight architect/R&D Director types) and one HR interview. This phone interview malarkey is new to me (aside from a telephone conversation with a junior HR/receptionist device to verify that you're at least human) and frankly it smacks of recruiters/employers exploiting the situation.

And, congratulations on landing the whale! ;)

They're very time-efficient for the headhunters. Personally I consider them unprofessional and rude.

I dunno... I'd sail through a phone interview but I'd get terribly nervous in a face to face interview so seems pointless to me.

I suppose if they want to ring you to make sure your not proper thick and then meet you fair enough.

Wait till someone suggests you start holding interviews via Skype... :pac:

That's fine for large companies like Microsoft, Google and Twitter, but it's unlikely to catch on in Ireland for another while yet, and by then I hope to be living Grizzly Adams style, well off the grid :D

When I left my last job I had an interview where the manager turned around and asked me "do you have any kids?" I answered and she replied good, that she was looking for someone who could commit to the business and "poor mammys can't".

I had friends get ready in my house Saturday night. My best friend, my best friends sister and their mutual friend that I didn't meet before. I have a ridiculous amount of makeup, but my makeup kit is all mac, bobbi brown, a little bit of chanel and some benefit. There's nothing cheap in it. I have a giant case to keep it all in, so it's never thrown around.

Anyway, while I was getting ready I had a blusher in mind that I wanted to use, but found a different one first so used it instead of looking for the other one. Just as I'd put the one I used back in, I found the one I wanted to use because I remember thinking "rage! There it is".
So I finished up my lipstick and went out.

My best friend stayed over. The next morning, we got up and she wanted me to do her makeup. I had 8 foundations from mac, but when I went to get the darkest mac one, it was gone. That's weird, I think. I never wear that shade, it shouldn't be lost. So I put the next darkest on her and said nothing.
Then I was looking for the pink blush I wanted the night before. I knew it was there because I remembered being raging I didn't use it. Tore my whole kit asunder, but it was gone. Couldn't find my mac lustre drops either.

I have about 40 mac lipsticks, so I couldn't tell what's exactly missing but if I wanted to wear a specific pink I'd know the pinks I had so I'd know if one was gone. I did her makeup anyway, we went for lunch and I dropped her home. I was livid, there was over 100 euros worth of stuff gone and it was bugging me.

I went inside with my friend and her mom was there, commented on my friends makeup saying it was amazing and told me I was as glamorous as ever. That got her talking about how she doesn't have any of her own makeup anymore and that she wished she could look like us again. Just general banter, but then she was saying that Chloe (friends sister) had given her a new lipstick. And went to get it.
I looked at it and it was 'Milan mode'. I said to her mom "is that mac? When did you get it". She didn't know if it was mac but said Chloe had bought it and didn't like it. It was a brand new lipstick - I'd never used mine and this wasn't used either.

So, I went home and tore my lipsticks apart Looking for Milan mode. It wasn't there. I rang my friend and came straight out with it. She was mortified, said she thought it was weird Chloe gave mac away as she didn't have mac. I told her about all my other missing stuff. My friend came back over last night to "help" me look.

She "found" the foundation the blush the drops and a concealer I didn't even know was missing under the couch. It "must have fallen out" of the case. It couldn't have though.

I got all my stuff back but I'm fuming. I'm so angry. I'm annoyed I invited people to my house and she stole so much. If I had to replace all that it'd have cost well over 100 euro - 137.50 to be exact. And I'm mad at my friend. I know her sister took it, I'm annoyed she came over to my house and couldn't just hand it back, instead pretending to find it. She had to give me back her moms lipstick but even at that she "didn't think" Chloe would take it.

Well done Sadderday, congratulations, hope you'll be happy in your new workplace! :)

Hang in there SpaceCowb0y, it will happen! Good luck. I know how that feels. I'm waiting for the phone call myself now and it's pretty stressful. Although I haven't applied for any amazing job. I just need something different and hope this will be it. But the rejections as well as not getting back to you are frustrating :(

That sounds like a nightmare but fair play to your friend I don't think I could go trough such process. Which probably explains why I am where I am.
I'm not very fond of phone chats in general and usually Skype with my family only so I really hate phone interviews, I find them worse than face to face.

    Damn washing machine!!!

Our washing machine decided to turn a full white wash of mine blue at the weekend. There were no blue items in the washing machine, I don't even leave the tags on my clothes so it's a mystery and I want to blow a hole in the washing machine with a shotgun.
When I took everything out I was really really annoyed because there was clothes, towels, bed clothes and worst of all, underwear, ruined.
My husband said "ah what's the big deal, it's just underwear?", he fails to realise that all of my underwear is expensive enough because I have big boobies and Penneys stuff just doesn't cut it, in that wash alone 2 bras were ruined, €40 each, and a few pairs of pants, probably around €50 worth. RAGE!!

Waiting for people to show up when they ask you to meet them.

I left my glasses out in my mates house yesterday, called her at 9am, so she sent a text message at 1 o clock saying she'd no credit and to wait outside for her. It was nearly quarter to before she showed up (a trip that should only have taken ten minutes to get across the city, only I didn't want to call her as I hate calling people if I know they're driving).

Meanwhile I was kept amused by some old lady asking for money and the smell of drink off her would fell an elephant. She was alright though, in between cackles, as she told me about her days working in hotels and going to dance halls (before even my time!), her dalliances with men who had no dance partner. How in the name of jesus I kept a straight face as she talked about "rubbin' wi'ha fella, ja'know wha'ha maen?"... :D

Only for my mate turning up with my glasses we'd have been there chatting all day :pac:

The moral of the story is that you have too much make up.

Another royal baby... Honestly, who gives a fcuk? Does the world really need another self entitled little **** that'll never work a day in their lives? The royal family do absolutely nothing, they have no say in how their country is run, and they cost the British economy billions... And people pine over them!

I give a fcuk and I hope the same wasn't said about you when you're mother was pregnant with you.

You've just trivially annoyed me ...and I liked you. :(

I'd say William gave a fcuk at some stage although I've a feeling Harry has been giving here one too on the sly.

On a more serious note I agree. Pure nonsense and we'll be bombarded now with all the rubbish about it being a boy or girl and the name and commemerative plates and whatnot.
