Suddenly there is now two players, and the US has to appease two opposing nations, the one gung-ho to destroy Gaza and it's population, the other completely opposed. So could Hamas then do as it pleases, knowing it's acquired a big brother? It certainly would be a game changer.

Only thing is Iran and Israel are a lot better friends with each other than they let on. Iran and Israel had no reason in 1979 to fall out whatsoever! They don't border each other, have no land dispute and BOTH are anti Arab. Saddam was a common enemy and Saddam was a hero of the Palestinians. Ayatollah Khomeini was a pro-British fraud and part British/Irish (hence the secret oil deals for the Brits and the pro-IRA/Bobby Sands rhetoric for the Irish from the regime in its infancy!!). Ahmadinejad was too much of a caricature to be for real: 100% Saddam Hussein imitator manufactured in the US/Israel to be for real. Designed to fool us all. In the end, Khamenei even got worried he would jeopardise Iran and Israel's cozy little secret alliance.

For one thing, if this vast nefarious plot (that makes no sense BTW, because history records that the Shah was overtly Western friendly - to the point of being a puppet - let the Americans have military bases in Iran and everything) is so "secret" how come you know of it?

Gaza conflict: UN accuses Israel over Jabaliya attack

Israel launched a deadly attack on a UN school housing refugees in Gaza despite repeated warnings that civilians were sheltering there, the UN has said.

Israeli attacks on UN facilities and personnel are becoming far too regular to be a coincidence. Still no comment from Israel about the attack that killed 15 civilians, despite the fact that the UN has said that it inspected the facility and confirmed there were no weapons and warned Israel over a dozen times that the school was housing refugees.

I am sick to my stomach reading the Israeli sympathisers posts on here, nobody with any decency can defend what there doing in Gaza. Even before Hamas was created they were killing women and children and when the PLO signed the Oslo Accord and said they would recognise Israel as a jewish state the Israeli's continued to build illegal settlements. Its the Israelis who are breaking all these deals and people come on here with the cheek to say its all Hamas's fault when in fact Israel as a state was founded on Zionist and Jewish terrorism (educate yourselfs on the Stern gang and the Irgun).

Hamas doesn't seem to need much of a justification to do whatever it pleases anyway though? How much more barbaric could they get? I mean as far as I understand it the bus bombing campaign was never officially called off by Hamas, it just became impractical because of heightened security arrangements making it almost impossible to get suicide bombers through.

The Israelis want to make Gaza a place where no one can live, as in, reduced to concrete rubble. Any excuse to bomb or attack. Israel will keep this campaign going for as long as possible causing the maximum destruction and human misery. The UN will pussyfoot around as usual, masking noises like it can do anything. Nothing will happen to reign in the Israeli terrorists, so long as a Uncle Sam looks the other way, and distracts itself with the Ukraine. Shame on you Obama.

At least 15 people have been killed and 160 wounded in an Israeli air strike that hit a market near Gaza City, Palestinian officials say.

The explosion hit a busy fruit and vegetable market in Shejaiya, east of Gaza City, where hundreds of Palestinians were shopping, a spokesman for the Gaza health ministry said.

Absolutely disgraceful. And I am just after listening to an Israeli spokesperson claim on RTÉ radio 1 right now that the four hour 'humanitarian' ceasefire was only adhered to by Israel. Blatant misinformation is being allowed to go unchallenged across our media.

A journalist was also murdered by Israeli military forces in that airstrike too.

And flotillas of food that will never get through, that's particularly crazy is it not? Flotillas of food to a place no one is starving??? I think there has been a bigger backlash against this Israeli attack than on previous escapades. Not from state actors but in general. The level of awareness about Gaza and by extension the west bank has definitely increased among the general population and the level of revulsion at what was going on was evident across multiple platforms. Maybe that is the only thing to come from this prolonged assault. There will be a lot of maimed people trying to rebuild what is left of their lives, demolished homes, inadequate services, children permanantly disabled and psychologically scarred. A sickening episode in Israels latest attempt to strangle the Palestinian movement towards statehood. This colonial mess will not end well

I feel sorry for jewish people that are not zionist supporters as is probably inevitable that they become tarred with the same brush and then a target for sectarian assaults in some high tension areas. Was good to see members of the jewish community voicing their objections about this latest israeli attack on gaza.
