Saturday Night Takeaway tonight, on Sky's Info Box as "New Series" on TV3.

Tape it and sit down to watch after a while, only to find their "New" series is actually the last series

The new series starts on ITV/UTV tonight.

An hour ago, not much use to the people who recorded it is it?

Red Rock's fallen off the cliff on medialive's figures - 73k and out of the top 20 (sub 65k)

TV3 got 88k for their repeated SNT with UTVI getting 121k for the new episode.

The figures are getting poorer by the week for TV3 . Hard to see red rock surviving on those figures.

well they are getting circa 3 million from the BAI, so that may keep them going.

Figures for RTÉ2, TV3 and UTV weren't all that great. All down towards the end of their top twenties.

Did TV3 show champions league last week?

Also Thursday nights red rock was up against eastenders and Europa league TV3 should have rescheduled

Absolutely awful figures really. Only one programme in the Top 20 between 7pm-9pm during the weekday. Their only saving grace was Champions League which had 177,000. Shows the importance of sport, and at least they've hung onto the rights for 3 more years. Need HD quickly though.

Agreed they should have put Europa League on TV3 (which they are doing this week - but only because it's an early kick-off) and had an hour of Red Rock on Wednesday. I would just go with an hour programme now for Red Rock and place it on Sunday at 9pm.

If they do continue with Red Rock there, it will kill it. Will also be interesting how they schedule it when BGT is on. Normally Corrie goes from Mon-Fri 9pm during the live shows.

No showing for Jason Byrne, 7 O'Clock Show, Bear Grylls, Wentworth, Prison Families in the Top 20 either.

Yes, Chelsea-PSG. They've City-Barca tonight and are wisely upgrading Liverpool's Europa League match to the main channel, so should be pushing 200k with both those.

Agreed about Red Rock – although I still feel it needs to ‘look’ more like a soap too. It’s way too slick.

Also, the Jason Byrne Snaptastic show is actually quite entertaining, would be a better Friday or Saturday night show though

I dunno when it is available in HD for free on UTV/ITV. People would rather watch in HD than in TV3 blocky vision.

That, and midweek soccer never rates terribly highly, even on RTE 2.

Combi Saoview/FTA boxes are available from about €50 .. if people want ITVHD its VERY easily got...

Once the dish and installation is thrown in make that about €300, and it's still not an option for those with restrictive covenants or live in appartments or who rent. And it's a lot to spend it your only interest is watching a game in HD one night a week from a tournament ITV won't even have the rights to in four months time.

Can pick up small dishes cheaply online or whatever .. my father even takes a small dish on holidays and can find the satellite in France. Tbh if people want ITV HD they should go down the sky route and get rid of UPC.. free dish and all :)

Expensive outlay but well worth it for the extra choice in viewing and that's regardless of if ITV has the Champions League or not.

I agree, it's not just ITV HD, but Channel 4 HD, Channel 5, BBC3 HD, BBC4 HD, BBC News HD, as well as BBC1 HD (not just the NI version), BBC Red Button, BBC Wales (for rugby), ITV4 (with no sport blocked), etc.

I wonder if 3e will be given a proper overhaul

4 debates to air in march
    • Religion is a power for good in the world
    • All drugs should be legalised
    • Men can’t be feminists
    • And it’s not possible to have a world-class education system without entrance fees

    Drone fests.

At least they're finally giving 3e some home produced programming. As for the subject matters - they are an odd selection. The drugs and entrance fees ones perhaps are ok for that audience. At least they are not debates on the Kardashians or something like that.

Also hosted by Collette Fitzpatrick, which is good to see. Why they got rid of Midweek is now a mystery. Thought it always brought in a decent amount of viewers on Wednesday night, and looked a lot more polished than The Peoples Debate.

Red Rock with one very good figure (157k) - but it was on after football - and one in line with its current trajectory, 97k.

I've a feeling that if BAI funding isn't forthcoming again this won't be renewed, or at least not on TV3. Its out of place on that channel in the first place.

Its 2 months into a 24 month contract, is it not a little early to be making predictions to whether it will continue or not?

I agree with L1011 to an extent. I don't believe that Red Rock will cause TV3 to drop Red Rock but TV3 will cite it as too expensive and its continued low viewership. However if Red Rock takes off in the next few month (and they will see a drop during the summer months) TV3 still has the rest of its schedule to deal with. The Europa League match proves how important other programmes are to Red Rock, not only to help increase its audience but also to allow it to build an audience and finally help it retain an audience. Red Rock has yet to become a audience catcher unlike the other soaps, and it won't with TV3's set of programmes.

When TV3 let go of Red Rock it is largely because TV3 will be unwilling to let go of half of its own staff and half of its daytime/in studio programming. It will be easier for TV3 to drop Red Rock than The 7 O'Clock Show, they might return it to daytime TV but it will remain because TV3 want 50% Irish programming.

So lets be fair to Red Rock, its a good drama, but it has low viewing figures because TV3 are unable to work out what US, English and Irish programmes work and which ones do not work.

Seriously Cowboy Builders? Bondi Rescue? Long Lost Families?, Gypsy on Benefit? Off their Rockers?

If only TV3 could take to commissioning programmes like TG4, after all they are willing repeat The Pipe over their own propaganda piece on the same subject.

Even if Red Rock gets 300,000 from now, it won't be the replacement for Coro St and Emmerdale. It's unlikely for Red Rock to get to 500,000 each week to make it viable. It's still only an hour of TV a week, in comparison to 5.5 hours of ITV Soaps which average nearly 250,000 viewers (per episode)
