I'd say she's deep into labour or the baby is born by now.

Hi all, as some of you have guessed my little guy has arrived already! After a *very* slow start, 3 gels and a day and a half of minor contractions, the hospital were finally able to break my waters. In the space of 5 minutes I went from period twinges to full-blown, bent double contractions. The midwives were surprised at the speed of all this, something that will become a theme...!

I was admitted to the delivery suite where the pains were coming thick and fast. They told me it'd 'definitely' be the wee hours of the morning by the time he was born and to see how I go, it was still early labour etc. I told them I *needed* the epidural now, I was feeling really out of control at this stage. It worked but only for a while until I insisted on a top up as I was still feeling things really intensely. I thought I was losing the plot as I shouldn't have been in that much pain at that stage and had full body uncontrollable shaking. Then they examined me again and told me I was in fact 10cm!

At this point they were concerned about me as I suddenly developed a high temperature. I had to wait for the doctor to arrive and administer antibiotics before pushing, which was all my body wanted to do at this point. By the time I was told to push, baby's heart rate was seriously dropping so I gave it everything and after 10 minutes he was born, highly unusual for a first timer apparently!

Little Dónal shot into the world at 9.45pm on 8th December weighing a dinky 6lb 1oz. The speed and intensity of his birth had us both in shock, as well as some blood loss for me at the end so we're just getting out of hospital today having finally been given a clean bill of health.

He's an absolute doll and I'd do it again tomorrow. It feels like he's been in our lives forever. We can't wait to show him off <3

Congrats Dolbert, that's fantastic news that you both well and getting home.

I've been in hospital since Tuesday, am 38 weeks and was admitted with unstable lie. This baby is giving me a run for my money and not getting into position at all, keeps changing position. Hoping a decision might be made tomorrow.. Patience is definitely a virtue!

Hope all other Dec ladies keeping well.

Just basically means baby moving all over the place and wouldn't be safe to go into labour especially as spending most of time in transverse (sideways position)
I'm fine thou just playing waiting game..

    Congrats dolbert!!

Well I had an exam today an I'm nowhere near ready to go into labour. Consultant was lovely compared To last week thankfully.

Trace today, some tightening and everything looking fine. Trace again on Monday and a plan put in place then. He said he can't see me being ready for induction then though because I'm not at all close. So I dunno what that means as I'll be 11 days over then.

Mammy is diabetic. Babies of diabetic mothers are usually a bit bigger than normal babies due to high/low blood sugars. He was due Jan 8th and booked in for the 29th Dec. He was 7lbs 15 so would have been quite big if he went full term :)

Edit: Jesus, thought this was the other thread. Baby was born today at 19.07 :) mammy and baby doing great!
