Jaysus sake, they make it sound like you have to be from MotoGP or F1 to do 170km/h without killing yourself

Fingal County Council are certainly not competent to be making decisions about the most important piece of infrastructure on the island. They need to stick to badly designed cycle lanes and deciding on whether Mrs Murphy can have her kitchen extension.

So true, when heading down to overlanders the other day in Gorey I was doing silly o clock on the motorway at the curragh there. Just came around the smooth left hand section and when I did not a car around for miles and such a lovely day it was the perfect combo for a bit of heavy right hand wrist action (no gay puns plz)

If I was pulled I would be proper ****ed, only "Progressing" for a few mins but well worth :P

I think the key thing for a bit of a rip is it has to be in the right place and time....not through little villages etc.

Never in Overlanders do they have a stock shop or what's the setup like

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,025 ✭✭✭IrishGrimReaper

You can walk in and they'll have bikes for sale and they also stock gear but the selection of gear isn't the best from what I can remember.

Pretty sure they list all their bikes on donedeal if there's one in particular you want to see.

It's mainly geared towards the "adventure" side of things.

Not so TBH, they have Knox Handroid gloves, sporty leathers and alot of super-sports bikes for sale at the moment. They do specialise in the Adventure sector but they cater for a very broad spectrum....

Its a lovely straight run down aswell and the lad I was dealing with is sound, I got a top box and they had no probs running out and fitting it for me properly (Thread Lock etc)

I think it was last May when I was there last. They are a Touratech agent so that had lots of that stuff as well as KTM adventure bikes. They also had a new Guzzi V85TT which looked good. I didn't notice much sporty stuff there on the day but it may have changed. They seem like a nice bunch of people. Living in Cork, they are a bit out of the way for me though !

That's one bit of advice has def served me well

All an indicator proves is that the bulb is working is what I was taught!!!

    I take it you're a Garda.
What would you think percentage of blame would be on both if say someone pulled out because of a misleading indicator and the end result was a collision?

A lot of things factor into it. It the example above, it sounds like the OP is in a 60/40 split in his favour.

I was reading that yesterday, what a thread.

My bike 2014 CBR250 is being stored outside under a cover - well secure but still in the elements none the less.

It's not being used at the minute, I'm not tackling that weather the first time I go out on a bike and VRT, IBT etc not done yet (booked but not done)

So I started it last night and let it run for about 10minutes, is this overkill or needless? Or not enough to do this once a week to preserve battery etc.

Lads I just had an insurance investigator say he'd never heard of lane filtering being legal.

Is it in the statutes or ROR somewhere I'm having trouble finding it.

I think it's a grey area. Neither legal or illegal. I don't think you will find it legislated for

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,025 ✭✭✭IrishGrimReaper

Tell the investigator it's not illegal which is an important distinction to make.

If acting like a clown while filtering such as speeding and cutting people off you can be done for careless/dangerous driving.

Is it an investigator for the car drivers Insurance?

P8 of this link is as about as definitive as you'll get in terms of official guidance:
    https://www.rsa.ie/Documents/Campaigns/Motorcycle%20Safety/This%20is%20your%20bike.pdf

The comment above is most true, you don't have to prove it's legal, they have to prove it's illegal.

No, for mine. I'm not even putting in a claim tbh.

Lads where’s the best place for gear? The inner lining of my pants is ripped to such an extend the armour is falling out of place on one side. The brand I currently have is akito, got it with my V-Strom so no idea what I paid for it.

Could you not just stitch it, or have it done? That's what I would do anyway - don't throw the baby or with the bathwater. :)

    Not your ornery onager

It’s a plastic type material, cannot be stitched

If the linings coming out. It's time for the gear to go.

Megabikes, cotters and bike world are all fairly close to each other now so you have a few options. But personally I try on in the shop and buy online unless the shop will price match.

Take a spin up to Crossans and get a spin and new gear for the price of one....I dont know where you are based but if its a option then do it. Also Phillip McCallan has some got stuff but another 30 mins past Newry....Make a day of it and do both. Its what I usually do and try and rope in a frew mates for a look see.....

If you know your sizes then sportsbikeshop online are very good. I had two recent dealing with FC moto and they were terrible. They might be keenly priced but they are pulling a fast one with the LIVE STOCK bollox. 3-4 days turned into a week and a half. And the support is terrible....never again.

    He's in Cork Wonda.
You know what there like there, he'll want Crossan's to come to Cork :pac:
Although I don't think he is from Cork originally (maybe)

Jaysus, you have motorcycleshop.ie so. Who needs crossans!

That’s Lee Motorcycles, they own they own the site, bloody expensive plus bike gear sizes are awkward. I’m an XL jacket and between 2/3xl on a bike pants. I’m not a fat lad but not muscular either, all 19 stone of me

Lee / motorcycleshop.ie are very reasonable in my experience and good service when I bought something that didn't fit.
Even though I'm in Dublin.. you know what they say about a well balanced Corkman, one chip on each shoulder :pac:
