Dublin Bay has gone very stormy again in the last 90 mins, ESE gusts to Force 10, its pretty much as bad as it was on Wednesday afternoon, except the wind direction is more disruptive and dangerous as the mountains are not providing shelter. Could be wind damage later if it veers fully East, but at least the risk of coastal flooding has reduced in recent weeks

Edit: Force 11 gusts at 10.10

Its coming down like a monsoon in cork.
    Surface flooding is very bad.
Tonight is a cert for tidal flooding perhaps the worst yet!
There won't be tidal flooding tonight in Cork, the wind will be westerly by tonight and the storm depression will nave moved NE reducing the risk of a tidal storm surge. I think the greatest risk of flooding in Cork city centre is now with E/SE gales and pressure at it's lowest but I've no idea what time high tide is in Cork?

Turning to wet snow here now west of Arklow.
Rain/wet snow mix just 2 miles inland meaning snow highly likely in west Wicklow kildare and hills.

Getting sleety rain here. Can see splodges of ice on the Velux. Wind has really picked up in the last hour and is quite gusty from the east.

Mother of God, theres some gusts in Waterford - With the extra rainfall leading to softer ground , I would say trees root systems may easily finished off today. Watch out for falling trees.

A lot of wet flakes still in the heavy rain here near Arklow. Must be white out on hills.
    Heavy hail storm now

Any idea when the worst of the rain will clear Galway? The models suggest 2-3 pm but they were issued nearly 12 hours ago.

Based on when it started it appears to be running well ahead of the models.

Sudden improvement in Cork City. The sky is much brighter and the wind seems to have died back quite a bit.

Thoroughly miserable here in Wexford, not as wild as the other day but the rain is icy and with gusts it's blowing almost horizontally at times.

Met one of my neighbours out for her morning walk-she was soaked, stopped the car to tell her she was crazy & got the answer "sure it has to be done".It really doesn't "have to be done" in this weather.

850ft on an exposed slope in D16. Changing from wet snow to rain and back again. Very windy. Generally a very poxy day. No way near as windy as 4-5pm on wednesday though. I genuinely thought my windows were going to blow in then and was scared. Pretty damn miserable now though

Very strong winds on and off for Limerick city.

Wind has really picked up here in Cavan. Cold, soak you to the very core, kind of rain. Strong gusts. Lots of lakes and rivers up here already burst the banks. Sending it all rushing down the Shannon. Sorry Limerick. :(

I was talking to a guy from England who lives in the Thames Valley yesterday, he's under threat of evacuation and he said there's an apocalyptic mood. A feeling that it's almost something biblical or medieval, that it's that bad, the slow rising of the rivers...jaysus

Looks crazy over there alright. Say what you want about the dailymail, but they're great for pictures. Had a couple of before/after pictures which show the extent of it, the first one in particular
