Waterford City Council say that due to the current adverse weather and strong south easterly winds today, there is a risk of flooding in the City around the high tide time at 6.00pm this evening. There is a significant tidal surge predicted to coincide with the high tide which may cause further flooding on the Quays, in Millers Marsh Car Park and in Poleberry. Motorists are advised to avoid and not to park in these locations this evening.Waterford City Council will be distributing sand bags in the affected areas during the day and will have crews on call to close any flooded roads and divert traffic. The City Council will also close Poleberry, Bath Street and Poleberry Link Road to traffic from 2.00pm this afternoon in order to install temporary flood protection measures in these areas and these closures will remain in effect until later tonight.Motorists are strongly advised not to drive through flooded roads as they may damage their vehicles and force flood water further into people's homes and businesses. Waterford City Council can be contacted at any time on 051 309900 or 051 875555
