All 104 accommodated on EI138 (A330-200 w/267 seats) on Saturday night and all 128 on same flight (A330-300 w/307 seats)on Sunday. Didn't hear how many on Monday night. So, not Boston to Shannon service Saturday, Sunday or Monday.

Clearly low load on 138 all three days.

Titan 767 did 135 on Sunday and Titan 757 did 135 on Monday. Air Contractors B757 (EI-LBT) did the 135 on Tuesday.

The plane that went tech in Boston (EI-LBS) is back in service having completed EI-134 on Tuesday night and EI-135 today.

    Back to normal now.

Some summer routes began again quite early, probably also helped by the return of EDI.

British Airways flight BA56 from Johannesburg to London Heathrow diverted to Shannon this morning. Bad weather?

This is the second A380 that diverted to Shannon this month.

G-XLED diverted this morning. The fourth BA A380 to visit Shannon (two on diversions)

    G-XLEA - 30/07/13 on familiarisation visit.
G-XLEC - 19/06/14 diverted as crew were out of hours after diverting to Toronto earlier with tech issue
G-XLEB - 11/03/16 on weather diversion from LHR

Hopefully it won't be long before we see G-XLEE :-)

Superjumbo diverts to Shannon over UK storm (Clare Herald)

The most surprising aspect is the fact that the aircraft circled a number of times over south-east London and then opted to fly to Shannon for its diversion.

Standard holding pattern for traffic coming from that direction.

Any reason for the large drop in ORD in 2015? It went from 30,575 pax in 2014 to 26,936 in 2015.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,776 ✭✭✭Jhcx

Higher prices by United. Plus delta are really starting to move in on United upping customer service. That's what was seen behind the counter whether that's the actual reason or not I don't know.

Anyone know if work has started on immigration and baggage Hall?

    Two diversions to Shannon today.

Ryanair flight FR665 from Birmingham to Dublin
Ryanair flight FR1026 from Budapest to Dublin

Looking like United dropping a few flights to EWR in November, wasn't it daily last November?

    UA EWR-SNN NOV 0.9>0.8

You're correct. Appears its 6 weekly now from NOV-MAR, as opposed to just DEC-MAR this year.

Microchip concept wins day at Young Innovators event in Shannon (Limerick Leader)

St Patrick's Comprehensive, Shannon triumphs at second innovation contest

Students from across Ireland let their imaginations run wild at Shannon Airport this week as part of the second Young Innovators competition.

Everything from microchips inserted at birth to predict medical illnesses to self-drive cars with workstations were posited as possible aspects of life in this country in half a century’s time.

The brainchild of Corbally man John Hartnett of the Irish Technology Leadership Group, the event was designed to help in the development of key skills needed to meet the requirements of a competitive economy.

Some 700 students touched down at the airport this week for the contest.

They were set the task of imaging the world 50 years from now and coming up with new business ideas for then across six categories - how we live, work, play, shop, learn and travel.

The top honours were claimed by St Patrick’s Comprehensive School in Shannon, whose team will now head to the Silicon Valley to learn from some of the best technology minds on the planet.

The Young Innovators event – backed by LIT – saw the students mentored by representatives from some of the world’s leading companies including Dell, Intel, Analog, Johnson and Johnson, Cook Medical, Zagg and Logitech ahead of submitting their project.

As a result of the aircraft operating ORK-BHX being diverted to SNN, there was no aircraft in BHX to operate the service.

2 more diversions to add to the list.

    FR908 STN-ORK (B738)
    EI724 LHR-ORK (A320)

The late "W" pattern is operated by one cork based aircraft.

    ORK - BHX
    BHX - SNN
    SNN - BHX
    BHX - ORK

the aircraft operating this duty from BRS had earlier diverted from overhead ORK.

Giant Nordic Aviation to buy Shannon aircraft firm Aldus (Independent)

Shannon-based aircraft leasing firm Aldus Aviation is being acquired by Denmark's Nordic Aviation Capital in a move that is likely to mean a payday for the Irish firm's management team.

It has notified the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission that it intends to acquire Aldus, which has a fleet of about 30 small jets that are manufactured by Brazilian maker Embraer.

Aldus Aviation focuses on the ownership and leasing of the Embraer E-jet family of aircraft that seat between 70 and 120 people.
