GW 21 Matchday Thread

After all the talk of WCs, do we dont we, ups and downs, injuries, etc etc this week, it seems everyone has forgot to do the GW Thread.

So after much thought, I have finally settled on my single transfer, and gone with this, just hope West Ham and Cardiff end in a draw going by my GKR and DEF.

No access to laptop after tonight till tomorrow evening so no more changes for me, with a GW first this season of 5 midfeilders.

    Jääskeläinen

    Turner--Coleman--Terry

    Yaya Touré--Lallana-Hazard--Sterling--Cabaye

    Suárez(c)----Lukaku(vc)

    Subs

    Krul

    Negredo
    Gabbidon
    Davies

I remember a time when the Gameweek threads were started on the actual Matchday!

Getting earlier every week alright. I'm hoping for some of this from my secret weapon (if he plays!):

I've invested money in my defence with this wildcard. New team looks like this for the week.

    Marshall (Hvs WHU)
    Coleman (Hvs NOR)----Azpilicueta (Avs HUL)
    Sagna (Avs AVL)
Januzaj (Hvs SWA)--Hazard (Avs HUL)----Ozil (Avs AVL)---Eriksen (Hvs CRY)
    Suarez(C) (Avs STK)---Adebayor (Hvs CRY)---Giroud (Avs AVL)

Subs-- Silva (Avs NEW) Kolarov (Avs NEW) Chester (H vs Chelsea) Mannone (Avs Fulham)

The plan all along was to save the wildcard till the end to get in Aguero but I've decided to shelve that plan and just roll with it. As good squad depth as I've ever had playing this but perhaps the strikers are a small bit weak. I feel Januzaj will do something this week so Silva misses out, I think United will turn it around vs Swansea and a lot of it will depend on Januzaj..

Are you a United supporter? Leaving David Silva, one of the best midfielders in the league, out for a teenager who plays sporadically is beyond madness.

I read earlier on FFS that Newcastle are missing something like 3 defenders as well.

With a lot of people taking 4 or 8 point hits to fix their team this week I would be very surprised if I don't move up the rankings this GW. Whether it turns out to have been the right move to use my WC now will be another question.

. Watch Negredo running riot then and Ade kept quiet.

No Liverpool!! Haha! Might put Silva back in.

    Also what would you reccomend;
    Sterling and Faye (Hull)
    or
    Januzaj and Chester (Hull)

Vincent Tan has revolutionised football. David Marshall has now scored a hattrick after 30 minutes! Unreal!

    My team for this week:

    Mannone
    Coleman Mertesacker Terry
    Mutch Cabaye Ozil Hazard Silva
    Suarez (c) Lukaku

    Harper, Ben Turner, Ward, Rooney.

If Mutch or Cabaye misses out, I'm happy enough to play Turner home to West Ham. I expect Cabaye to make it from the articles I've read but I don't think Mutch will. It's a pity because he could have been a real differential this week. I fancy him to sneak something if he did play.

The other hope is that Ward isn't needed off the bench. I don't think Spurs will have a walk in the park vs Palace but I also can't see anything other than a 2 pointer.

I go into the week at 2559 and with green arrows since GW9. I can only see that run ending because, from reviewing my own leagues, it appears the majority of people have played their wildcards.

So this is the game week with all the reverse fixtures from GW1 (bar Chelsea's double)

Will we see similarly high scores??

Lads I never used my first wildcard yet, only played my January one.

Will it still be available to me next month?

cn you use it after the games on the 28-29th???

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 981 ✭✭✭Decoda

When can I play a wildcard?
You can play 2 wildcards a season. One wildcard can be played at any time. The January Wildcard can only be used after Gameweek 20 starts (1 Jan 11:30) until Gameweek 23 ends (1 Feb 11:30).

The above from the help section of Fantasy Football

    Regards

    Team.

    Mignolet
    Burner - Mertesacker - Baines
    Silva - Yaya - Hazard - Ozil
    Adebayor - Suarez - Rodriguez

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,274 ✭✭✭✭FHFC

    Mannone,
    Coleman, Sagna, Merts.
    Silva, Hazard, Eriksen, Huddlestone.
    Adebayor, Suarez (c), Lukaku.

Happy enough going into the Gameweek, only slight worry is lack of Aresnal attackers (after holding off on getting Ozil) as Villa have been dodgy at home to the big sides, but my gut says that's gonna be low scoring. A clean sheet for Arsenal there obviously makes my day!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,969 ✭✭✭✭alchemist33

No need to worry about Jelavic taking Lukakus place -- he's off to Hull!

Could be a sneaky differential if he gets some form.

No Chelsea mid or Man City attacker. I'd be concerned about midfield -- Gerrard only just back, Ozil only back, can't rely on Jan to start or Lennon to get points.

    Szczesny
    Mert, Coleman, Zab
    Yaya, Hazard, Ozil, Henderson
    Suarez, Ade, Welbeck

Trying not to change the captain from Ade to Suarez, could change my mind before 11:30 though!

I should be in the middle of an 8 mile easy run. Instead I'm stuck indoors trying to decide whether to move it of Suarez and onto Adebayor.

My brain says keep it of Suarez - it's what everyone in your league will do and you have plenty of VERY strong differentials in Adebayor, Rodruigez, Silva and Baines.

My gut keeps telling me risk Adebayor.

Opinions? Honestly, I'm not sure about Suarez this gameweek.

Do we think Ravel will play? Or would a -4 to Januzaj actually be worth it?

What's swaying me is the WBA game earlier in the season. Liverpool had a poor rcord away to them, their home defence was decent, I captained somebody else. He scored a hat trick. Also Stoke missing Begovic, Huth and possibly someone else, I can't recall. Their keeper will be making his PL debut as far as I know.

So what I'm saying is, Adebayor all the way.......only joking...

The league is only open to the 80 who are qualified for the league structure. Would be too confusing to include standbys in it.

    Davis
    Coleman - Koscielny - Santon
    Oscar - Özil - Yaya - Eriksen
    Suarez(c) - Negredo - Lukaku

Bench: Januzaj | Gabbidon | Chester | Gazzaniga

Santon is flagged and I'm not crazy about the idea of either Gaby or Chester coming in. Sometimes I wish you could play 2 at the back :(

hmmmm need to bench 2 from Turner (home to West Ham), Ravel (away to Cardiff), Fer (away to Everton)

    Thoughts?

Sylvester Stallone predicted Everton would win 17-0 today, good news for lukaku owners

    My wildcarded team:

    Marshall,
    Coleman, Sagna, Merts.
    Yaya, Hazard, Ozil, Lallana.
    Adebayor, Suarez (c), Lukaku.

With a lot of people taking -4 or -8 point hits to field weaker teams than above, I'm definitely expecting to see green arrows this week. Will especially be looking at my new recruits in bold.

Only people I'm wary of are the likes of Negredo, Silva and Eriksen, but I' be a lot more scared of not having Yaya and Adebayor! Time for Lukaku to perform too...

Definitely Burner. I need to play one of Ravel or Danny G or take a hit.

A quick twitter search of Ravel has said Fulham are in again for him and Diame so have my doubts. With Everton's CBs not playing or just back Fer could get some action in the box at corners perhaps?

Edit: Misread. Thought you needed 2 starters.

Have Turner in now alright, just dislike starting with 4 defenders as its pretty much definite that they wont all keep cleanies and there's that chance one of yer mids will get points

Other defenders that I'd briefly consider benching are Sagna and Terry, purely on the back of away fixtures but I know that would be madness so in they stay

    Side for today is:

    K. Davis

    Rodriguez--Adebayor--Suarez

    Subs: Mannone, Colback, Williamson, Chester

I'm starting Chester ahead of Santon. I think Hull are a lot more solid in defence than Newcastle and the Magpies are up against City, the best attack in the league.
