It's really looking like WWE will bring PPVs back to...well, PPV. Culling new material and the best of the back library already available, they'll need to find money somehow.

Hyping things then dropping them after they've cost you a lot of money is what the WWE does, Please refer XFL, Linda lolictics career, WWF New York for examples.

Just watching Wrestlemania 25 again. Forgot how great Ricky Steamboat was in this, such a shock especially when you see Snuka (Kill kill murder murder) waddle around the rind terribly and Piper getting caught in the ropes and Steamboat is hopping off the top rope and skinning the cat, its crazy I wouldnt be able to do that and Im about 40 years younger than him.

I watched it, was pretty good. It was like an extended version of the DVD but with some new talking heads and different footage. It seems to be part of a series so it didn't go too far into the wars, just the first few months. Ended around where Medusa dropped the belt in the bin on Nitro.

Yeah, I haven't a clue how on earth they expect any sort of subscriptions without the PPV. If they can't hit their targets with Mania and the rest on the network, then its dead surely.

31st July is the day we will get the lastest number of subscribers. The last number we got was after Wrestlemania 667,000. There's people within the company expecting a drop!

It wouldn't surprise me. Was considering dropping it myself. Apart from the PPV each month, there's nothing I haven't seen or want to see that badly on it.

how is a drop even possible with everyone locked in.

Perhaps the initial number included the week's free trial. I'd be very worried about the re-subscribing rate as Post-SummerSlam to Dec 31st was ABYSMAL last year.

If you pay with paypal you can get out of being locked in. If you use a disposable credit card you can get out of it as well.

Yeah. I'm using my O2 pre-pay card. If I wanted out, I can easily just make sure there's not the few quid it needs and that would be the end of it.

+1 on what the lads said about said about pre-paid cards and Paypal.

Also Wrestling fans tend to come from a lower socio-economic background so you would a have great attrition in terms of maxed out Credit Cards and such. You aren't dealing with what we would call in Ireland ABC1s here.

I've been using the free trial the last week and I think the Network is not the best.

I was a big ECW fan back in the day and the replaced entrance music just ruins it. The original music had a lot to do with the attitude of ECW. Nothing like hearing a big "RE.....SPECT...WALK!" during RVD's entrace for example. Now it's really really badly dubbed over music. I know it's all down to rights. But imagine if WWE had to replace Austin's glass breaking iconic music. It just wouldnt feel the same.

Censoring is weird too. In a promo Van Damme says his line "whole fucking show" with no censor. But later on, on the same show, another wrestler goes "you mother *BEEP*..er" in the ring. It's the same word! :pac: Context is different. But the same word. Why let one go but not the other?

Overall I think the network sucks. It's good if you like their current product as you can watch upcoming PPV's. But there is only so much wrestling you can watch.

With Netflix you can watch a movie, tv show, documentary, stand up etc. What ever you are in the mood for. But when you take the Netflix model and apply it to wrestling it isn't quite the same.

I've seen this happen in other shows as well. For whatever reason (maybe context, one being just about sex, the other being about something more), the short word is generally acceptable at one level, and the other is seen as being on a different level. I also think that the longer word is a single word most of the time; it's rarely written, for example, in two separate words....

Last week was a taster/preview, series doesn't debut a-proper 'til August and won't go on-demand 'til then either.

Yeah, it's weird that the massive vault (old ECW, WCW etc) is aimed at hardcore fans, but it's hardcore fans who'd know what songs are used, and it's a huge difference hearing some awful generic rock song in place of RVD's incredible RE...SPECT!....WALK! As you said, it's a money thing, WWE are cutting costs wherever they can. So do enough to get you to buy it at the cheapest cost to them.

I checked out the WWE network at the start and currently having a go now. Unwilling to pay for it until the day it's 'legal' (no proxies) in Ireland. It's so weird having such a large library of wrestling available. Too much really, it's not indexed or presented very well IMO.

With 5 hours of first run main tv (RAW and SD...both of which AREN'T on the network in any kind of timely fashion) there's not a huge market for access to their vault (besides hardcores, which is a few hundred thousand)
