Bernard fell hard on his wrist late in the Clone game. The physio came on and looked at it. We had used up all our subs by then, so its hard to tell if he was left on because we had no subs left, or the injury didn't seem that bad at the time. So hopefully, it was just a mildly sprained wrist and nothing more.

Exactly. Kev Mc is at his most effective when there are other forwards on too, who are performing to a good standard also. Their markers can't leave them alone, so Kev Mc gets time and space to do what he does best...get the head down and drive on at defenses like a battering ram. But when Kev Mc has to do it all by himself, other teams can see that and they crowd him out very quickly. That then limits his over all effectiveness. It's hard to see him working like a trojan to do it all himself (when O'Gara and BB aren't around) and getting so little support from the other full forwards.

Terribly sad news that Dave Billings passed away suddenly last night.

Never met him personally but a true blue and helped many a good player through the ranks over the years.

Have no affiliation with Dublin GAA whatsoever, but knew Dave through my time at UCD. Got me heavily involved with various football teams and really looked after everyone involved in the games within the college. Bumped into him a few times since in Croker, and even once when passing through campus a few weeks ago, and he'd always stop for a chat.

Just went onto Tickets.ie there looking to get two tickets for the games on Sunday but they're saying online purchasing is no longer available. The game wouldn't be sold out would it?

Not a chance, might be they were selling lr levels first and that sold out, but even then I'd be surprised

Doubt it its a sell out now. It might be by throw in tomorrow, when you factor in the walk up crowd. But it would hardly sell out in advance.
Tickets.ie have a cut off period that you can't buy tickets online after. (I presume its so that they can figure out how many tickets they have left over to sell at the gate.) I thought it was 24 hrs before the event, but the cut off may be the day before. So if you go online past midnight on Friday night, you are technically into the day before the game, so online sales have been cut off.

It will never be a sell out. There will be a decent crowd there, maybe even close to 20K. You will have no bother going down without a ticket though, should be a decent day out.

Big disappointment for the U21's this evening can't say it wasn't coming based on their ability to play for only half a game up to now - but congrats to Tipp it was well deserved on their 2nd half performance.

Got tickets today in Super Valu in Raheny, they told me the new stand is sold out but I got two for the old stand. Definitely looks like there will be a good crowd for the games anyway.

Ger needs to teach Dublin how to close out games. Three times this year we've racked up a great lead against great teams (Tipp, Kilkenny and Cork today) and three times we've ended up fading in the second half. Twice we got away with it, but not today - gutted. Mark Schutte - take your points.

Yeah very disappointed to see that one leak away. I wouldn't be a close follower of the hurlers but it does strike me that the quality of some of the hurling from Dublin this year is a good step above anything we've seen recently ? ... I'm particularly impressed with their stick work - Peter Kelly has been as good a full back there is.

Peter Kelly has been one of the stars of the league for me. His composure under pressure is exactly what Dublin need and even today he was making vital catches and interceptions - long may his form continue. The overall standard is still high, I heard Tipp and Waterford lads around me today commenting on how Dublin are right up there, a considerable challenge and that makes me smile

This year was a really good chance to win the league. We beat Tipp at home, Kilkenny away, narrowly lost to Clare away and beat Galway at home. Cork trounced us, which just makes letting today slip away that much more painful. I'm delighted with where Dublin Hurling has got to the last few years, to get those results and performances is fantastic. But still, we're not looking to be second or third or fourth best - we want to be the very best. I want to see Dublin win the league, the Leinster and the All Ireland and those lads on the pitch want it too. And to do that you need to bring the hunger for the full 70 and close out the games; take the points.

Just back from Nolan Park, spent the entire journey trying to figure out how we let that one slip but I'm still at a loss to explain it. How many times this year have we built big leads and let teams back into it? You'd think we would have learned. I'm thinking maybe our lack of options off the bench could cost us this season.

Yeah absolutely a step up on what we've seen before. The likes of McMorrow and Schutte are very tidy hurlers in this regard. We carry far more threat up front now too which is hugely encouraging.

All in all a horrible way to lose but i wouldn't throw my toys out of the pram. Cunningham couldn't have made a better start as far as i'm concerned.

Cork upped the intensity near the close of the game. They were able to this because they literally walked around the place for the first 20 minutes. Were they purposely conserving energy? I don't know but all the while we lashed into them expending ours.

Simple matter of them using the energy wisely. The Dublin footballers to it to every team in Leinster - start slow, allow the other team kill themselves, then take the game away from them (if needs be of course) towards the end.

Ah no... Lads gave everything today. A couple of poor wides as they got tired shouldn't disguise that.

I agree but there's also an element of the footballers being able to bring on 4 or 5 lads who are just as good as those on the field whereas the hurlers don't really have that option. If we tire ourselves out going hell for leather in the first half we don't have the option of freshening things up late on.

On another note I think Keaney should be back in the half forwards and Rushe back to CB. Liam played really well today but I think we needed a player like him at the back today in the final ten minutes.

I was out in Skerries today. Dublin were lucky to get the draw IMO, but it wasn't bad fare for a friendly.

The scorers for Dublin were:
Phillip Ryan 1-2 (Came on in the second half)
Harry Dawson 0-5 (3 frees) (Umpire gave him 2 points that were very clearly wide though)
Alan Brogan 0-4 (was in and out of the game, but very effective when on form)
Paddy Andrews 0-3 (some shocking kicking from him at times but still came away with 3 points)
Emmet Ó Conghaile 0-1
Shane Carthy 0-1

Galway:
Shane Walsh 1-2 (1 from a 45) Classy footballer. His goal was the score of the game.

Assume the ticket office is open this week? Might try to renew the Parnell Pass while I'm up there. Can't remember how I've done it in previous years but don't think I've ever received anything from them asking me to renew.

Yeah its open til 7 tonight AFAIK. Can't remember myself ever getting a whistler from DCB either .. I used to renew the PP on the old website, but I'm guessing its under the revamped (Hill16 site) now

Agree 100%, the score that stood out for me yesterday was Rushe's point towards the end of the 1st half. It all started with Ryan O'Dwyer chasing back 40 yards to dispossess the Cork runner, a diagonal ball by McMorrow into the corner from O'Dwyers flick and then the ground ball into Rushe from Dotsy... it sorta encapsulated a lot of what I think Ger Cunningham has brought to the Dublin game.

They don't send out reminder emails for renewals. The only email PP holders get, is a confirmation of purchase receipt after you purchase the PP itself. I think that email comes from the third party company that the DCB use to process online transactions. So it could be that the data is secured & the DCB doesn't even has access to subscribers email addresses to send out renewal notices. It's up to us to keep an eye on their website, Twitter announcements etc etc. Very progressive ! :rolleyes:

LOL.. Remember the days there were surplus PP's in August ... they were harder to shift than a constipated elephant :rolleyes:

I didn't renew in 2013 and got one after the semi win. Just didn't have the cash in May and then forgot about it. Had resigned myself to watching on telly.

Still a couple of my friends' wives who are none the wiser as to how we got tickets. Not sure they'd have been impressed with the close to €200 paid for pass and ticket
