What blue dude, the one with the wig, who dresses up as a Smurf?

Never met him personally, but he looks great in pix. Think he had a couple of kids with him last weekend, also painted in blue. Gotta admire the effort.

Also to be seen in the Aviva in his green reincarnation

Parnell park pass arrived this morning having ordered on Monday morning. But of an outlay if looking at it as a means of securing a final ticket. But I'll go to all the home games in both codes and pop down to some of the club games you also get into on it. Great value overall.

I don't think it was a hamstring injury though was it, I read nothing after the game to say it was, I heard it was a soft muscle injury.
The hamstring is a muscle and a soft tissue. A soft muscle injury could very well be the hamstring.

Just a bit of a warning in 2011 my sister collected our tickets for the final and there was a few scobes hanging around Dorset st and followed her,She had to jump on a bus to get away from them.
I don't know if that was the case in 2013 as my aul fella collected them.

I completely agree. In terms of the kick about at the start I thought they should have organised a couple of things like a penalty shootout or a crossbar challenge. Just something for a bit of a laugh.
You're absolutely right about meeting the players as well. Myself and the brother spent about 20 minutes trying to get to Bernard but every time someone left from the front it just seemed like more people would shove ahead of us so we eventually gave up. Should have been organised a bit better.
As you say though it was nice to be back in Parnell (bring our league games back please!) on a lovely evening and to get to see the lads.

Is this not just a thing for kids? Do adults really go along to this without kids?

What's wrong with a grown up wanting to get a picture with one of the lads, or tell them (and Jim Gavin) well done on Saturday & good luck in the final?

But sure who brings the kids? Just because it is a younger crowd down there doesn't mean they shouldn't organise it a bit better.

It is precisely because it is a younger crowd, that is should be organized better imo. A big gang of excited kids is not going to queue up in an orderly fashion, unless a grown up tells them to and supervises it. The thing that worried me a few times, were the cheeky pups who climbed up on the wall, to try and jump to the top of the melee and not have to wait their turn. That would be fine, if it was an ordinary wall, but it's not, the wall around the pitch has those odd pointy metal bits on top of the cement. I wouldn't want to be falling on top of those from a height.

Maybe my inner aul wan is making too big deal of all this, but considering how health and safety concerns are very much to the fore front these days, I'm surprised that hasn't occurred to anyone at Parnell Park.

I see Lee Keegan has admitted trying to wind up Connolly. At least he's honest,

Well whether Keegan admitted it or not, it's still deeply disappointing that Diarmuid reacted to the provocation. I really thought that he had a new found maturity now, that resulted in him not reacting to that kind of crap any more. The really disappointing thing is that he'll have an even bigger target on his back next year. Heck, he'll have one on Sunday week & won't the Kerry boys know it? That shower are no choirboys either, despite their whiter than white media image.

I try to toe the Dubs party line on this....he was provoked, refs should protect the star players better etc etc. But there are plenty of other star players.....Colm Cooper, Sean Cavanangh, our own Bernard....who come in for plenty of rough stuff and provocation. They respond on the score board, not by doing stupid stuff to get sent off. I REALLY don't want to be going thru all this drama again, a year from now ! :(

That's 100% in fairness Keegan did something nearly every player on the pitch did that day.

I read the article he said he'd just been knocked over himself before hand.

What he did was not a big deal overall .Connelly reacting was the issue.

Gooch and Brogan take a huge amount of abuse.

I've sympathy with players who react to it. Like Murphy sometimes, I look at the attention he gets and often wonder how he puts up with it. I'd excuse his reactions sometimes.

Gooch gets as much abuse as any top player, however he's protected an awful lot more than most players.

He's this lad who's adept at falling over in the HF line.

Not sure I agree with that. Point in case being him nearly having his head taken off from the disgusting shoulder to the head against Tyrone. All the ref did was book the Tyrone player following consultation with his umpires!

Gooch gets plenty of special attention but in fairness to him gets up and gets on with it more often than not.

Jaysus I'll be keeping the head down this week if last weekend is anything to go by. Was looking to enjoy some of the minor & U15 football championship but the talk was all about the tickets. We got our allocation confirmed at 60 (35|25) and now they have the unenviable task doling them out. It's irrelevant to me as myself and the young lad are sorted on the PP. There's so many cooks around the broth at the moment I'm letting all and sundry know that I've effall to do with it ...might save me a stoning.

In other news David Coldrick is all set for the final. He's been down honing his skills in the AvB games 3 times a week. The lads get on great with him and is good company over a steak dinner by all accounts :D ... much like the dinner you can take this with a grain of salt

'Dublin David' has a much better ring to it. Might catch on if Dublin win.

I'd like to think we can get a list of 5-6 refs that we can count on at any given time .. maybe have an end of year poll for a fans favourite .. think Dublin Joe is out of the reckoning this year

Anybody know if the Dorset street office is open it's usual 10-7 on the Tuesday before the game? Also if they take debit cards or just cash? Thanks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 472 ✭✭Matt Bianco

Ticket office is open but don't know if open until 7.00pm this evening (although it normally would be for corresponding fixtures). From memory you need to pay cash for Parnell Pass tickets but can pay with cards if collecting club tickets.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,775 ✭✭✭✭Slattsy

2 tickets sorted :D:D (paid over the odds but sure fook it)

When is the final by the way, not hearing too much noise these days? Is it still on? Did i get ripped off?

Ticket Office is open to 7pm tonight. You do need to pay in cash for the tickets.

Be aware though, there are a couple of people hanging about looking for tickets off those coming out (and going in). I'd make sure you have your affairs in order before walking out of the office. I wouldn't put it past some people to try something.

On another note they are much better organised today than they were for the Mayo replay. That was just a shambles whereas today was a breeze and a pleasant enough experience.

I've been practicing roundhouses all morning.
