Nothings happened him other than the fact he appears to be down the pecking order ... still a young lad and there's no huge rush on him

Ah I thought he was still injured and was wondering why he wasn't getting on in games.

He was there on Saturday, looked to be flying fit.

Yeah I'm surprised myself that he hasn't made any headway this year - particularly with the absence of both O'Gara & Mannion. He's a very good 2 footed direct footballer (at U21) .. I'd question whether he's up to the physical level when faced with the heavy hitting defences like Donegal, Mayo & Kerry. Judging by the physical improvement in Jack Mc it's certainly not beyond him

Is it true that Parnell passes went on sale this morning? A couple of people have said it to me but I can't find any info online.

Yep. I tried the site around 11:00 and it was still that Google permission thing. Then i tried again around 11:15 and it was up. Managed to grab one. 121 euro for the terrace pass. Was delighted.

Agreed. Jack Mc has definitely bulked up a bit, but it hasn't affected his blinding pace one little bit. CC could do worse than follow his strength and conditioning program. He gets knocked on his arse fierce easy.

Dammed if I know what to do about Rock. I'd be inclined to start him in the final. I know what he brings from play, is a bit of a mixed bag, but we've known that all along. Having a free taker is vital. But then, he's been so off there in the past couple of games...what the hell do you do?

However, we won 2 All Irelands and back to back league titles, when he wasn't taking them. So it's not as if going back to having them being taken by the old committee of BB, Dermo & Cluxton is a horrifically bad plan B to fall back on. But choosing to do so in just 2 weeks is a massive gamble.

You know you will have to pay €40 for the ticket on top of that. Does it cover 2016 NFL games also?

Yep. I've had it before. A lot of mates use it. So 161 all in.

And yeah it will cover the league games next year. Even the spring series ones in Croker as they are home games.

Yeah I haveta say that JG's loyalty with Rock has been nigh on unshakeable all year. You and I amongst a few others here have been yakking on since the early OBC games of what exactly he brings or more to the point what he doesn't bring. It's safe to assume 8 months on that rightly or wrongly Rock is very much part of Gavins plans - I would expect him to start the Final.

FWIW I thought he did quite well on Saturday, showed for a lot of ball and linked some good passages of play and in his own ungainly way got around the park chasing and hassling Mayo. He kicked a good free out of his hands during the stormy weather in 2nd half, but then inexplicably tried to kick one off the ground a good 55 yards out. I'd prefer him off the bench personally but not to the point I'd fight me corner on it....

I can't agree that Kevin mc should start.

His pace against tiring defenders is the main reason he is so effective when he comes on. I suspect that is why Dublin often leave it as late as possible to bring him on. It's harsh on him but his greatest strength is coming off the bench for last 20 minutes.

I'd start Alan brogan ahead of Rick and leave the other 5 forwards in situ.

Kev has shown that he can contribute from the start, he did so last season until the Donegal game (where all our forwards were shut out) and has done so previous seasons too. He came on against Mayo after 35 mins the first day and immediately ran through them, they couldn't have been that tired after a half of football. Hes a quality footballer who's unfairly being limited to the sub role.

If we had the quality of forwards to allow it I'd love Kev to stay as super sub but I don't think we do. If Alan can start from the off I'd have him in Rocks place but again how long can he last. Either way I don't think Rock should start.

Getting dropped to the bench now, would be very humiliating for the lad, considering how locked into that starting jersey he has been all year long. But it's an AI final. Gavin has to be utterly ruthless in his selections. Spending time on the bench seems to have invigorated MDMA. Could it do the same for Rock?

It's not that he does anything wrong when he is on the ball. It's just that he rarely does anything memorable either. When you compare the rate at which he goes looking to get involved, to make plays for others, to influence the game etc etc....and you compare it to what Kev Mc, Alan Brogan, O'Gara all regularly do...it's a problem. It's a problem you can live with, if 90% accuracy from dead ball situations is on the table. If that starts to drop, then you REALLY have a problem. Gavin has to be as taken aback by all of this, as we all are.

I was watching Rock on Saturday trying to chase a Mayo player and he could barely run. This was only around the 20 minute mark aswell.

I don't think dropping him would be a problem for Gavin. He dropped Kevin O'Brien for the 2013 final in favour of Philly.

Tbf to Rock had Philly found him when he should have and MDM in the second half he could have ended up with 2-2.

I think your point about him not doing anything memorable is a valid one though. We all spot the shortcomings but until he lashes a ball home or kicks a score under fierce pressure thats all we're gonna notice.

On MDM he gave two or three balls away when he came on. Seemed a direct result of lacking confidence. I hope his overall performance puts him straight.

Jaysus Kevin O'Brien is someone I completely forgot about, what's happened to him? Is he still around the squad?

Yeah, there was an announcement during the summer that mentioned Kevin O'Brien & Paul Mannion being back on the panel.

So... I'm now rewatching the game.

    Mayo are winning so far.

    How will it end?

You'll have to watch the whole thing to find out. Nail biting isn't it? :P

Mayo flaked in a replay? NEVER!

    Didn't see that coming.

In other news. ST email arrived. Now to find the cash.

You'd better hurry up. In previous years, they took the money on the 9th or the 10th.

    Dublin GAA Open Night

Open training session with meet and greet tomorrow night in Parnell Park. Should be a nice evening for it too if anyone fancies it.

Why do I have to be away?

David Goldrick has been chosen to referee the final. A Meath man I, kid you not. Awful decision to have him referring the game. They should have gotten someone from a different province.

Anyone know our record while he has been in charge of our games ?

I don't care where he is from once he isn't a talking point after the game. I think the ref should have a fairly handy game with the dubs and Kerry because it should be a good game of football

He lives in Clontarf, is married to a Dublin GAA Club Treasurer and works in Dublin.
Its farcical that he should referee any match involving Dublin.
