haven't watched this since the second episode of this season - is it actually worth the time to watch since?

    IMHO.. No.

    I wish I hadn't invested my time.

How many more weeks of this are there?

    Think it's 2.

Would agree with you, the whole Mark and Joe scenes did nothing for the story at all. I couldn't have cared less if Mark had killed Joe. Better off leaving the legacy story out of it and doing 6 good episodes
I disagree, I think having the Danny story from the first series showed the long lasting effect of bereavement and the different way it affects people. Even though the story is finished in the cops eyes, it showed what the family had to live with and how it eventually destroyed them. It was interesting that Beth, who you think would have struggled the most after watching the first two series, was more able to move on and get on with life than Mark. I thought the last scene and the scene with Mark playing the computer game with Danny was incredibly sad and moving.

The only legacy characters I have an issue with are the priest and the reporter. Especially the reporter, it looked like she would have a big part in the story, but she hasn't really been in it since episode one or two? Unless she makes a major discovery that helps break the case showing how important local papers are blah, blah, blah. But really that whole story was unnecessary.

I've really enjoyed this season, a massive improvement from season two. Yes, it is the usual Broadchurch fare of multiple suspects and red herrings, but as a procecedural cop show I still think it's one of the better ones.

in fairness 10 episodes of bosco would be better than season 2.

Broadchurch is not a procedural drama. There isn't a new case each week.

I was enjoying this series until mark did something so selfish. Wish him and that storyline with joe wasnt in this series

I've just read a Guardian review that suggests we're meant to start thinking that Joe Miller didn't actually kill Danny and Mark was somehow involved and they'd all repressed their memories of that night and then something Joe said now has jogged Mark's memory... What?

I didn't get that vibe at all? I thought Mark's state of mind was more down to the fact that he'd been fixated on finding Joe and, when he finally did, he realised that punishing Joe wouldn't help him get over Danny after all.

I'll actually be furious if they suddenly say Joe's not the murderer.

That's just daft, if they go down that route then they will have totally jumped the shark. I think it's more simple than that, Mark thought that finding Joe and dealing his own justice might help get closure over Danny. In reality, he wasn't able to harm Joe and he wasn't able to get any closure. He saw his life as being full of grief and without his family and just wasn't able to take it any more. I suppose he felt a certain amount of guilt too, if he had paid more attention, noticed that Joe was grooming Danny, noticed that something was the matter etc etc. Remember he was having an affair at the time, so that added to his guilt that he had let down his family. It was just all too much to deal with.

Are we finally narrowing down the suspects with one week to go? I think it's probably two or more of them in cahoots at this stage. Jim Atwood and Lucas the taxi driver - one films the other? Did Lucas's stepson play on the football team with those socks?

But it's like some characters did a total about-face in tonight's episode - Cath and Leo both seemed really guilty/hiding something before, but not tonight.

All the men and boys of Broadchurch appear to be scumbags (except perhaps the vicar). Are any of them decent?

I'm really enjoying this season. Like Season one it's all about the red herrings without making a gobshíte out of you like some shows.

I've honestly no idea but I'm going with the husband. Seems the least likely of the main suspects. :p God Dammit!

I think it was a bit of a cop out that Mark survived to be honest. I thought he had jumped from the cliffs and just imagined being in the boat with Danny and drifting away. Obviously Danny being there was imagined, but him just stepping out of the boat was a bit daft. It was so well shot and moving last week and then this week he's grand and out of hospital the same day.

Again, the vicar and Maggie were superfluous characters. I get that they want to keep some link with the first two series, but their characters serve no purpose.

I thought the bit with Cath turning Jim in was good this week, it showed a nicer side to her character. I honestly don't have a clue who the rapist is, I think Jim is too obvious at the moment. Maybe Ian? Unless they throw a total curve ball and it's the vicar :D:pac:

Read a couple of articles over the weekend where the director was quoted as being very emotional about the ending of this final ever episode. I'm guessing/hoping that the series goes out with a bang

The guy playing Mark is a great actor. Can do controlled genuine emotion very well and not in an over the top way.

Bleh.. bit of a damp squib of an ending!

Poor show hasn't had a solid finale since it's first year.

I'll miss Hardy and Miller, but not the poor writing!

    Maybe Clive's another red herring?

I'll wait til the end, but I hope Chris Chibnall has better luck with Dr Who

Another 40m til the end :P

Lucas is certainly covering up for someone, maybe his son?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,201 ✭✭✭languagenerd

Ohh I don't know how to feel about that! The acting was superb though, esp the scene between Mark and Beth.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,133 ✭✭✭Patty O Furniture

I don't know who had a scarier face in that room, Miller or Hardy after Leo's confessions!

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,943 ✭✭✭OldRio

Well that was poorly done. The pace of the last episode was all over the place.
The series had the feel of a poor soap opera..
7 hours I will not get back again.

Well I bet my aunts on who did it. I got one half right, but the other half I did not see.coming

I think they could have wrapped up in 6 episodes. The mass scene added nothing. Just bulking it out

  • Moderators, Arts Moderators Posts: 35,231 Mod ✭✭✭✭pickarooney

Waste of time that last episode. From the repeated, ridiculous 'wait, it was.. this guy! <cut away>' to the ludicrous reveal of this sadistic, cardboard character we never gave a toss about... just write the story you want to tell instead of trying to outwit everyone with these pointless plot twists.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,049 ✭✭✭Mike Litoris

Frustrating episode but I really enjoyed that season. Not a patch on the first but way better than 2 and most other crime dramas.

Finale was all over the place but I still enjoyed it. It could only be Leo given he was the only non main character that had any screen time, season 1 set that trend. Didn't see the twist though. Nice. The scene where Leo was showing Michael the porn and he was all dodgy about it makes sense now.

I just hope this isn't the end of Hardy and Miller. It didn't feel like much of a send off and felt like an opening to something new but then again Chibnall loves his red herrings. Dammit.

Any suggestions on similar shows? Seen The Fall, Happy Valley, The Missing, The Five amongst others.

I loved this series but let down by the ending.

I am currently binge watching Line of Duty and if you haven't seen it I highly recommend it
