There are trees down on Rochestown Road and Ballea road in Carrigaline apparently

Blowing a near constant F4, surprisingly little precipitation, vapour being blown around violently.

    Scanners are amazingly quite.

Southerly winds don't usually have same impact as westerlies here but still windy but nothing out of the ordinary.

Smash....there goes next door's outdoor christmas lights.

Belmullet 118 km/h gust was the highest so far I think.

It's bloody atrocious in cork city - shopping at the mo and it's really difficult getting in and out of the car without the door nearly blowing off!!

EICK has had flight diversions, Ryanair from Gdansk landed at Shannon. Ryanair from Liverpool in the holding pattern. Aer Lingus from Munich continuing approach.

    52kts at the airport.

Gale force here with some trees down - one which hit a jeep - luckily driver ok.

Was thinking about the Xmas decorations - good job - will remove the excess of light pollution that we have to put up with :-)

It's a rotten day in cork. You wouldn't put a dog out in it. The basketball net out the parents back garden decided it wanted a closer look at the ground. :D

Several "go arounds" at Dublin Airport in the last hour, 3 aircraft just diverted to Shannon & Belfast...

You can listen to Dublin ATC here...

Just drove into dublin city. Lots of signs blown down, and because of the rain loads of people have umbrellas. Never saw so many broken umbrellas thrown in bins or just left on the street. And people carrying inside out umbrellas
Do people have no cop on that an umbrella is pointless in this wind?

Should I skip a plan to hike the Sally Gap to Djouce Mountain in Wicklow tomorrow do you think?

Not long now before the front clears eastwards.

Seriously strange manoeuvre by a Ryanair jet there!

4 Ridge tiles blown off my shed. I climbed up on top to nail the next one down before it blew off too and I nearly blew off.

12Z GFS has a 940mb low to our northwest on Wednesday/Thursday.

Need to keep an eye on it in case it tracks closer to us.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,778 ✭✭✭✭ninebeanrows

R953r aborted its approach really early and went north,

    Another plane attempting approach now.

Looks like 953 is going to Shannon!

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,778 ✭✭✭✭ninebeanrows

    951F aborted landing too.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,134 ✭✭✭✭maquiladora

Tomorrow morning will be windy again for the west and northwest coasts, with storm force winds possible for a brief time. The powerful low will be well out at sea though.

Well, it just blew over our gate lamp which has stood there since 1978!!

It seems to have completely calmed down in Cork anyway so I assume the storm's moved on.

That's gas. I work in the airport so I know an unusual approach when I see one. I was on Donabate beach with the mutt and that made both of is look up :)
It was very low over us, I can't imagine any higher than 2500ft.
