I got diesel as I like diesel, however I was dissappointed as the 535d does not sound dieselly. It sounds refined.

    Ah stop. Please.

    Oh ok.
    If you say so.
    Specifically.

When the girlfriend is driving the 530d she gets 42mpg so we're close to doing 10mpg more than the equivalent 530i.
I don't know much of lpg and where I live it's almost non-existent at fuel stations so it's not feasable for me.
Also there is the outlay of paying for that system rather than just buying diesel across the year.

I think it would work out damn close with all taken into account.

And I like the torque :)

But I do see your point Deb, I may look into it in the future :)

LPG needs a wider takeup before it is viable for most people. I'm from kildare living in dublin, so I see three stations in my vicinity (Kilcullen, Rathcoole, lucan).
However go down the country and there are none.

No need for the smartarse reply.

To say that you were disappointed with a 535d because its refined is not logical, nor does it make sense.

I'm from and live currently in Laois and it'd be like hens teeth finding LPG.

It does make sense to be disappointed when I was expecting a tractory diesel and it was not that.

My initial comment wasn't smart, I genuinely want you to stop posting that kinda drivel.

My point was you buy a modern 6 pot diesel BMW and are subsequently disappointed by its lack of a tractor soundtrack? That's what makes no sense.

Come off it, it is a smart arse comment as well you know. But lets leave it at that. You've made your view quite clear.

My point was I buy a diesel engined car and don't have the diesel rumble that I would expect, modern 6pot or other. Hence why I am selling.

I'm perfectly calm, I just take issue with being told that I should not like unrefined diesels.
Especially in the "please stop" way that I was.

Oh I know cleveland it was only used for its comedy value :)

I have no problem with anyones opinions no matter how mad they are :)

Yeah I assumed that, just wanted to clarify - I'm perfectly calm, sitting here drinking a cup of peppermint tea and looking busy in a deserted office.

I appreciate I am a bit odd opinion wise but I don't take kindly to being shushed or told I am wrong (when opinions are opinions not facts and cannot thus be right or wrong)

I actually agree with what you're saying. I like my diesels with a gruff engine note.

Well it wasnt a smartarse comment, but if you want to spin it that way to make yourself feel better, work away.

Happy Christmas to all my motoring buddies, I'll say it now and get it out of the way before the drink takes over and I retire from here for the night :)

Wishing all of you the best for Christmas and next year :)

Merry chris mas :P to ye all :D ye lovely bunch of individuals

Oh deary it appears my decisions have ruffled a few feathers a few pages back!
So let me set it straight, I can't afford nor want a (proper) BMW, I find them as interesting as a piece of wet bread so why should i get one just to fit in and say oh it's terribly engaging and a thrilling drive etc etc and all that bollokology, I like things that are different, I guess to put it this way the first choices for me are going to be saab, and yes fancy mans vectra etc etc but so what? If that falls through I'll get a merc, if that falls through I'm considering an opel omega, just because it's another opel, and you don't see many of them. Obviously for those of you who know about my mileage I'm one of the few in this country who actually need a diesel, plus, I'm not going to have it as it is, I plan on making it a project, as you should hopefully see over the course of the time i own it, whatever it may be, If i could afford an m3, m5 or whatever you like to class as "exciting" Then I would, by all means look into getting something, but for now I'll just be one of the boring ol heads with their shmokey daysul plodding along at 10kph under each limit, with one headlight busted and my fogs on, because apparently that's the category I fit into :pac:

Just my two cents, not taking a stab at anyone now!

No but really why should i get something i don't even like? Like i was looking at a saab areo estate 2.3 petrol, I was ready to put a deposit and all on it but i can't get insured on it due to it's in the same insurance category as a fecking m5  Otherwise i was all over that!

2.3 petrel would equal an empty wallet for you man!
I'm all for people doing their own thing though, me and bmw only started with the 530 and although I love it I won't be staying around these things for good, plenty of other machines out there :)
