A short interview I take it..

In fact, did that band actually exist?
I always thought of them as made up by the NME/Melody Maker...

Menswear were seen as blatant bandwagon jumpers with the arrival of Britpop. Knowing who to hang around with (members of Blur, circa 'Parklife'), knowing where to hang out (The Good Mixer in Camden), having only a few songs to their name by the time of their first gig and being signed straight after that gig. The press knew they were absolute chancers! :D

Just watched that 'The Secret Science Of Pop' programme - a bit pointless to be honest.

It was disappointing to see BBC Four indulging your man like that.

There might have been an interesting show based on his theory of how chart songs cluster around the same sound until there is a 'gamechanger' every few years but he was too full of bluster.

Cause and Effect, Correlation does not imply causation etc ...

((Not entirely sure what those phrases mean but tis rare you get the chance to use them in this thread :P))

indeed, I threw it on again today. its funny how a show a week apart could have such a different vibe, I could let Temptation play on a loop. 8 months later you started seeing a shift with groups like Frankie GTH so groups like Heaven 17 and ABC were peaking

I have a suspicion they might have been concentrating more on the 1000th episode this week, those foreign charts were bizarre.

Fair dues to Kid Jensen for making up an Asian chart where none existed. He's like the Canadian Jimmy Magee

I'd like to see an Irish version of the UK Official Charts website - click on any date, and you get the entire Top 100.
