When watching the last 2 Seahawks seasons, I got the impression that there was something about QB Russell Wilson that might have affected the season's outcomes. Yes, I know it's a team sport, but...

    WILSON PASSING
    Season | Comp | Att | Pct | Yds | Ave | TD | Int
    2014 | 285 | 452 | 63.1 | 3,475 | 7.7 | 20 | 7
    2015 | 329 | 483 | 68.1 | 4,024 | 8.3 | 34 | 8

    WILSON RUSHING
    Season | Att | Yds | Ave | TD | Fum
    2014 | 118 | 849 | 7.2 | 6 | 11
    2015 | 103 | 553 | 5.4 | 1 | 7

I appears that Wilson's passing game greatly improved between 2014 and 2015, especially in TDs, but his rushing game declined in terms of TDs and average yards. Was this due to a particular kind of injury, or Pete Carroll's calls, or both, or what?

Great passing QBs are grand indeed, but methinks that a highly effective running QB, especially one that thinks on his feet during a broken-up play and can pass or rush, is probably the scariest player for the opposing team's defense.

When you are paying your qb the kind of money Wilson is on you don't really want them to be running the ball too much because of the chances of them getting injured etc. Wilson is probably the best scrambling qb in the league but he is a relatively small guy unlike cam who is built like a linebacker. Also in general teams didn't use the read option as much last year as defences have gotten better at reading it

Need to factor in the loss of Lynch followed by Rawls from the RB role and the heavier reliance on his passing last season.

I also think it will go more to his passing as it becomes Wilsons offence not that he's the man with the big bucks. Also you have receivers like Graham, Baldwin, (Kearse just resigned) making decent money and Lockett who had a huge rookie year.

Tyler Lockett 2015 Seahawk season receiving stats with 51 for 664 yards averaging 13.0 and 6 TDs with 0 fumbles. A grand start indeed.

Pro football draft board for the Seahawks - not usually one for these kind of things but good detail here.

Jarran Reed, DT, with a run-stop percentage of 13.4 for the winning Tide looks grand indeed.

I've seen Westerman mentioned elsewhere as well. Fix the offensive line and we're well set (assuming Rawls and Graham are fit) on offense.

Has a player ever won a Superbowl, moved to a different team, won a Superbowl, moved back to the first team and won the Superbowl again?

Could Browner be the first to do this?

Had to google it, but the only man with 3 consecutive is Ken Norton, two with Dallas, then one with San Fran

Yeah wasnt going to get that answer off the top.

    Good question though.

    Lets get Browner another ring!

Britt being tried at centre now. FFS can they just cut the crap, sign a lineman who is good in a particular position, and play said lineman in said position!!

Offensive line seems to be a blind spot with this team. Would be nice not to see Wilson scrambling every second snap.

Nice call, was a bit of a steal in the second round.

So apparently Alex Collins took up Irish dancing to help his footwork :pac:

Lockette forced to retire. Not really a surprise considering the severity of the injury.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,038 ✭✭✭✭Neil3030

Not entirely surprising but still awful news.

That's a shame, but to be expected. Hopefully he's fit enough to whatever else he wants apart from football.

Head Coach Pete Carroll's current contract with the Seahawks expires at the end of this coming 2016 season. He is age 65, but looks plenty fit. Although he has been a bit vague when asked if he was renewing, methinks he will sign and stay with the Seahawks.

Anyone know if the preseason is being televised? Not such a long wait if it is. Just ordered a jersey yesterday & looking forward to wearing it :)

There are 65 pre-season games available on Gamepass but I can't find what they are. Seahawks website says the four games are going to be on KCPQ. I in no way googled to discover that KCPQ, channel 13, is a Fox-affiliated television station licensed to Tacoma, Washington, United States that serves the Seattle-Tacoma television market.

The pre season first game against the Chiefs is a Sat game around half 9 our time.

The rest of them are at stupid O'clock Friday mornings so wont be seeing any of them.

7 more weeks by my calculation!

Also just looking at next years free agents, Seahawks currently would have 13 and only Hauschka and L.Willson the only ones who would really be regularly playing. So this seasons and 2017 should be pretty much the same team.

Biggest contracts in the next 12 months will be hopefully for Coach and our GM.

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,969 ✭✭✭✭alchemist33

I'd like to get Hauschka tied down alright. He's Mr Consistent

Michael Bennet is still looking for a new contract as well. Don't think he'll get it, just hope he doesn't get any ideas about holding out

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,977 ✭✭✭TheDoctor

Bennett has two years left as of now.

Seahawks policy is not to enter negotiations if a player has more than a year on his contract.

Himself and Kam will be the big calls next season.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,293 ✭✭✭coco0981

Ya and it's a good policy to have as well. If you break it for Bennett then others will expect the same. Having said that hes definitely playing on a contract that undervalues his production when you compare him to other D Line men

QB Russell Wilson was ranked #17 in the top 100 players by his NFL player peers for the 2016 season. Methinks he should have been rated higher for 4,024 passing yards, 34 touchdowns, and a 68.1 completion percentage for 2015.

On another scene, lookout Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition! The 2017 Sea Gals calendar may be as competitive with them as the players taking on NFL opposing teams this 2016 season. Then again at today's 14C I would be all covered up at CenturyLink Field to stay warm if similar temps hold 11 September against the Dolphins, especially when combined with the frequent Seattle rains. Burrrrrrrrrrrr!

Heard that coach Pete Carroll had been negotiating a contract extension earlier this year. Anyone know the outcome? Methinks he is the best NFL coach today, although my USC Trojan bias may be showing. Sorry!

Carroll under contract till 2019 and Schneider under contract till 2020.

Hopefully a good few years more to look forward to.
