    Fiachna sitting in :)

(Comment from Brendan Bendar along the lines of ‘where is Turnip Head tonight’ in 5...4...3...)

Fiachna's a brilliant musician and a nice guy. I've had the occasional pint with him. But Jesus, he's everywhere. He's like the antithesis of Joe Duffy.
I wish they would give a few others a chance.

Nothing exciting there. Good songs, but can be heard any day of the week on Irish FM radio.

Don’t forget ford, there are people across the world listening in who don’t live in Ireland (me included) :)

You’re highly unlikely to hear Something Happens and/or An Emotional Fish on UK radio - but it would be nice :)

First time hearing Fiachna, must say I like the selection and presentation.

I recall John saying recently that he had more TV filming to do, which is presumably why Fiachna is on this week.

I think Emma Langford has some talent and a lovely bright, clear voice.

John Martyn. Sunshine’s Better, a great track.

Had the pleasure of seeing John Martyn along with 150 others in a small pub here 15 years ago. It's up there with fighting in the GPO in 1916 and Thomond park when Munster beat the all blacks.

I've been listening to Fiachna all week and while the playlist is very good, IMHO it's running a distant second to John's over the course of a full week.

John is a hard act to follow for anyone.

That said, I'm enjoying Kate Bush.

    Hard to believe she's 62.

I worked with her uncle once upon a time, he was very respectful of her privacy but always spoke very highly of her.

I'm not that far behind you.

Didn't she become very reclusive for a while and only re-emerged in the past few years?

Fiachna noticeably plays more Irish artists, as well as sticking to anniversaries (BB King was born on this day).

She still is, a fiercely private lady apparently. Her mother hailed from just outside Dungarvan.

She is truly talented. I was kicking myself that I didn't get a chance to see her about 5 years when she did a series of concerts in London. An amazing musician.

I was heartbroken and I don't say that often!
    The live CD is great.
