Anyone thinking of going for a 4.0 million keeper? I know they'll never see gametime but it'd save a precious .5 that could be used elsewhere.

Boruc, Clyne, Rangel and Jonathan Williams on the bench.

    No, Just No  :pac:

For .5 extra you could have Mig in goal. United have a terrible start and are leaking goals in pre-season too so I'd save a million by bringing in Mert or Nastasic.

Puncheon doesn't seem to be favoured by Pochettino like Adkins liked him, a sub more often than not. Is sylla the reserve holding mid for Villa? Either way better options than him. De guzman is a good player and toyed with him myself last year but not a vast gatherer of points especially with Swansea strengthening.

Decent strikers but Bentekkers is a risk as Villa have shocking fixtures and you can't afford to spend 9 million when the rest of your team is so unbalanced.

I'm sorry to be blunt but hopefully it'll help you :)

I'm thinking of using Hart exclusively for the season and having a 4 mill backup.
He's the only keeper I'd do it with.
Otherwise it's two decent keepers that rotate well.

That's who I have as well.

For the last four years I've always played it safe with two cheaper keepers. This will be a big leap of faith.

Spent a bit of time tinkering with this.. :)

Is Mignolet Liverpools main keeper now? What happened to Reina?

Reina is undergoing a medical for napoli i believe.

    There is Jussi/Mignolet(5.5 each) + Boruc(4.5) for 10mill, which is .5 cheaper than Hart + 4mill.

Another option is Ruddy/Vorm(5 each) + Boruc for 9.5, saving 1 mill.

They are viable options - all with pros and cons.
If Hart gets injured you will have to get in two new keepers for either a 4 point hit or one trade each for two weeks.

Passed the medical according to bbc sport, as did Higuain.

I'm going with Hart and Boruc at the moment. I think that's probably the best option for now.

It would be nice to free up a bit of cash somewhere though. I'll have to re-think things.

My attempt at getting RVP and Bale into the same team.

Mignolet would be my keeper for the season or downgrade Berbatov to Kone/Wolfwinkle and get Boruc.
It's either a 3-4-3 or 4-3-3 formation, too much invested in front three to warrant dropping one.
I can't imagine ever playing turner so any 4mill defender will do.

Koren and Dikgakoi may get game time but would only be selected depending on opposition.

Chamberlain is your weak point. Can't imagine him getting too much game time. Look at other options. Otherwise your first XI looks good. Bench not so much. I believe a decent bench is important, but alot of teams i've seen posted have a pretty poor one, but anyway yeah the first XI looks good apart from Ox

What do you think about this?
Still 0,5m in bank to play with.

Extremely expensive defence. The rest of your team is pretty crap as a result. I wouldn't be confident with Fellaini and that Dikki chap in there and no one to back them up.

I could put Nolan in for Ox, decent start for the Hammers, could pick up some points.

Yeah agree team is poor way too much tied up in defense (highest points come from mids and forwards), look at players like Coutinho and Walcott in midfield and Negredo up front. Lukaku is risky we don't know if he'll be first choice

Yeah there's a few options Nolan, Hernandez, Johnson, that Italian guy that Sunderland signed as well, Arteta (takes penalties)

Baines to Coleman, Luiz to Terry and Zabaleta to Turner(Nor) saving you 4.5 mill to strengthen the rest of your team.

Lukaku to Berbatov will get you another .5.

You should be able to fix your midfield then.

    Lukaku to Negredo perhaps.

    Good thinking there guys.
Downgraded Lambert to Rodriguez already, was thinking about Walcott and (crazy I know) Gerrard. But Gerrard cost as much as Coutinho so Coutinho it is.
Seems like defence of most of the teams will be very similiar - cheapest players from best teams.

You were spot on regarding defence, but I will change it 20 times before get it right. Leave it for next week or so. Thx anyway.

Bit more of a balanced midfield I think, with a decent sub now as well...

    Feedback / Thoughts?

Was considering going with Coutinho / Pienaar over Nolan or Arteta. Went with Arteta because Arsenal seem to have a half decent first two weeks to start with. Went with Nolan because West Brom also have a decent starting week as well.

Happy enough with this team I think, took a few days!
See what happens and hit the wildcard in gw3 if needed.

Looks good, but I would personally swap Baines and Coleman.

I think Baines will stay on the team, I didn't want him at start though.
He still banging in free kicks?

Coleman should easily get as many points this year as Baines did last year. Only reason Coleman didn't do so good in terms of points is because he was classed as a midfielder. Those savings could be used to improve elsewhere. Worthy change in my opinion.

Lads if I could give ye one piece of advice. Be very careful where you are getting RMT advice from. I have to say, the internet is filling with all these "experts" on twitter and they haven't a f*cking clue what they are saying. I'm reading people on other sites recommending the most Godawful players and sticking to formations that are not right at all.

Stick with boards.ie. The only other site I trust is the scout website and I would even say that boards has a higher proportion of good players than any site.

    Thanks for that info dude!
Coleman may free up some cash, upgrade in mids.

I'm actually waiting for yourself and a few of the big hitters to row into this thread.

I suspect, like myself, most haven't started picking teams yet because there are just too many variables still to plan out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,685 ✭✭✭✭wonski

Most are testing the waters, some players future is not decided yet.
Interesting to see what people come up with.

Wonder if most will go with RVP or Bale? Having both is a no go at this moment due to their price I think.
Defence seems to be shaping into Coleman/Terry/Mertesacker trio.
But we all know everyone will get Baines instead of Coleman as soon as he scores.

Even with the FF Scout site, I agree that the articles written by the guys running the site are excellent but some of the 'main contributors' in the discussion threads are full of sh1t and so many people take their advice

Even on here the old 'caveat emptor' rule should apply.

Tbh it is a game, getting some advice and discussing player potential is good thing. But you still need to come up with your squad yourself. If one expects to get best team listed here or there - it is up to them. Top players should leave some of the info for themselves.
Maybe some of them post mad ideas for laugh, or to take advantage of the new players? Who knows...

So you're saying McShane for captain week 1 is a bad idea?

If anyone's taking advice, the top 50 managers on this page seem to know what their doing:
