It has been the most perfect day all day in Athlone. I don't understand how the apocalypse has managed to avoid us!

The rain is getting heavier and some close vicinity of lightening with a bang almost immediately.

Thunder going strong for the last 20 minutes in S.East Kerry.
    No rain currently.

Strike and thunder every 30 secs or so in limerick city. Heavy rain seems to have passed

Limerick City, north Limerick, south Clare including vicinity of Shannon Airport -- large hail, torrential downpour and possible funnel cloud possible now to 1800h, cells moving west northwest but redeveloping. Keep a watch to your east for any approaching funnel clouds. Not likely to produce damaging winds except on a "rope tornado" basis where strong winds are confined to areas of 50-100 metres extent. Large hail quite likely however. Somewhat less intense thunderstorms are likely to overspread north Clare and south Galway including Galway City.

Ryanair "FR701" is trying to get into Kerry. Shannon ATC have advised him that there has been multiple strikes in the area in the past few minutes.

Still pelting it down north side limerick. Thunder claps every 30 odd seconds

Any chance of this weather affecting Dublin

Massive thunderstorm cell rolling in from the Kenmare Bay here in South East Kerry now, multiple strikes and ominously dark, no rain just dry lightning and I'd say alot of it is cloud lightning.

Lashing down in Dublin City Centre now, very dark sky

Typical, right when it's time to go home.
