Did a bit of a cleanup on the vRS over the past few days,
Started with great intentions but only managed to get the front wing machined. the rest got a quick topup of 845

    Front wing got
10 minutes with a MF cutting pad on the das6 pro with Wolfs "The correction utility"

finished with 10-15 mins with a MF finishing pad and Wolfs "The Jeweller"

Followed by 2 coats of ArtDeshine Obsidian that i got a very small sample of to test.

I am liking the looks of this wax.

Basically wipe on extremely sparingly and wipe off. No need to wait for it to cure.

Got this stuff in Aldi the last time it was in, only got one at the time. It's used after the car has dried and the water marks are left. I use a mitt and spray this and it gets rid of the water marks and makes it all shiny. Anyway, it's almost gone, so what would ye suggest as a replacement. Aldi are very unpredictable with when they bring these things out again, so obviously I'll have to get something made by some other manufacturer.

I'm actually interested myself in the products others have mentioned, but seeing as your location is shown as Mayo, just to note that those products are about €2 each in Archway Stores in Castlebar.

Even if you get a better quick detailer, you might find the plethora of other bottles of stuff interesting.

Mazda6's do have great reflection when corrected but the MPS is just that little bit better :P

While ye're on about shiny 6s!

With the good weather today, set about giving both cars a much needed clean. Different products for each car for the fun of it.

First up the E90, started wiht Orchard Cotton Candy Snow foam then 2 bucket wash followed by AutoGlym Super Resin Polish & then a coat of AutoGlym Ultra Deep Shine.

    20140528_160226.jpg

Next up was the A6. Snow foamed with Auto Brite Super Snow Foam, then washed 2 bucket method. For the wax went with Bilt Hamber Auto Balm.

    20140528_160239.jpg

Used a Microfiber Madness Dry Me Crazy towel that I picked up from Detailing Shed for the first time, have to say might impressed with it!

Interesting, how does it work, easy to use?

Very easy... Didn't leave a crispy finish either, like paint would. Its quite soft to the touch.
Just have to wait and see if it fades again, in the ravages of the Irish sun..!:D

I detailed this Mini Last week :)

First the car was washed, de-tarred, clay bared and the iron contamination was removed seen in this picture.

    DSCF9109_zps361bd71f.jpg

Making sure all the nooks and crannies got attention.

    DSCF9112_zpsb7088e3a.jpg

We then dried the car ready for paint touch ups and paint dept and defect inspection.

    DSCF9113_zpse5b5a3c0.jpg

We filled the holes where the number plates ware mounted as they would have started to rust.

    DSCF9115_zpsa081425d.jpg`

    DSCF9117_zpsdefd33e1.jpg

We tape up all plastic trim as they could get stained during the correction process.

    20140521_114146_zps7e92ad52.jpg

Paint corrected and no swirls visible.

    20140520_142056_zps6f416437.jpg

Carbon fiber also corrected and is left defect free.

    DSCF9119_zps22fafde8.jpg

We removed the fuel filler recess cover to hand polish it.

    DSCF9121_zps5837ea6e.jpg

Fitted back in place and looking good

Wow that Mini is nice n glossy now.

Got some stuff from Detailing Shed today and have Friday off. Weather looks to be cloudy/sunny so should be good detailing weather.

Got some CG Blacklight & CG Pete's 53 Black Pearl wax. Cant wait to try em out.
The 53 smells like coconut. Hope my car dosent become a wasp magnet now :pac:

Did you get clay or has it been clayed recently? If not, applying Blacklight and 53 will be kind of a waste of time and you won't get the beading you deserve.

    James,

    Super job on the Mini.

What polish did you use with the DA?

Yep got me some Bilt Hamber clay and will be de ironizing and de tarring too. Admittedly this will be my first claying but no.1 rule is more lube! :)

I used BH regular and found it surprisingly hard and difficult to mould.

Car needed a full detail anyway, but just spilled a protein shake on the passenger seat on way to work this morning. Not looking forward to driving home.

    Leather?

If you find clay hard to mould, drop it into hot water for a few minutes and it becomes nice and soft. Claying a car in winter can be a nightmare, but two pieces, swapping them in the water every 2/3 mintutes and there's no problem!

I always thought that using hot water was a given regardless of the clay or temperature.

Not totally necessary but it does make it softer, easier to mould and less likely to marr.
But you can use it straight out of the box as heat from your hands softens it as you use it a bit too.

Opened my BH clay bar last night and gave it a bit of a poke. It does seem to be fairly malleable straight out of the box

A good month of dirt I think.
Used Chemical Guys - Premium Blue Wheel & Rim on the wheels (it's only ok)
Snow foam with Chemical Guys - Honeydew Snow Foam
2 bucket method with Chemical Guys - Maxi Suds II - Superior Surface Shampoo

I put off getting my car professionally detailed in February but I think I'll get it done during a weeks holiday in June. Must get on to James again, the work he did on that Mini is nice!
