[QUOTE=It's almost Comic-Book Villain levels of evil. At the risk of sounding melodramatic, they should be charged with treason surely?[/QUOTE]

We should all be charged with lunacy for letting these greedy bas**rds get away with their crimes. Not really surprised though because that is the way that business is done in this country.

Germany is one of the few countries doing well in Europe. This is because it is efficiently run and the institutions in it are genuine. If Ireland was run like Germany, we would not be in this quasi dictatorial mess where corruption coupled with incompetence are a way of life. Something like this Anglo Irish Bank fiasco just would not happen there.

The people of this country are kept out of the closed shops that control the government, banks, TV and other sectors. It is all a who you know thing. Fianna Fail of course are stuck in everything: they present The Late Late Show (Tubridy is a relative of a famous FF family), they are on every VEC board, they have dominated the music business (Albert, Tom Allen, Donie Cassidy, Paschal Mooney, etc. And Louis Walsh as an offshoot from these; later on, the Bertie Ahern promoted band Westlife came into being), hotel sector (Cassidy again), and much much more. Anglo Irish Bank was the main financier behind Fianna Fail's domination of all of these sectors. Fine Gael and the rest are not much better only outgunned by Fianna Fail but they still have their share of the pie and also protected Anglo (Alan Dukes was high up in it protecting FGs interests there).

It is time the people demanded real change. As said, this kind of cronyism and closed shopism would not happen in Germany and that's why Germany is Germany and Ireland is Ireland.

    Exactly
Would you not just IGNORE the thread if you didn't want to read about it??

Have to say I've just now listened to the tapes in full - my word, I'm angry.

How did the Irish Indo come up on these tapes?? There HAS to be more.

Drumm, Fitzp and Bowe deserve HARSH sentences for what they've done. I sincerely hope justice WILL be done.

    Buildplumber,

I can't quote long posts because I'm on mobile but I like what you wrote.

    Change is definately needed.

Do you people realise that change is not going to come about from those currently in power. They are far too invested and only thinking of themselves and what they will lose - their jobs, and perhaps with a real change, their incomes, pensions (I almost wrote penises), bonuses, perks, etc

Nor will it happen by us preaching to them. They are just going to turn around and do what the bankers did on the phones and laugh at us.

    A revolution is needed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,879 ✭✭✭purplecow1977

i'm useless at organising things but I will be part of the revolution! going to take a while to get the tide to turn though and get people on board. lots of people are disgruntled and mutter about how crap the government is but very few are willing to actually do anything about it. its like people who complain about bank fees but wont change to another banking facility that offers free/less fees!! I don't know is it typical Irish behaviour that's bred into us or what but we seem very reluctant to enforce change,e ven when we know it's the best thing to do.

These two clowns on prime time are proving EXACTLY why no politician should not be within an asses roar of any inquiry. It would just descend into petty party point scoring.

I've not read the entire thread so forgive me if it's been covered. I've listened to the tapes a couple of times & it struck me today. this f**king sense of entitlement these bastards have. It was the same with KPMG girl, rich=power & the belief that you're superior & unstoppable.

These bastards should be charged with fraud at a minimum.

KPMG girl was 16, naive and extremely intoxicated. These boys are very smart, egotistical and apparently fearless.

Oh yeah, that's a given, but she didn't lick it off a stone & it's bred into them.

Did it really take the tapes for you too realise how corrupt this kip is, I will excuse your comment if you are under 45 years of age.

It sets us all thinking. What are all these scumbags be they bwankers poli****ians or whatever other baddies saying about the people and the mess the country is in behind our backs?

To hear these fcukers laughing and joking on these tapes without a care in the world is truly sickening. People lose their jobs, prices go up, and indirect or abnormal taxes from health insurance to property taxes and VAT are increased and YET we get nothing back in return only more corruption, incompetence and defending the indefensible!

We need rid of FF, FG, Labour and all these weak, spineless capitulating idiots. We also do not want the Jintos and a real life Love/Hate government. We need a revolution organised by the people for the people. First thing we need to do is give these bwankers 50 years in jail and modify laws to allow the country to take money laundered by these back off of them. The way Irish politics is gone, those who spoiled their votes with writing Dustin the Turkey on the ballet were not so daft afterall: with some of the jokers we have standing for election, Dustin is not so out of place among the many other turkeys!!

    43 next week :)

I'd suspected it for a while but it's just been confirmed. Unfortunately now I'm too old to bail on the bastards

Some tool on the radio earlier was saying that people cannot be prosecuted for 'making mistakes'. Firstly, this goes far far beyond making errors!

Secondly, as directors of Anglo, there were several clear breaches of company law. Hopefully this is what Inda meant earlier when he said there was a criminal case due before the courts early next year.

No. It is just another reminder that Ireland is a corrupt, self serving incompetent dictatorship where ALL offices of authority are a clique and don't give a hoot about the people.

It's pointless dredging all this up, it was five years ago and if anything was going to be done, it would have been done by now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,456 ✭✭✭Quandary

Never mind a revolution, we need to be invaded, conquered and ruled. At the moment, Ireland is a country where corruption & cronyism goes ultimately unpunished. Look at every tribunal we've had. Costing fortunes, taking almost decades in some cases and accomplishing nothing tangible. Look at Bertie ahern FFS!!

FF have destroyed the country. FG, while not as bad as FF, aren't exactly whiter than white either and then you have the lunacy party that is SF. Will this country ever have a credible alternative??

It's genuinely very upsetting. Thinking about it too much reminds me of a nightmare in which I'm screaming but no sound is coming out of my mouth.

Then again he did/does have savings in German Bonds.;)

That is not fair, no one told him about the tapes the Gardai had in their possession for the last four years.

The tapes prove beyond all doubt that the Anglo stuff was far from a mistake. It was a premeditated murder of the Irish economy to safeguard the future of Anglo Irish Bank and those who had money in it.

Have you had your head in the ground for the last few years? There have been countless criminal investigations into Anglo and mounds of evidence was carted away from their old HQ. If there was a case to be brought against anyone in Anglo, it would have been done by now.

    Just let it go.

In fact, the Garda investigation is not finished, but is apparently close to finished, which is, I suspect, why these tapes are surfacing now.

Not a chance! There is a criminal case being brought against Anglo next year as a result of all the raids you mentioned above. Head not in the sand, just waiting for the case to happen and hoping the same parts of company law that the likes of us have to deal with are enforced here.

Under the current legal system, this cannot be done. The regime that includes a close relationship between politicians and bwankers has made sure the law covers them and there are cop out clauses. It is the same as Hitler trying Hitler for the Holocaust or the US government trying the US government for Hiroshima or the Iraq war! These things DON'T happen: regimes don't jail themselves! Ireland is no different. the fact that FG are in instead of FF makes no different. Alan Dukes and his Anglo connection proves this point!
