Absolutely, this notion that vaginas are "dirty" is fcuking ridiculous. At least we're not being constantly told (by advertising etc) that we need to use douches, like the Americans were for years. Though certain sanitary towel manufacturers do trade on this paranoia about ladyparts to try and get us to pay more for "actipearls" and similar bs. All these "vagina deodorants" and "freshness wipes" in the toiletries aisle make me want to stab people:mad:
Hair removal should be your own choice, but don't pretend it's unhygienic to have pubic hair, that's ridiculous. Pubic hair provides protection for a very sensitive area of the body; apart from the possible complications of the removal method itself, a bare pudenda is more vulnerable to irritation from clothing etc.

I would never shave my bits, that goes double for letting someone near them with hot wax. I have literally just now trimmed them with a beard trimmer thingy. I use same on my arms in the summer, but to be fair nobody has ever said anything about my arms being "too hairy." This thing of removing arm hair seems to be a relatively new phenomenon. My niece got picked on in school for having hair on her arms when she was ten, I was astounded.

No man has ever asked me to shave my pubic hair. Ffs I spend enough time keeping my legs and underarms smooth, if a bloke asked me to do anything with my pubes I'd tell him to spend a month keeping his legs and underarms hair free and then get back to me.

I did have a bf once who said he considered it amazing and a great favour that I would go through the pain of epilating my legs and underarms "for him." (I decided not to mention that I wasn't just doing it for him and that it doesn't actually hurt;))

At last, someone speaks some sense!

A lot of my friends are paying massive money for laser on their legs and pubic area, they use Veet on their arm hairs as they don't like the look of it, they bleach their upper lip and sides of their face etc, It's like body hair has become something a lot girls find completely repulsive - which I find crazy - it is natural and is there to serve a purpose. Fair enough, have a bit of trim etc but the current trend seems to be for the almost bald look ie: what you looked like when you were 5 years old!

Correct! Like when a woman has a bush whether full or trimmed shows maturity

Exactly - we obviously evolved to have pubic hair for good reason. I had mine waxed once and never again  No way am I ever having hot wax poured on me down there and the hair ripped out from the root ever again. Torture.

If I had the cash I'd probably think about getting the legs and underarms lasered, just because it would be nice if I didn't have to spend any more time on them:) But that's as far as i'd go, removing arm hair etc is just a step too far for me. Same bf I mentioned above was genuinely astounded when he found out i'd trimmed my arm hair. I only do it when the mood takes me tbh, if I let it go for a while it doesn't bother me. He literally could not understand what the "problem" was with arm hair.
Also, if you remove the hair from the sides of your face, it makes your face look fatter:pac:
Bottom line, everyone has hair all over their bodies. Go ahead and remove it if you feel like it (I love having smooth legs:)) but don't let someone else tell you what to do with your body, and don't try to tell other people what to do with theirs :)

Edit: and yeah, I know it's the influence of porn, but I can't help finding bald gentialia a bit too reminiscent of prepubescence. I'm not saying every man who likes a shaved pussy is a closet paedo, but it is kinda creepy if you think about it.
I remember when the full pubic wax was starting to become a craze someone wrote about it in the Sunday Times, they pointed out that removal of all body hair was very much the norm in Middle Eastern cultures and then said "I can't help wondering if it's got somethig to do with them treating women like children..."

But sure who sees the bush area other than your partner? Would it really make a difference if didn't shave?

Oh yes I would probably get my legs lasered also- the bliss of never having to shave them again :P - but I was told by a beautician that it is most effective on dark hair and mine is very fair so that's a no-go. I bet your arm hair is fine - I have a friend who is convinced hers is atrocious and mixes up some hair lightening cream in a little dish and puts it on her forearms to turn the hairs blonde - even though she has black hair and dark colouring. The hair on her arms really bothers her but I really cant see the problem with it!!

I agree.... Like its society telling women to shave! I for one am against this and we should stand up against it!

Heh yeah, remember that picture of Julia Roberts with hairy pits? I was amazed how many people were going round saying it was "disgusting"...like, men usually don't shave under their arms so if it's so gross and unhygienic for women, why aren't men being told to shave their pits?
Society - both men and women - loves to tell women what they should be doing with their bodies. Society can go fcuk itself :pac:

Not to me, personally, it's just that it seems like we women literally cannot look at our bodies without criticising ourselves; hair is just one part of that. If we have the notion in our heads that "a full bush is bad!" it's just one more thing to mentally beat ourselves up about. Even when we're aware of this pressure we put on ourselves, it's surprisingly difficult to break the habit:(

Personally I'd trim the bush for two reasons. One, partners seem to find oral sex easier with less hair (though not everyone cares tbh, I never started trimming mine until I was 30 and I never had any complaints before:D) and two, I just found that I liked the neat and tidy look when I tried trimming it for the first time.

Anything you can do to make seeing yourself naked more of a positive experience is good, IMHO, but only up to a point. If you're going through pain or spending tons of time/cash because you think that your body is just "not good enough" then I think you're going too far. There's grooming and then there's self-punishment.

Good points. I've personally never trimmed anywhere. I've a woman and she doesn't care. She says it manly but she never says shave. Only thing she sometimes says is my area below the genitals is is getting thick.

I like chomping down on an ould gee sandwich. The pubes are part of the eating experience like chips with a kebab :)

See, if my leg hair was fair I'd probably leave most of it alone! Mine is quite dark and strong thanks to genetics and pcos so I prefer to remove it. I think there is an alternative to laser, for people with fairer hair (ipl or something?) idk how effective it is though.
Haha I bleached my arm hair a couple of times when I was younger, it took AGES, no joke, I had to do one section at a time, it took hours  then I thought "Wait, why am I doing this? I've better things to do with my time....":) The hair is not even dark, my arms did look nice when I had bleached it but it wasn't worth the effort:)

Then if your arm hair is light and blonde etc your pubic hair would be. Lighter the area less noticed

Hm well if you do decide to shave, use a mirror, and for Christs sake take it slowly!;) The perineal area is not a nice place to have itchy regrowth, so I wouldn't really recommend shaving there unless you're into discomfort:(

Nah, pubic hair an arm hair are different. The arm hair is kind of light brown? Looks darker in some light, looks blonde in other light.

True I guess.... Just looked at mind your right lol

I'd never really bother with my arm hair. It's light and really doesn't bother me. I'm allergic to wax and veet so I shave. I get my eyebrows and any other facial areas that need it threaded. I think a lot of this obsession with hair removal is silly to be honest. It started as a fashion fad then escalated from a pubic wax to laser hair removal. Ironically enough the trend is now for ridiculous HD brows that you can see coming at you 100 feet away:rolleyes:

People should just do what they feel comfortable with. Years ago I had to have ovarian cysts removed and had to have the pubic area completely shaved. I asked my husband what he thought of it and he said it was freaky and he didn't like it.

Exactly, a lot of the arguments against full bush are spurious.

It kinda reminds me of people using hygiene as a reason for circumcision. (Obvs a more serious issue than waxing)

Like I said, nothing against whatever people wanna do with their hair down there, just some of the reasons have no basis in reality.
Meh, I've found it uncomfortable on the occasions that I've let it get a bit overgrown. Kinda sore tbh and I don't feel as clean and fresh as I'd like to, despite showering daily. Maybe my skin in the area is particularly sensitive. I mostly just trim too, only shaving the lighter hair that's more difficult to trim. I'm not into the baldy stuff at all.

I work in operating theatres and for what its worth on a gyne list in my experience tis about 40:40 shaved or unshaved with the rest 'styled'. Been a couple of woaha moments with few zz top tributes! As for hygiene makes little difference either way though general consensus is that unshaved keeps the ph and bacteria balance better, reducing things like thrush, folliculitis, sweat absorbtion so less odour believe it or not. Tis a protective barrier from erm injury if things become a bit frantic in the heat of things. But everyone to their own as long as the odd shower is taken! Its when somone hasnt bathed shaven or unshaven and arriving in for an op that things can be a bit nasty (face masks are much appreciated then!!!).

Pubes don't cause friction burns...stubble can, though. And folliculitis is way worse than that, trust me.
