It was a tongue in cheek comment.

Unfortunatly the people who decide to take personal training are the type of people who either have no time to spend reading up on the internet and figuring this stuff out or are the people type of people who will pay money to absolve personal responsibility in it.

Also modicum of cop-on massively lacking in general. All you have to do is look at the sales figures of raspberry ketones to see this

Oi! Im taking slight offence to this.

I'm speaking of the main consumers of personal training. I think you'll agree there's a difference between someone who consults a trainer for very specific training advice. Be it form checks on lifts, competing in physique contests, versus someone who turns up at a personal trainer with a I'm fat and lazy fix me attitude.

Personally I've stopped thinking of my self as a personal trainer mainly due to the actions of the main part of the industry.

Have you tested your lifts yet? It was supposed to be last week, wasn't it?

No supposed to be this week but Im not going to bother. Stress of testing when Im unsure of form and have a niggly back issue.

Ah absolutely I was just joking.

I completely agree with you though, its just an extension of the instant grafitification and magic pill society.

Reminds me of the steak sandwich I was surprised with in Cavtat a few years back. Two big slabs of steak with some miscellaneous cheese and diced onion, pepper and courgette sandwiched between them.

Way too much effort, the thought of cooking steaks and bacon and then not eating it straight away is upsetting.

I was playing with my daughter, chasing her round the sofa and my small toe met the wooden leg of the sofa at high speed. Toe is fairly bruised and the foot is bruised for and inch or so behind it. I can't put much weight on it this morning.

    Serious question:

Would you be more interested in a range of classes specialising in bodyweight training, ie stretching and mobility, rings, acrobatics or an integrated program which covers all bases?

I'd pick the latter because you'd no doubt be dealing with a range of abilities. Now if they only want to work on, say, mobility for the duration of the program then I'd let them. They will also see others doing ring work and acrobatics which may pique their interest to give that a shot when they're comfortable or on the next cycle of the program.

Isnt an integrated one just Crossfit?

    Mass market- integrated.
Personally- First one as they are all areas Im quite weak in.

Crossfit in my mind is something quite specific. An integrated program would be more aiming to build a movement machine ie in complete control of their body.

I assumed he meant an integrated body weight program, which is a but more specific than crossfit in general- although this is probably going to be a new class at a crossfit gym.

If they are all areas you are weak in would it not make sense to go for the second one that covers them all. But maybe I have the wrong idea if what's being suggested.

I'd choose the clown school option.

Ok well Id very interested in the above. I think I can train myself in the barbell/weights side of things to a reasonable degree. I wouldnt really no where to start with mobility and stretching etc.

Mellor; yeah you are right I misread Emmets initial post.

If you're willing to sit down and learn, all the information needed is on youtube.

    It's not rocket science, like.

Left theoretical physics in tcd to do that, the parents were very impressed:pac:

I missed a trick there. What might I have become if I had done theoretical and not experimental physics...? :-(

You'd be arguing over semantics til the end of your career with out ever getting to the point where one of your ideas is testable
