Buy a whole console and a new arcade stick for one fighting game? I am preeeetty confident I would regret that. That's like 600 euro for one game.

...and wait do you even own KI yet, 2gen?

So after the amount of people who recently went out to get a stick and a new console for SF5 (which has very little footage out with very mixed feelings from fans) and a game that they have already been playing for 6 years (USF4)... you're telling me it's not worth to go out to get KI?

I'd never suggest someone to do something if I'd wouldn't do myself, and in this case someone expressed interest in the game that I'm saving up for myself. You also seemed to fail to mention the point that I also suggested to wait for a possible PC version.

In the end, NO ONE buys a console just for 1 game. "Oh geez, I like Bloodborne so I'll buy a console for that and not buy anything else". Once you have a machine, you're going to look around for games already released or will come out now that you can. Anyone who doesn't really did waste money.

But yeah, everyone thinks differently. As Bush said he isn't happy and you said you wouldn't and I repect that. I also frequently visit the KI forums where a lot of new and old fans are enjoying the game and would say that it was worth it.

Trailblazer was the best KI song ever for the best KI char ever  would be sick if they somehow released a classic music pack for t he game? KI had a brilliant soundtrack

Cinder looks cool, I wish they would remove the armor things and just make him look like he is meant to, a dude on fire, but it's whatever. Just glad they didn't go too overboard and ruin him.

They actually did release the soundtrack of Season 1 + the Classic OST during the beginning of Season 2 on Amazon, iTunes and Google Play. It was number 1 on Amazon in October when it was released.

Also did you see how crazy his original concept was? ...

I'm soooo happy they decided not to stick to this... this was defiantly too much.

    Cinder's Movelist

    10_cinderpic.jpg

    Adam Isgreen; 4/10/15

This week we’re going to focus on Cinder’s moveset; what is and is not coming back from his original repertoire, plus his new additions.

KI1 cinder was a straightforward character. Here’s his old core moveset:
    • Trailblazer (fireball dash)
    • Fire Flash (flipping upper-kick)
    • Inferno (Medium-range flame jet)
    • Heat Fist (short-range flame palm)
    • Heatsink (invisibility)
    • Mirage (projectile immunity)
So let’s just rip the bandage off here – the top 4 core moves are all back in some form. Heatsink and Mirage are not returning.

Philosophically, Cinder isn’t a character about hiding or evading, he’s about burning aggression, and we didn’t feel that his character was served well in that regard by the last two moves. Invisibility is also a very touchy fighting game mechanic – it’s either useless or too good, and we didn’t believe Cinder needed that, especially with his new repertoire.

    Cinder’s moveset:

    Unique trait – Fired Up!
    • The Fired Up state augments the next special attack Cinder uses with additional properties.
    • Cinder automatically regains Fired Up State approximately 8 seconds (4 timer units) after it is consumed, no matter what is happening.
    • Fired Up State burns automatically when you do your next special move. The only way to save it for later is to simply not perform any special moves.
    • Cinder’s body glows brighter and hotter, and his head/shoulder flames burns more intensely when Fired Up is ready for use.

    Fire Flash (d,u+K) (damage ender)
    • Yes, OF COURSE IT’S BACK! Just like you remember it.
    • Light version is an invulnerable reversal attack.
    • Medium and Heavy versions have improved range.
    • Fired Up version shoots a lava pillar from the ground that juggles the opponent for a second hit, keeping them in the air, or keeping you relatively safe if you were blocked.

Trailblazer (b,f+K) (Opener, Linker, Wall-splat ender)
    • Now a command move (b,f+K) instead of dash, due to its larger role and having a shadow version.
    • Button power controls initial angle (diagonally up, straight, diagonally down)
    • Once you’ve done trailblazer once, holding in any direction and hitting any K will cause a second trailblazer to happen in that direction... yes, all 8 directions!
    • Works in-air too, and you can attack on the way down after its over.
    • If you’re Fired Up, you can do a 3rd trailblazer after your 2nd before you are forced to land. Tricky!

Inferno (QCB+K) (linker, kick burnout ender)
    • Medium-range jet of flame that causes a large amount of Potential Damage when blocked.
    • Button power controls duration and advantage, as well as the amount of Potential Damage inflicted on block.
    • Fired Up version has very long range.
    • Shadow version sprays fire low to high and back again several times. Hits lots.

Fission (QCB+P) (opener, linker, punch burnout ender)
    • Replacement for Heat Fist.
    • Cinder smashes two Pyrobombs (more on these later) together to blow them up in your face.
    • LP version is a fake out, great to mix into his pressure.
    • MP version combos from some attacks, and works as a frame trap from others, but is disadvantaged on block.
    • HP version has long startup, but has huge advantage on hit and block.
    • Shadow version causes a large 10 hit explosion. Ouch!

    Combo Trait: Burnout Enders

You may have noticed that Inferno and Fission are designated kick/punch burnout enders – what’s up with that?

Burnout enders set the opponent’s upper (punch) or lower (kick) body on fire, generating potential damage on the afflicted character for a limited amount of time, based on the ender level.
    • If you use a Punch attack while suffering from Punch Burnout, you will fan the flames and reset the full duration of the burnout debuff.
    • If you use a Kick attack while suffering from Kick Burnout, you will fan the flames and reset the full duration of the burnout debuff.
    • Burnout enders deal very poor damage.
    • If you fight an opponent who is making your life miserable with crouching medium kick, try a Kick Burnout ender to make them think twice about using the kick buttons.
    • If you are suffering from Burnout and perform a combo breaker, your burnout will go away instantly.

    Instinct mode: Pyromania

Cinder is permanently Fired Up. Deadly.

    The new stuff!

    Pyrobombs (b,f+P) (meter ender)
    • Cinder throws small plasma bomb projectile at various arcs at the opponent. LP is low arc / long range, MP is mid arc / medium range, HP is high arc / short range.
    • Useable in the air
    • Pyrobombs are harmless, but are sticky and will attach to the opponent if they connect… even when blocking.
    • Up to three Pyrobombs can be on the screen at one time. Throwing a fourth will cause all existing Pyrobombs to detonate immediately. Not so harmless anymore!
    • Hitting Cinder causes all Pyrobombs in play to fizzle out harmlessly.
    • Pyrobombs fizzle out harmlessly after about 7 seconds (~3.5 timer units)
    • Fired Up version throws a larger Pyrobomb.
    • Shadow version throws a much larger Pyrobomb.

    Pyrotechnics (3P)
    • Cinder snaps his fingers, detonating all Pyrobombs in play.
    • Usable in the air
    • Explosion size is based on the type of Pyrobomb (Normal, Fired Up, or Shadow)
    • You can block these explosions even if the Pyrobombs are attached to you.
    • Bombs attached to an opponent will chain-react each other and launch the enemy (if not blocking). More bombs = higher launch = easier to pick up the juggle.

Third Degree (Chain LP, MP, HP in any order)
    • Cinder is a highly trained martial artist with a background in Kempo, CQC, and other military fighting systems. His body may look alien, but his fighting style is all human.
    • Cinder’s Third Degree chain combos allow him to chain LPx3, or MPx3, or HPx3. Or you can mix and match these in any order up to three hits.

The final hit of each combo has properties based on which button you used.
    • LP ends with a cup check for excellent frame advantage
    • MP ends with a spinning attack that steps forward, keeping Cinder close
    • HP ends with a launcher that is jump cancelable

    Crossfire (d+HK, air only)
    • Think of this as a reverse Fireflash that slams opponents down to the ground.
    • Recaptures!
    • Can cancel into this from an air normal, but it is not an overhead attack.

    Other notables
    • D+HP is a big uppercut that is also a launcher and is jump-cancellable.
    • Jumping HK is the fanciest crossup ever.
    • Backdash (roll) covers good distance.

And that’s that. Cinder is highly aggressive, tricky, and has some crazy juggles with bombs and trailblazer combos, especially if you reset to detonate attached bombs. Nasty!

Look for updated info from us on a video stream sometime next week to show this all off. For now, have fun theorycrafting!

OMFG! Did they remake trailblazer? DAMN, now that's sick

A lot of the new KI music sounds very like a band called Meshuggah (which is a good thing!), same kinda style. Interesting. I'm so glad with how cinder looks and with how they handled his theme, he's my favorite KI character so can't wait to see his reveal/walkthrough

    ARIA Concept Art

The picture is huge so I'll just leave the link here --> http://www.ultra-combo.com/__temp2/images/photos/ARIA_cncpt.jpg

    Story snippet:

ARIA began life as a simulation of… life. Utilizing radically new processing technologies and other technological insight gleaned from a government incident in 1947, the Ultrafine Atomic Technologies Company (founded in 1948) performed research into the simulation of life and human frailty within a computational matrix. The core program ARIA was born of the desire to uplift the human race; to end disease, famine, poverty and push humanity out of what was seen as the primordial muck and mire it wallowed in. This work took on greater and greater meaning for its founder, industrialist Ryat Adams, as his wife was dying of a degenerative disease and he desperately sought a cure for her condition.

Over time, Ryat and the UATC continued to refine and enhance its ARIA humanity simulation program, assigning it more and more complex simulations of the human condition as its capabilities continued to grow and more tech from the government source was understood and exploited. Years passed, and when Ryat finally died, his will included instructions to continually allow ARIA to run her programming as she searched for the solutions to human frailties.

    How she plays:

"When fighting ARIA you are not fighting one character – you’re fighting three.

Being an AI, ARIA isn’t corporeal, but she can take form in order to interact with the world around her. She does that through some of Ultratech’s most powerful tech, assembling herself from nanite cores. The three combat drones you see above have nanite cores (see the embedded hex lens in each?), meaning ARIA uploads her personality into a drone, and the drone physically assembles a body for ARIA from its core.

All three drones don’t assemble ARIA in exactly the same way. While she retains a similar (and excellent) normal attack set and two kick-based special attacks across all of them, her punch specials and many unique properties are directly tied into the drone she’s currently been assembled from.

Here’s a taste of the powers she gains when assembled from the different drones:
    • Booster Drone builds a body capable of incredible air maneuverability and has an air / ground rush attack move. You can see Booster Body in the teaser, as this Drone looks like wings and uses prototype sonic technology to help ARIA hover.
    • Blade Drone builds a body with a sword arm that uses prototype sonic vibration tech. It is capable of rushing slashes, an invulnerable uppercut, a grounded overhead, chip damage normals, and increased poke range.
    • Bass Drone builds a body with a prototype sonic cannon in the chest and can deliver high, low, and anti-air multi-hit projectiles that travel at sonic speeds.

The other two “free” drones float directly behind the one ARIA is uploaded into, one drone in a high position, one low.

ARIA can upload herself into a different drone with 3P (high position switch) and 3K (low position switch) when in idle on the ground or via special Upload Enders (her combo trait). She can even Upload to a different drone before the fight starts or between downs if you want.

The free drones can also be called in for assists – B+HP for the high position drone, B+HK for the low position drone – each with a unique behavior based on what that Drone’s Body-form can do. They can be called in almost simultaneously, too, allowing you to have two assists at the same time, but be careful to cover them as they can be hit and take permanent damage just like the Body form can!
    • Booster Drone assist does a long range rushing attack to knock opponents away. You can punish Booster anytime, if you can catch it!
    • Blade Drone assist delivers a strike-invulnerable rising slash at close range, with a long, punishable recovery.
    • Bass Drone assist fires the sonic cannon. Bass is easy to punish on startup or recovery, but because he fires a projectile, ARIA is less likely to call Bass from up close.

But wait, it’s not all gravy:
    • ARIA’s total health is divided equally amongst the three drones, meaning each drone has less health than a normal player’s health bar (actually about a third shorter than normal on-screen).
    • It takes a lot of energy for the Drone’s nanite core to form an ARIA body, and as such, the drone she is assembled from cannot recover any of its potential damage (PD). The only way to heal PD on a drone is to upload to a different drone and let the old one recover.
    • As noted above, when a drone is called to assist, it’s vulnerable to attack, and can take permanent damage or even be destroyed by opponent attacks. ARIA players will have to call these wisely and protect them.
    • When a drone is destroyed, it’s destroyed for the remainder of that match. This means your combat options diminish as you lose drones!
    • To be clear: Beating any other character in the game requires you to “down” them twice, as KI doesn’t really have rounds. To beat ARIA, you must down all three Drones, whether she is currently uploaded into them or not!
    • To be even more clear; No, you don’t have a “round 2” after destroying all three drones, and then have to do it again. Destroy them all once and ARIA’s game is over.

That’s plenty to speculate on for her already, so we’ll end it here. Essentially, you have a tag-team of similar-but-different characters, all in one. Let the theorycrafting begin!

PS – She doesn’t have a recapture, and yes, she can be thrown."

She looks hyper generic, but I rather think that's the point...

  • Registered Users Posts: 598 ✭✭✭Macal

I think that generic design is kind of needed for such a complex metagame that she seems to have. Sounds like a "Marvel Mode" in KI of sorts to me. Pretty hard to visualize how that works, will have to wait to the next Iron Galaxy stream to see it.
