I hope it is Capaldi, a more mature Doctor would be nice. Plus he's been in doctor who before and we all know the beeb love to re use actors in who.

I would absolutely adore Chris O'Dowd as the doctor, I think he'd be brilliant. Sadly I can't see it happening :p

If it is Peter Capaldi I'll be going back to Fires of Pompeii next time they're casting someone new :p

I have no TV yet so I shall be relying on twitter and here for the news!

Wow, so there is an audience; they're certainly making a big deal and intent on dragging things out, aren't they.

It is getting a little cringe-worthy/Luvies-fest.

Peter Capaldi is officially The Doctor.

    Great choice imo

    Not sure I like him.

Older doctor. I liked the younger versions plus he seems a little "feeble".

Frobisher! That's where I know him
Funny how they always go back to people who were in previous unrelated episodes

If he can command respect a la Hartnell, or kick ass like Pertwee who cares what age he is?

Well done, Moffat - good call :D

To be fair, Matt and maybe David were the only younger ones.

All the others have ranged from late 30s to near 70s.

The Doctor isn't about age or looks after all.

I'm so stoked for the regeneration now! So glad they went for the mature doctor option. Great choice :)

Can finally start putting these to good use, I suppose.

I'm hoping for some darker storylines now, and a reduction in the doe eyed companions.
