Doesn't seem to be able to be bought online and there weren't any readers in my local Xtra vision.

Ordered from Argos on 29th May, delivery this morning via Parcel Motel.

Cool, now time to root this bad boy. Lovely looking device.

Many thanks to the OP and others in this thread :)

Bough this case from eBay from the Hong Kong seller. €9 with free delivery and arrived within a week. I quite like it because it clips on and not a slip. Feels cheap enough but looks good and seems sturdy and will protect it from scrapes and dirt.

Ordered through Argos.co.uk, delivered using Parcel Motel, picked up last night. Haven't got chance to play with it yet.
    Thanks to the OP!

I wonder what this means? Presumably we can't register these devices? Which probably doesn't matter if I'm going to root it but its still peculiar...

I had to do this also, thanks for the tip.

Note that a couple of other nook forums have reported that while this works, it leads to much faster-than-normal battery drain while in sleep mode. Now this might relate to older firmwares, it might be worth keeping an eye on.

Available to order on Asda direct but won't despatch till June 14th. I assume they will deliver to Parcel Motel?

Bugger. Is that across the board for that registration workaround?

Have you a link handy please?

    Thanks

Like I said, this might be for older firmwares, but read on from post 17 on this page:

    Hi folks.

Trying to purchase one of these off ASDA and then use Parcel Motel, but ASDA are requesting a landline or mobile number, and my Dublin one is no use. Any number I could use? Thanks ;)

Had the same thing with Argos - try putting 00353 in front.

Or failing that try Parcel Motel NI number?

Just tried the 00353, won't accept.

Would entering any UK number work, or do they send out an SMS or something for you to prove it's your number?

FYI, tried using the Antrim number (02890848411), all went through okay :)

Has anyone else who got their's in that last few days had the issue with not being able to register? The nook says there was a problem and asks you to reset. Looks like there is definitely a potential battery issue with skipping registration and I'm wondering why I can't register...

I was getting the "Sorry we are having trouble setting up your NOOK ..." error this morning. Tried restarting and resetting a few times this morning, no joy. Left it for the day, tried it this just there this evening, was able to register first time! I made no changes in between.
Try leaving for a few hours and see what happens.

i'll give it a try in the morning. In the meantime I've figured out how to actually completely turn off the nook (hold down the power button at the back for a few seconds) and I have a suspicion this may relieve the possible battery issue. i'll see how it does overnight.

Installed Calibre just now and copying over my Kindle books is dead handy so I think I'll leave it unrooted.

What's the best/handiest/cheapest supplier for these at the moment? Argos.co.uk? I see asda won't ship til June 14th

Mine arrived to Parcel Motel from Argos in 3 days. Savage service on both ends.

Mine was 'delivered' from Argos to Parcel Motel on Monday - should I expect to get my text from PM in the morning to say go & collect? Excited :D

I never even got an email off Argos, just one from Parcel Motel with my Pin code for collection.

Parcel motel is savage. Great idea even without the added mega bonus of ordering from UK sites.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 192 ✭✭boogaloop

I didn't get an email from Argos, I just checked up on their site as to the status of my order.

    Totally agree, ParcelMotel ROCKS :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,503 ✭✭✭Fuzzy_Dunlop

Yeah Parcel Motel is unreal. Ordered two of these off Ebay with free UK delivery on Monday afternoon, got a text last night saying it was ready for collection from PM.

I reset my nook today and tried to register again and it let me through this time with no problems, for anyone else that had to use the workaround like I did.

hopefully wont have battery problems now
