You need to download the UK firmware. Have a peek here.

I even googled Nook 1.2.1 UK to see if there was a difference and nothing jumped out. Thanks MM.

I seem to have bricked mine!! Tried rooting it. When it restarted a screen saying "Your Nook is starting up..." appeared. That was Saturday. It's still there now! Anyone any ideas? Had a quick google and one of the methods seems to be to remove the battery but by the looks of things that's not particularly straight-forward (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zr0dCMavbPo)

I'm losing it now: earlier was told lw order cannot be cancelled. Logged in few minutes ago, order status: cancelled. No email, no notice given. Sick to the teeth now! Feeling like a clown now: missed out on HP Pre3, Nook gone too. Next time I get my anti firesale armour on and resist the temptation!

Ah yes I see the same on Hermes!!! So much for it being dispatched on the 22 May! Allyall I'm assuming you gave the Parcel Motel address....may I ask did you successfully get your PMID added? I entered mine in the "care of" field but I don't think it made it through....

Have you rang Parcel Motel to tell them? I'd say they wouldn't have a problem with it, as long as they knew it was coming.. Otherwise they may have to find your name/PMID and Parcel Motel Location, It may or may not be the bit of hassle they don't want to deal with. I'd ring.. :)

Did you out I'm a fake mobile number to get passed that part?

Got mine from Asda last week. I gave the number of parcel motel in Antrim. I'm sure a fake/random one would work just as well.

    Asda have stock again.

Thanks just managed to order one. Once these threads get over 1,000 replies I find myself unable to resist buying!

Now can someone tell me what exactly I've bought and point me to a guide to getting the most out of it without reading the entire thread!? :)

It's a pretty damn nice ereader, I'm sure you guessed that part :) You can install android marketplace on it, so you can put kindle software on it etc. Here's an idea for some of the things it can do..

    http://lifehacker.com/5926798/turn-your-rooted-nook-into-the-ultimate-ereader-with-these-10-apps

If you want to root it (to install android marketplace) make sure you use nookmanager. There are other rooting softwares out there but they're not compatible with the latest firmware, so stick with nookmanager. Then you'll have to install NTGAppsAttack to install apps on your rooted nook.

I rooted mine but after a week or so using it I don't think I'll make use of it as anything other than an ereader, but it's a really nice ereader for sure :)

My Nook arrived while I was on holidays. I tried to use the Nook Store, before I root it, but it won't accept my credit card details for purchases. Anyone managed to get around this?

I've managed to buy a few books successfully from the nook store using a money bookers card. I haven't rooted nook yet and don't intend doing either.

I'm disgusted. Never got the expected text last night. There's a photo of the box on my account so they've obviously matched it to me. I've tried everything to contact them. No reply to emails, phone calls, or from Orla on here....

    That's shocking..
But may be a security thing. You'll probably have no problem contacting them when they're back from the weekend..

It's great that they deliver 24/7, but it would be good if they had weekend support for any situations like that, that may happen.

Just got this mail from Flubit, for an order I made 23 days ago.
    Hello mcgovern,

Currys don't have a stock due date, in fact they have advised they have 3000 of these on back orders. Do you wish to continue waiting for this item or to cancel?

    Regards,

And response to my complaint, that other retailers shipped orders in that period.
    Hello

Your order has now been cancelled and refunded, an email will arrive shortly to confirm this. We have placed many orders for the NOOK and can only recall 2 orders being fulfilled. We have contacted major supplier's who have had stock issue for some time, all of them have confirmed a delay with this item.
Sorry for this and the delay

    Regards,

I won't be in a rush to use Flubit again.

Mine was fulfileld the other day, it should be in parcel motel by now, so that's quite weird of them. I got that email a while ago for them and said I would wait.

I got a few of those as well, and had said I'd wait, but just got fed up at this stage. They've had my money for over 3 weeks, without providing any service, and today's mail was the first one they sent that was a response to a mail from me.

No stock anywhere and I turned on my kindle3 today only to find the screen randomly cracked. This is cheaper than a replacement screen.

I was going to root mine but now that there are rumors of an email app and browser app coming with the newest firmware update at the start of June I think I'll wait to see what they are like.

All my books are i epub anyway and I don't have a kindle app so there's no real benefit for me to root it if the new firmware has the browser and email reader.
