anyone who ordered from argos Wednesday able to track it online?

No, their tracking is pretty rudimentary.

I ordered from littlewoods, they cancelled account, retried, they cancelled gain, so I ordered from Nook.co.uk, they cancelled so I thought I had missed out, but saw that argos had them back in stock, ordered this week, it arrived yesterday at UK address.
Tracking consisted of their site saying it had shipped and would be delivered by fri between 9am and 6pm.

Scr3w it! I ordered from LW on 4th May, cancelled 3 weeks later, got my money back. If everything goes ok Argos UK delivers it in 1 week. That's how business should be done. Me thinks.

Do you get an email with an order number? This gives expected delivery date. There is also a 'Order Tracking' link in the email which goes to there website where you have to enter 'Order Number', 'Billing Postcode' and 'Surname' to get tracking information. The tracking information simply says that it will be delivered on a certain date.

Also you can check the tracking through your account.

Ordered a Nook from Littlewoods on the 3rd May and have a revised delivery date of 27th June. Thankfully I have already received one from Blackwells so I'm in no rush. I understand the huge demand has led to a shortage but the absolutely zero contact from them is poor business practice.

+1 for a cover link. I'd give you a rooting tutorial link but I think it depends on whether you upgrade the firmware or not.

right I turn it on, first time, pick English, connect to my wifi - click continue. then I get an error message
    Error
sorry were having trouble setting up your NOOK. please shut down and try again.

it lets me choose device info , software is 1.2.1 - I choose reset, go through it all again and same result, anyone any ideas?

I got a message from Parcel Motel earlier saying my package had arrived. Great but when I went to collect it, the machine would not accept my code. It just brought up the enter code screen again. No door opened up, nothing to tell me that the code was accepted and to collect it. It just did nothing. Very odd. I also called the number on screen and got a mailbox full message.
Needless to say, I'm not happy with their service so far and I would be dubious about using them in the future. Suppose it did unlock one of the lockers but did not open it and someone comes along and tries them all and they get my nook?
I'll try it again tomorrow just in case there was some sort of service issue to their main server or something.

Is it connected to your wifi? Maybe it needs to be connected in order to register your device, as part of the setup process?

Edit: Sorry, just seen that you are indeed connected to wifi. I'm not sure so.

When it accepts your code it give a message on the screen and also shows a diagram showing which locker it is unlocking. The doors are spring loaded, so when it unlocks they pop open.

It looks like it didn't accept your phone number / code combination for some reason.

Here are instructions for by passing the OTBE, which gets me to the home screen. Note you don't do the swipe thing until you are at the screen after you choose the language.

I wonder what this means? Presumably we can't register these devices? Which probably doesn't matter if I'm going to root it but its still peculiar...

Hang on a tick, you might be on to something there?
I only recall the screen asking me for the pin code. I was never asked for a phone number, or at least I did not notice it. Perhaps it wanted my number first and then the code? Maybe I was just not paying enough attention
    Will double check tomorrow.
Looking at the how it works section on the site, I can see it does say I need to enter my phone number first. I guess I was just being an idiot.

Ordered from Argos on the 29th, ready for collection yesterday. Can't believe some people from the start are still waiting.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,728 ✭✭✭brightkane

I rooted mine but decided to go back to the regular nook, I will use calibre for it and don't need the android experience, have a tablet and a phone for that

Ordered from Littlewoods on 6 May, my original latest delivery date was 22 May, it's now been moved twice and is showing as 27 June now. Fook that, I'm going to cancel.

Picked mine up from Parcel Motel today. Ordered from Argus UK on Wednesday, it was ready to collect yesterday. First time using Parcel Motel, very happy with it. Nook is currently charging, I've a Kindle myself, so this is for the missus, but it looks and feels nice so far.

Anybody else finding it crashing on the lock screen a fair amount? I'll go to pick it up, the slide to unlock bar will be on the bottom but the arrows will not be moving, and then the only way past it is to restart the nook, which often means I lose the position on my current book, and it pushes me back to page one

No I haven't seen that problem. I'm rooted and have the lock screen switched off. I press the Nook button to unlock from the screen saver.

Is anyone else still waiting on an order from Littlewoods?

I ordered on the 8th of May with a delivery date for Tuesday, 4th June.

Seeing how it hasn't even been dispatched yet I'm very doubtful I'll receive this on Tuesday, or anytime soon to be honest :(

The littlewoods system is all over the place. It's like they're drawing dates out of a hat to decide when people get their nook

I got that once when I put in an SD card without turning the Nook off first. That was the only time though.
