Flash FM - in mono , audio is loud but not distorted except for some high frequencies. Doubt if casual listeners would even notice.

Flash FM sounding dreadful tonight - possibly the transmitter itself is the problem though hard to judge since I don't know the set up - definitely would check to see if there where any sprogs ?
Is Flash Fm another one , or are you referring to that rubbish on 99.5 fresh

Fresh sounds a bit loud tonight, it wouldn’t stop on a scan and information not coming up with the RDS.

This TX on 87.8MHz appears to have no RDS.
Car radios hopping over to a weak 89.1 from Kippure
No RDS being carried on 87.8 Mhz (RTE ) - an engineering error I would guess

Looks like Hot Fm are making a return in a couple of weeks . Apparently there building a new studio again .
They must have got turfed out of the last one .
It would explain the blank carrier on 91.0 ,holding the frequency I guess .

They shared the same video about 25 times on their Facebook page overnight. Who does that? Seems desperate for attention. I see no evidence indicating a return to FM. Besides they claim to be legal now so that means no FM. The carrier on 91.0 is blocking not holding the frequency.

Apologies if this has been recorded already elsewhere. On Sunday 15th September I drove to the East Cork coastal village, Ballycotton near the pitch+putt course to take in the beautiful scenic views of the cliffs, ocean waves hitting the rocks below and the iconic Ballycotton Lighthouse island. The views were quite spectacular and there were some great clearances in the sky. While parked up to take in the impressive views, I managed to access radio reception for BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio 4 and Classic fm all on the FM band. The readings below seem to relate to the "North Hessary Tor" transmitter over in Wales which seem to resemble my reception frequencies at the time. Radio station names came up with their RDS station titles after showing frequencies. I know in past years with older radios you could sometimes tune them in on a winding dial if the weather conditions were ideal especially near the coast. Just posting current readings in case others wish to tune them if in the same geographic area.

    BBC Radio 1 97.7 MHz
    BBC Radio 2 88.1 MHz
    BBC Radio 3 90.3 MHz
    BBC Radio 4 92.5 MHz

Classic fm on 100.5 MHz (Southwest Wales)

I also tuned in to a fairly good daytime reception for BBC Radio 5Live on 693/909KHz Medium Wave and BBC Radio 4 on 198KHz Longwave on Sunday 15th September from Ballycotton in East County Cork.

In Dublin, 99.5 Fresh FM off in addition to Kiss 102.5 and the carrier on 91.0.

Phever 94.3 is the only FM pirate I could pick up this afternoon.

YesI picked up 2 pirate stations just now 99.5 with brutal signal and audio like some from Transylvania horrible. 94.3 was the other pirate I could hear with absolutely supersignal must be pushing some power and fantastic audio, listening in Rathfarnham keep up the good work.

Kiss and Fresh are on now. Nothing on 91.0, well except 2FM for me.

UK stations absolutely romping in in Cork today, 88.1/90.3/92.5/97.7/100.0 from North Hessary Tor and 89.9/92.1/94.3/96.8/99.5/101.7 from Wenvoe

Also BBC Radio Devon on 103.4 and BBC Radio 4 on 104.9 from Haverfordwest.

From up the country, the usual Clermont Carn along with Shannonside 104.1 from Slieve Bawn, iRadio 104.7 Saggart/105.0 Mount Oriel.

An unidentified signal on 107.1 which I presume is Nation Radio from Haverfordwest.

I’m picking up a relay of Energy Power Am 1395 on FM in Dublin this evening, good signal on 99.0, No RDS, sounds like a studio feed as it’s in sync with AM

They have turned up on various frequencies this year between 99.0 and 99.3. The only thing I'm curious about, assuming that the folks in Energy are aware of it, is why they never mention those relays? After all, not everyone has AM on their cars.

I picked up Retro FM on 92FM last night and today around Nutgrove, Ballinteer and Dundrum. There seems to be an increase and improvement in the signal. Incidentally, I heard Derek Jones on this afternoon. I happened to hear him signing off at 3pm: he said he had been on for three hours. He certainly plays stuff that you rarely, if ever, hear on licensed radio stations, with the possible exception of community stations. He seems to favour light pop tunes from the sixties and early seventies. You definitely would not hear the like on 4FM or Q102, and not that particular slant on Sunshine. It's the kind of music you might have heard on RTE Radio 1 about 40 years ago, with the likes of Val Joyce, but not anymore.

A lot of alternative stations broadcasting from time to time in Cork these days:

    Power 87.5MHz
    Spirit 90.9MHz
    Life 93.1MHz
    UCC 98.3MHz
    CUH fm 102MHz

    Also
    True 87.8MHz
    City View 97.6MHz
    Global 104.9MHz
    CRY 104fm (Community Radio Youghal)
Cork City Comunity Radio 100.5MHz part time weekend only for 6 mths of year
    Radio Caroline Cork 107.0? weekends

Val Joyce was the voice of Saturday afternoons for many years on RTÉ Radio 1 through his long running programme "Airs & Races" and he also did "Late Date" on RTÉ Radio 1 too if I recall - perhaps when ex-RTÉ TV Sports Stadium presenter, Liam Nolan was also presenting Late Date? Val Joyce used also do a lot of voice-over work on those advertisement stills which RTÉ 1+2 television used incorporate back in the day! He may have also read some of the viewers letters on Arthur Murphy's "Mailbag" too and other work not referenced here.

Classic Hits on backup audio without any audio processing for last hour on both 94.6 and 94.9 in Dublin.

Seems to be a fairly big power outage around Kingswood so possibly related.

What is going on with iRadio on 104.7, it has sounded awful for months now and seems to be getting worse. Just full on distortion.

Because security is a serious matter.

Genuine question - what's the attraction to having DJ's? I personally love that it's constant music without interruption (for the most part).

Agreed : and to be fair there's only a small few ads at most .

automation is fine as long as the playlist is hugely wide and ideally, added to/updated regularly, trax shows this. however a live mixing dj does bring something extra IMO.
anyway i presume kiss's website isn't actually live yet?
and still nothing for nonstop 90s?

For daytime, maybe DJs following the same playlist - then some specialist shows later in the evening might be OK. Keep most happy.
