Well I will be turning 21 this year and I just can't believe how the years have flown.
The arrived Ford Focus in 1998 I can remember when these were brand new.
Gay Byrne gave up presenting the Late Late show in 1999.
9/11 nearly 12 years ago also we had Foot and Mouth I can remember loads of the St Patrick Parades were cancelled because of this.
The outbreak of SARS happened between 2002 and 2003.
The Madrid train bombings were 9 Years ago.
X-factor/Strictly come dancing/Desperate Housewives/Lost were all launched in 2004.The Northern Bank Robbery happened in December also,
London being awarded the Olympics the 7/7 bombing happened in 2005. Georgie Best and Pope John Paul also died this year.
The disappearance of Madeline Mccann in 2007.
In late 2008 we had the Irish Pork crises.
    Time really does fly.

Pierce Brosnan starred in his first Bond movie, GoldenEye, 18 years ago.

For some reason, my Business Studies teacher in first year told us she was 27. I'm now older than her at the time and she'll be 41 this year!!

I was born in 1985 and I am a child of the 1990s. It's still difficult for me to accept that the 1970s weren't 20 years ago.

Believe it or not, it is forty years ago today - 3rd April 1973 - that the first mobile phone call was made.

Martin Cooper, a senior engineer at Motorola, called a rival colleague at another telecoms company and announced he was speaking from "a 'real' cellular telephone".

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-22013228

And believe it or not, text messaging celebrated its 20th anniversary on 3rd December 2012. The first ever text message, or short message service (SMS), was sent on 3rd December 1992 by 22 year old British software engineer Neil Papworth of Reading via the Vodafone network to the phone of Richard Jarvis, and read simply "Merry Christmas".

However, text messaging seems to be in decline. SMS messages in the UK fell to 38.5 billion in the second quarter of 2012, down from 39.7 billion in the fourth quarter of 2011.

I would imagine most kids in secondary school now don't remember when the PS1 and the N64 were considered high-tech, cutting edge entertainment.

Who remembers Windows 95? MS Paint and Solitare FTW

I remember the original Blockbusters, which ran from 1983 to 1993.

    "Can I have a P, please, Bob?"

There was a new series of the show last year hosted by Simon Mayo.

Similarly, I can remember when the 25th anniversary edition of The Exorcist came out. Now, the film's 40 years old.

1990-96, Goodfellas, Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Casino, Natural Born Killers, Leon, Bad Lieutenant, the Piano, In The Name of the Father, True Romance, The Player, Pret-a-Porter and so many others.

I felt I had the joy of going to the cinema when Hollywood was at its best, mainstream Hollywood and Indie movies were one in the same.

Twas the time they were sick of sequels and long before re-boots.

Didn't last long but it was a glorious period.

Mad Men's Don Draper : What you call love was invented by guys like me, to sell nylons.

I agree with you on most of those films except The Bad Lieutenent, couldn't make head or tail of that film.

The 1970s? Comparatively the '90s were pretty poor cinematically.

Serious question...slightly OT but relevant! Do you still walk up to the cashier when purchasing petrol and say "20 petrol" etc? With the advent of numbered multi pumps I get the feeling it's time to quote pump numbers!

20 petrol/diesel and then the pump number(don't forget to point to the pump in question in case they forget where it is)

The Euro is with us 11 years. It's genuinely like it was yesterday. I still can't help but think I was ripped of during the transition period, especially when I had a skin full in the pubs and night clubs.

Almost 20 years since Riverdance. The laughs that were to be had in the night clubs when almost everyone on the dance floor danced in debatable sync the night it played on the Eurovision and for many weeks after. I don't think I'll ever experience like that again (even when there's just totally fookin stoopid tunes like that gangnam style).

bottle of coke and 20 benson and hedges was my first purchase with the euro, still remember it like it was yesterday
