He will lose his job id say adult caution or not. He was in a position of trust which he abused, his gambling problem is his own fault, everyone has a reason for stealing but it never justifies it imo.

How do three people assault a victim without causing injury?

Sorry, should have used the word harm. It has a specific definition in the legislation.

I think the amount may actually be above the threshold for an adult caution so it'll likely go to court.

A second haul of money, €4,000, which was being held as potential evidence in a court case, has disappeared from a locker at Balbriggan garda station..
Gardai seized the cash during a drugs search in 2009 and it was being stored in the locker as further inquiries were made.
Gardai did not become aware that the money had gone missing until inquiries were under way into the recent theft of €9,000 from an evidence bag..

So, money stored as evidence was not checked for four years.

Would it not be more likely it went missing in the same circumstances and has just been discovered now? I would expect an audit had to be done after the first incident.

I see that another €4,000 has been found to missing from Balbriggan Garda Station, from the same safe the original €9,000 was taken!
    Defies belief.

Only if it happened since the last discovery. Otherwise it's pretty believable really.

Surely the first thing they would have done after the last discovery would have been to check the entire inventory of the strongroom? I mean that would be the obvious thing to do, ascertain if anything else is missing.

That's what I'm saying. Is this not the outcome of such an audit?

A garda spokesperson said that an undisclosed sum of money was discovered missing from the Athy station following an audit of all stations..
The money was being held at the station as part of evidence to crimes.
It is believed the missing cash is from a number of hauls and it is not yet clear if the money was stolen or mislaid.
