Had a scan this morning. Seeing how much my lovely little baby has grown was the best birthday present ever!

Slooooow day in work. I'll eat my words tomorrow when I'm up to my eyes again I bet!

Haven't been feeling well lately. Gotta make more effort to take care of myself. And make time for a hair cut, I can't see! My fringe is touching the tip of my nose!

Starting a new dance class later though , looking forward to it :D

Since finishing college and being at home I've been SO unproductive. It's so easy to just sit on the couch and watch tv all day when you've nothing to do/have no money! Gonna do loads of stuff today. LOADS. Also my brother's girlfriend is gone to Spain for 2 weeks so that means I might get to hang with him for a bit...when she's around they literally spend all their time together :/

Thanks LMP, yep the dates work out so well! I didn't think I was going to get a job at this rate. The relief is just immense!

Was 20 weeks on Sunday. Just over the halfway mark. We are delighted. It's finally starting to feel real now with the bump appearing and feeling movement.

Thank you and yes, legs were delicate!!

I can drive a boat but you're less likely to hit things in a boat!!

How long for the nerves and sick feeling to go away?!?! :o

It goes away and then comes back for the test and finally goes away a couple of months after.

Yeah, I still remember the first unaccompanied trip I did, week or so after I passed. Was still scared! I used to be petrified of right turns :D
Now you can see me regularly ranting in the R&R motors thread

Learning to drive might be a good way for diet control! Feeling sick, so not wanting to eat anything! :pac:

I've done 8 lessons and I still get terribly nervous before them. I'm getting less nervous now doing driving around town with my dad or my cousin but the lessons...they just have a different atmosphere about them!

Mars, having an instructor you're comfy with will help a lot, honestly. I had one who was more interested in her makeup and "don't interrupt while I'm talking" (what), one old dude who was just so so scary, and then finally I got a LOVELY lady who was very careful to be all "now up ahead we'll take a left, no big deal, start looking xyz" in a calming reassuring voice
    Passed handily enough with her!
It was a lot more stressful for me going with family...

    And now you're an ambi-turner!

I ended up refusing to drive anywhere with my Mum. She meant well but between the horrified gasps and her grasping the handle above the passenger seat, she just made me really nervous and I'd stall the car the whole time. I had a much easier time driving with my Dad, I never stalled with him in the passenger seat.

Mum was like that too, gripping the door in horror like I was tearing along.
Well now I do tear along, she's allowed :p

My grandfather was lovely but still all "why are you taking so long on that, you could fit a bus through there, come on" til finally one day I was all I HAVENT BEEN DRIVING FOR 50 YEARS SO STOP IT OKAY and he stopped :p

This doggy thing on sunday will be awesome, they have a "waggiest tail" competition !!! :D

I'm the same! My Mother is ridiculous. I'm sure she means well but she never really got me anywhere because she wouldn't even bring me outside a car-park :/

I prefer driving with my brother. Even-though he's 3 years younger than me! He's a lot calmer and encourages me to go out on the main roads.

Need to get more driving lessons actually. They are just so expensive! Think I've done 5 lessons now. So good few more till I can take a test...

Once I found the right instructor I was confident enough to drive without him in 2 lessons. Up to that point I was scared out of my mind.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,954 ✭✭✭✭Larianne

Well today was with my mother. I don't want to pay for an instructor until I've had at least some experience on the road. But the first time I went to break I could see my mam bracing herself with her arm. Then whenever I was to use the break I could see her moving her foot to brake! :pac:

My mother does the exact same thing. She hangs onto the door for dear life. She's such a bad passenger!

My instructor is a dote. He really is fantastic! I don't know why I get so nervous. I don't realise I get so tense until my legs are shaking.

A big +1 on the importance of finding the right instructor! Word of mouth is usually the best way... I had a fantastic instructor and I passed the test first time, in a town I'd only lived in for like, three months. He was very calming and totally understood the actions and reactions of an inexperienced driver.

I guess, in fairness to my mother, it was her first time too in the car with me. She settled in once she realised I wasn't a disaster.

I've a recommendation from a Boardsie so I'll be contacting him soon. Meant to be very patient! :pac:
