Just what I need - tried on a maxi skirt and asked my dad (who was a fashion designer in the past) about how it looked - he went on to say that it was far too small for me on the hips and then measured me and saw that he was wronng but said that I needed a far bigger size for my hips - is it any wonder that i have body image issues - hubby is disgusted with him - when was a size 8 fat?

If he thinks a size 8 is fat then he's the one with the issues. Good Lord he'd think I'm massive at a 14!

Where did all my money go?! Damn you, good weather and giving into the temptation to go evening drinking..

Spent the day watching films, sleeping and eating. I ended up getting really restless, think after doing non stop study for the exams I was feeling guilty at doing nothing.

I've decided I'm going to try study maths this summer - properly. I didn't mind it in school but I've totally forgotten basic things...kind of wish I'd put more effort in to it in college.

CathyMoran, if these are the kinds of things your father says and truly thinks, there's something wrong wih this brain and you need to stop listening to what he says.

Felt sh1tty all evening. Didn't have a great day food-wise either. Feel a little better now. I've had a shower and my hair is all soft. :)

I really don't know what to do with my summer.

Just finished college so kinda wanna get a "professional" job...something that has to do with my degree. There are many jobs in the nearest city to me that require a second language and would be perfect. Now I used to be fluent in French because I lived in France during my childhood...but I haven't really been speaking it in the last few years. My Dad lives in France and has a bar over there and would love for me to come over and work there...my French would probably be fluent again in a matter of weeks.

Only thing is I'll have to quit my job here. I work in a hotel in my hometown (for the last 5 years)...it's a good enough job. But don't wanna work in hotels my whole life. And they are giving me no hours at the moment..this week I only had 1 day :/ But would be kinda silly to quit that job. And they deffo won't give me time off to go to France. They already gave me time off for my finals in college.

Also my Dad absolutely does my head in sometimes..usually can spend about 3 days with him and that's it. Plus he lives in a village with a population of 256 and the nearest town is a half an hour drive away... :/

    (first world problems)

They all sound like excuses! Go to France for a few weeks. You won't see your Dad that much as you'll be working, make friends etc.

When you come back, apply for those jobs. You won't need to work in the hotel.

Tis very easy to get stuck in a rut. Go for it!! :)

...says me who's put two job applications on the long finger.. :o

Well folks, it was looking threateningly dull out this morning but now the sun has made a reappearance :)

Took the pooch for a long walk earlier, then after some housework I'm off to J's for a few days. The joys of only having three days at work this week - Friday, Saturday, Sunday

Before today is over I'm either going to tear my hair out or throw my laptop out the window. I hate doing assignments about subjects I have no experience of. I have to write about caring for a dying person and I've never done it.

What kind of stuff do you have to talk about?

What kind of stuff do you have to talk about?

I've to do an introduction to the patient which I have done. It's a made up person, we have no other way to do it. Then we have to talk about what kind of care they need. Then we have to talk about an incident that happened and how it made you feel and do a conclusion and talk about what you'd do differently if you were caring for the same patient again.

    That sounds interesting
I wrote a story for one of the creative writing forum comps about taking care of a catatonic schizophrenic, involved some imagination and reading up online about people's experiences with it, you can try that

    I'm Googling furiously! :)

It is interesting but I find this module really tough.

The summer has officially departed from Cork. In hindsight I was TOO hopeful with the flip flops this morning...

    Yay pinkheels, enjoy it!!

My neighbour here won't pay anyone to take her rubbish away and all of it is piled up in her back garden. It was inevitable it would bring rats, my bro saw a big rat rustling away (during the day). Private houses(ex-council). Anyone know if there's anything I can do...without them knowing it was us that complained. I've my two nephews playing in my back garden...don't want them to have to face a big, dirty rat. :(

I'm pretty sure the Council will take an anonymous complaint. ISTR they're currently having fun identifying people who are not using refuse services so they might be just as happy to find one.

Assignments done! I'm gonna stay in and do some online CPD for vet nursing. I need to stay on the register and need one point before the end of July, I have 11 now. :)

Are you doing the Fetac Healthcare assistant course PP? Assignments sound interesting.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,401 ✭✭✭✭x Purple Pawprints x

Yeah most of the modules are FETAC. I'm actually doing it through a company called CPL/Nifast. It's part of the new Momentum initiative. The actual title is Healthcare Support. The assignments are interesting but really really tough sometimes I have to say. We've just finished Palliative Care. Not sure what's up next.
