Why not just order it on their site? I have bought loads of cards of them over the years and never called them once. I have always just ordered online?

Read the post I was quoting before that. The card we are talking about isn't available on their site. It's a variation of a the Pakiet Comfort, but including the Canal+ channels.

Does anyone know, yet, if Canal+ will be showing the PL games on the Canal+ channels only and not NCSport? I see this on their site but its not certain what they mean!:

I'm with you Azzeretti... I fear that they may split the EPL games between Canal+ and NSport channels to boost subscription to the more expensive packages. I for one am going to wait it out and see what happens in Aug/Sept before I stump up my cash for a card/package

i dont expect epl games to be on nsport any polish games on n sport they had to put them on canal + at the same time as some polish dont get n sport

. my card lasts until september anyway

I haven't dealt with them. That is a decent price though! Interesting that they give Dublin and Cork contact numbers at the side of the page, which link to installers here. I was in contact with the Cork crowd before and at that stage they could only arrange the contracted Cyfra if you could provide a valid social security number.

The Dublin website seems to suggest that they can get 18 month cards, but says prices are unavailable. Might be worth some further investigation!

Just a not on the valid s.s no. Be aware that no-one outside of state agencies etc can ask for a s.s.no. On no account should anyone give their prsi no to any private concern.

In poland you have to give your polish social security number almost for everything (Pesel number). Thats what they were looking for, not your Irish PRSI number. You even have to give it when ordering on the likes of Allegro (Ebay type shop).

Thanks lads. Yeah it was actually a Pesel and ID which had to be supplied. I'm familiar with the phrase Pesel from a previous job. I should have clarified that in the original post by saying that it was a Polish Social Security number. The point I was trying to make was that at that stage they were only doing subs on a contracted basis.

I think lots of european sat providers are actually more heavy on the data requirements. Portugal for sure.

The Arivas work with these cards

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,138 ✭✭✭snaps

Yes I would possibly recommend the ariva 150. You get a nice little media player too, record facility, youtube, iptv etc etc. That deal i posted is a cracking deal to be honest, I would check though that the channel listing is correct for it as it says Eurosport 2 is included, if so i doubt you'd get a better deal.

sky dish too small and pointing in the wrong direction. For Cyfra minimum 88cm dish pointed at hotbird!

if you use cardsplitter, youll get an 80cm dish and ariva from them.

just repeating what has been quoted here, but is a 60cm dish sufficient for a subscription?

yes im using one for it myself

u want an 80cm dish set to 13 east and put the card in the slot and your away

getting the dish right for the hd channels is only tricky part

Can anyone confirm an old sky dish (obviously would need to be pointed in the right direction!) will work for 13.0e reception? I'm in Dublin. Thinking of just turning one of the two sky dishes I have (don't ask!).

It will work yes, but reception of HD channels will be hit and miss in the rain

On the cardsplitter site you can filter the card options by "nc" and "cyfra". The card linked above is a cyfra one and I wondered if it was some historical remnant or something? All the channels on the cyfra cards are slightly out of date.

From that point of view, I thought the safer order would be an nc card. I was thinking of this one for circa €400.

Al Jazeera online sub will work out at less than $200 per year..... Hard to argue against.

Yeah, I've had it before. Some ok english content, it used to be a bit annoying where National Geographic HD was Polish audio only, while the same programme on the SD channel had both options!

Obviously not as high a bit rate as over sat but from what I've read it's still very good quality.

I'm just preparing for when Sky prevent my current setup from working despite how much I pay them. I've grown used to using my mini pc for all my live tv and media viewing and don't want to go back to needing a set top box as well.

And that tied in with a sub with Eurosport 2 (In English) will give you Bundesliga and other sports too

It's essentially all the sky and bt games and the 3pm game of highest potential interest i.e the one setanta will probably show on setanta ireland or 1.

Good stuff but Al Jazeera online sub is still tempting. Will all depend if I can find an xbmc plugin that I could just type my login details into. May just bite the bullet and put the 13e dish up regardless.

Make sure its at least an 80cm one as the canal+ HD channels go walkabout in rain. I've even lost them this week in heavy thundery rain on an offset 1.1m

not a bad list of games , Ive lost it in very heavy rain on the Hd , but switch to the sd channel then as that would need terrible weather to knock it off

Do you mean you want 13 and 28 on the same dish? If that is what your asking the answer is Yes.

Would not center on 13 personally, I would center on somewhere in the middle like 19.

Exactly. A bit more wife friendly to only have one dish. I'm just on the north side of Dublin so would one of the td88's do for this? Would I need a new LNB for 28? Currently have a sky dish and lnb for that?

I actually have a 70 cm centred on 28 with extra LNBs on 19 and 13 which works fine in all weather so far, except thunder storms.

I suspect I am lucky though all the advice is to point it at the weakest signal.
