Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. have had to hold off the purchase for a bit. but one of the main reasons i was thinking of getting it, was the motor, IR reciever, remote etc. that plus all the parts i though made sense to get this set for the price. given my choice i would buy the 10233 horizon express, as it looks closer to the old irish trains, well the colour scheme anyway. that set is about 90, without motor etc. dont know, unlikely to get it over the weekend, but may.

Thats a great reduction. Mandalore is the planet which Bobba Fett and Jango fett are from.

it was in the "original" smiths in Claremorris. my home place.
there was only the one there. otherwise i would probable have gotten all they had. i always check the clearance bin. but its only the second time i have ever seen lego in it. last time was the small planet sets, the series one death star one with the little tie fighter. got a couple of those, if anyone is interested in one

    Jango Fett:

Both were Bounty Hunters, and Jango Fett was the original Clone Trooper. The clone army was created using him as the blueprint.

did not know that either. only ever seen the originals, then the first of the remakes, but was ages ago.

Updated the picture with Jango Fett. If you notice, his outfit is blue which is why the Mandelorian battle troops are in blue as opposed to white if they were Imperial Troops.

right a little update on a purchase, randam box of lego rubble. so very disapointed in it.
well thats not true, got it for a good price, and it contains some really good pieces.
so why disapointed. the parts i did not know were in there.

    minifigs
took a while to find out some of these, not a SW fan

rebel scout trooper. without his visor, but with a crome light saber handle - not bad.

piece - 44757 - Gamorrean Guard head. only. ok interesting. and fairly rare?

    series 1
circus clown! score, damn almost, missing his hands, hair and horn (quite down the back)
Series 2 TRaffic cop, missing all extras and head
    series 3
    gorilla mask only.
elf, fig only, missing all extras
    tribal chief, missing all extras
samurai warrior, missing all extras and head.
    Series 4
    surfers girls hair only?
    Series 5
    Gladiators helmet only.

few other misc parts etc. heads from 2 exo-fource guys, one of the aliens from toy story, missing a hand again (what did this person do with them?) Draco Malfoy with 2 different colour hands, i think the wrong head.

counting the actual non minifigs, really happy with purchase. seeing as i did not know there were minifigs in the sale, really happy, but could i not make even one full fig! lol
anyway, just thought i would post my almost story.

If you get a chance, watch the 3rd remake. Its much darker than the first.

  • Registered Users Posts: 496 ✭✭lostboy75

I really do have to sit down and watch them all. wahts worse about knowing very little about them is, its actually a genre that i really like. sci-fi, fantasy, top of the list on books i buy and read. and much the same with films. dont know why i dont get around to watching them. is it just because they are so popular. either way think it says more about me, than the films, and not necessarly in a good way! ;-)

^ Thank you for the heads up. I was cursing myself for missing Argos' discount on that set, it was around €33 as well. I actually hadn't planned on getting it originally, but with the release of Orthanc (which I think I definitely will get at some stage) this is a great accompaniment.

My Minecraft 1 set arrived, the box is tiny. Just waiting on my 41999 to be shipped, not sure when its going to be shipped as the date in the store keeps changing.

Aye bud, I was cursing myself too, when I heard it was discontinued. The only place to get it was amazon from third party sellers with stupid shipping costs. I was really glad, when I sow it for that price and free shiping.

I love that tower set, I want it SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO badly, but no way I can afford it now. :(

I saw it in the flesh when I was in the brand store in Westfield, and it's so impressive. But hey, it's going to be around for the next 2-3 years I reckon so plenty of time for circumstances to change.

Really swooshable little ship, extremely solid build. The 2 Jedi are really cool, and it has a green R2-unit.

Smyths have it for less than RRP @ 30 quid.

Next I'm saving up for the new 75021 Republic Gunship -- it seems to have fixed all the problems I had with the 2nd model (chiefly that it falls apart if you sneeze at it!).

I dip in an out of Lego every few years, usually to buy the large Technic sets, have a good few right back to 853 car chassis. Today I went a bit mad and bought three small sets. Technic 42004 small backhoe. The Hobbit 79000 and Star Wars 9675 oh and a couple of mini figures!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 501 ✭✭✭HorseSea

Picked up 9476, "The Orc Forge" €32 in Argos Dun Laoire today and also 79001 "Escape from Mirkwood Spiders" €15. And from Dundrum "Gandalf™ Arrives" €9.

That's it I have to be good for a while now...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,516 ✭✭✭NinjaTruncs

Started a bit of a Backhoe collection to go with the Backhoe Grader I bought a few months back, I've now added these two

    75000 Clone Troopers battle pack.

More justifiable @€;12 in Argos, instead of €16-17 RRP

    Only 2 mini figs though.

Bought the new Lego Creator Family House set 31012 from lego.com for €59.99 - it's a beaut - easily Lego's best ever house.
A light brick lights up the interior. :)

    lego-31012-family-house-creator-9.jpg

Also got a free hot dog cart set thrown in as a free gift! Yay! :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,840 ✭✭✭Arciphel

That house looks great, was looking at it in Smyths and it was €75, but the price on Lego's own website seems reasonable enough.

Smyths have the new Mindstorms set on their webpage now - http://www.toys.ie/LEGO-Mindstorms-EV3-31313-!128040-prd.aspx

    128040_M.jpg

    €365!

Picked up some series 7 minifigures in Smyths Carrigmines today, they said on-line they had Series 9 in stock, but they didn't but the did have a few Series 7 left. They were setting up a new stand for Series 11, but had not received the stock yet. I also got he Hobbit 79002 reduced from 69.99 to 49.99.

I'm thinking of army building, just not sure which armies to build!

Considering Alien Defence Unit, Exploriens, and Series 9 space marines.
Maybe a few more Clone troopers too.

Couldn't resist pulling the trigger on 42008 as my next project after 42009! The way I've sold it to myself is I'll make 42009 and then sell it, hopefully near enough to purchase price! I'd normally keep all Lego I buy, but this way I can justify getting another big set so soon after the last one! :pac:

Anyone looking to buy a nearly-new crane!?!?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,516 ✭✭✭NinjaTruncs

The problem with Lego is it doesn't regain it's value until the model goes out of production. As an example, the 42009 has already been on Amazon for €154.

Just be sure to keep your box and instructions.

That said I'll give you €120 for it :)

    Sorry meant 42009.

Wow that's cheap, although cheapest on .co.uk right now seems to be STG150 once delivery is included. That's pretty much same as lego.com price. Assume it's another country Amazon where it's cheaper? Anyways I reckon there'll be a market for it on adverts. Don't wanna make money or anything, just get a reasonable amount back - sure I never even stuck the stickers on!:)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,516 ✭✭✭NinjaTruncs

Price fluctuate wildly on Amazon. If you're willing to wait you can sometimes get items 30% + off. For instance the 4x4 crawler 9396 was €104 for a little while a few days ago, it sold out quick as you can imagine.

Putting it on Adverts will let you know what it's worth at the minute, but as I said previously sets that are still available don't really retain their value very well, but as I said once they're out of production they begin to regain their value. As an example there was a used unimog sold a while back for 90, and a new one for ~130 ish while their RRP is almost 180.

Just ordered my second modular building: 10197 Fire Brigade. I've gone back and forth on the decision to keep collecting them, having gotten the Grand Emporium a few months ago. Just seemed like such a massive commitment. God help me, I'm going for it though.

I'm buying them in order of release rather than preference because I don't want any to retire before I have the chance to pick them up. The Palace Cinema is the one I want the most, but it only just came out.

The picture doesn't really do it justice I don't think; can't wait to get it:

    10197?$main$

Also, there's a promotion running on Shop@Home at the moment, I'll be getting this mini VW Camper Van with it:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 501 ✭✭✭HorseSea

The modulars look great, but I have avoided them as once you get one you'd want them all and I'd be broke. I ordered the Camper 10220 the other say, delivered yesterday before I knew about the free mini camper :-( Will have to come up with another order over £50 to get that, it's so cute :-)

Hey guys! Just found out about this thread. I was in Windsor this summer and went for the exclusive sets there. I got the BTTF De Lorian, the dynamic duo funhouse, the Arctic batman vs. Mister Freeze set and an ass-load of keychains! My favourite by far is the De Lorian. I also have news..... Lego have recently leaked some photos of a 2014 DC set.. The Riddler chase. Nothing too special other than this: a flash minifigure!!!!!! Holy cow batman! I can't wait! There will also be three or four other sets. This is a strange thing as well... Lego the Simpsons is in the works! I never thought these would come out. There is about five of them, I think. :-)
    Hal.

Boys and girls, always look behind boxes in your local Tesco.

Yesterday I was browsing and resting on top of a bunch of Chima sets, probably going unnoticed because it was face down with the same colour scheme, was 6862 Superman vs. Power Armour Lex. I'd seen it a few times previously but always left it there, because it was at RRP. I decided to check it again with the price checker, and it scanned at €5.00

Goes without saying I picked it up...the lady on the check out was as surprised as I was!

I think someone made a booboo in tesco by pricing all this. I cleaned out all creator sets and left one Starter kit. Took only one starwars though as I dont care about starwars, so just took for minifigs and put the parts in to my "bucket".

You'll need to buy the modular fire brigade to house all those firemen and fire engines.

My Lego splurge wasn't quite as kind on my wallet.

    I got:
    42000
    42008
    42009
    10225

I'll post a picture once everything has been delivered.

Now to figure out how I'm going to eat for the next month.

I don't have much spa're money for Lego these days. So I was lucky to get all that. It's mostly just for parts. I don't really need ambulances and fore trucks lol.

I got my ps4 played off, so hopefully, very soon I will be able to dip in to Lego more seriously!
